PROFITS BEFORE CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE! Something you should know before staying at this hotel! If you are looking for a kindler, customer focused hotel, run by understanding people, this should NOT be your choice of accommodations. I am senior gentleman and booked this hotel several months in advance through a third party. Totally my fault, but I regretfully forgot about this booking as life's demands and busyness (and perhaps my age related forgetfulness) took over. I called the hotel asking for some understanding and forgiveness, and requested that my automatic payment be refunded... even one of the two nights refunded would have been very much appreciated. After talking to the front desk, the Manager, who then discussed my request with the General Manager, my request was denied. My booking was in a very high demand time of year when they were certainly booking a high volume of business each and every night, but they could not see clear to help out a retired Senior, living on a fixed income. I don't think a refund would have dented the hotel's profits all that much, if at all, and certainly would have garnered the hotel some good will. So, before booking this hotel, you should just know that you are dealing with a Profits First, Customer Last kind of establishment, and may want to consider the many other options in the area. I also see the many other reviews describing this hotel as a tired, dated facility...
Commodores Inn

The Commodores Inn is a quaint and comfortable hotel, reasonably priced, and near all Stowe attractions, especially since the local shuttle stops right at the property. The hotel is a bit older, but appeared well kept-up, and was quite popular with families and those with pets. Our room was clean and spacious, the television and Internet worked well, and we had excellent hot water pressure. The breakfast was minimal, but we did appreciate the large indoor pool, and the partially-working hot tub (no bubbles). Our trip was for skiing and to celebrate the New Year, and we certainly enjoyed walking around the small village, heading off to the slopes, and eating at the various local restaurants. The restaurant in this hotel is like a sports bar, quite busy, but with a wide variety of choices and fair prices. Unfortunately, one night the fire alarm went off at the hotel because the restaurant had some rags that caught fire--quite a commotion to see everyone out in the snow and the cold in pajamas! The hotel was decorated quite wonderfully for the holidays--the nutcrackers on the mantel above the cozy fireplace were very striking. Yes, we would return to enjoy this hotel the next time we are in the area.
Topnotch Resort

Topnotch Resort lives up to its name. Super friendly staff made us feel welcome from beginning to end. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Indoor heated pool and hot tub were nice after a long day of skiing. Beautiful view from the patio outside the restaurant. Really good high end bar fare. Lamb burger is a must try. Fire place outside for the kids to toast s’mores. Will definitely stay here again!
Butler House

Stayed in Sarah's suite with my husband and 6 month old. It was perfect, exactly what we were looking for. Fireplace really works and gets warm which was nice and cozy during the rainy evening. Right on main street which is great for easy walking to shops and restaurants but was a little noisy at night. Hardwood floors, super comfy bed, nice hot shower and shower and water pressure, beautiful decorated, kitchen to cook in, coffee and half n half, Netflix and Amazon prime. Loved that check in was super easy and butlers pantry for breakfast was fantastic. I hope to stay here again in the future... easily one of the top 3 best hotels I've ever stayed at.
Field Guide Lodge

The soundproofing of the room is very poor, the sound of walking on the floor outside, the sound of music next door affects the morning sleep, the sofa bed is not comfortable at all, the sheets are thin and soft, I always feel unclean, I feel itchy when I sleep, the room space is not very small, and there is basically no service. So it is more general.
Grey Fox Inn

First, the management of this hotel is incredible unethical. I have in writing that they would allow a one time change to my reservation date and when I did that they charged two deposits. They overcharged me $300 and refuse to return the overcharge and have told me to deal with my credit card company. I don't even know how they have a leg to stand on because their direction to allow me to change my reservation was in writing... So this headache has been going on for two months. Second, you'll surprised when you are assigned a basement room. When would you ever expect to ask a hotel if your room is above ground? I think it's incredible they don't tell guests they are being assigned a basement room. It's unfortunate because the rooms are good sizes, but no matter what people like light and paying hundreds of dollars a night should warrant a room above ground. Finally, the pool deck and hot tub is not cleaned throughout the day, so they were pretty disgusting by end of day. Especially in winter months, the hot tub was used a lot so you think more time would be taken to clean it . The amount of hair and brown foam...
