Lop Nor Village
Deserts, Poplar forests, Lakes, off-season travel in Southern Xinjiang is not bad
📍Luobu Village
There was a warning earlier that the Poplar forest might be gone
So I feel lucky to encounter not just bare branches
"Desert for thousands of years, Poplar for a thousand years, Luobu people for a hundred years"
The early winter temperature starts to be unbearable, the scenic area Luobu people have retreated
There are fewer tourists along the way
The overall scene is more solemn and desolate in winter
But
The golden leaves on the ground of the Poplar forest form a carpet
The little brother is still fishing on the shallow beach of the Tarim River
The lake under the East Sand Mountain is still shining
Black swans are playing in pairs, as beautiful as a painting
Take the scenic spot sightseeing car from East Sand Mountain to Goddess Lake
Pass through the Taklamakan Desert all the way🏜️
Riding a camel in the desert and looking at the Goddess Lake
Still feel it's worth it
🎫: 50 (including sightseeing car)
⏱️: 10:00-18:30
🚗: It takes about 1.5h to drive from Kuerle city, there is a free parking lot at the entrance
❗️Notes
1⃣️It is recommended to take the scenic spot sightseeing car in two sections, the first section to Abudan Square. Most of the Poplar forest is on the way to East Sand Mountain, and then the second section belongs to East Sand Mountain-Goddess Lake-Abudan Square loop
2⃣️Most of the merchants have withdrawn this season, only a small amount of food is available at Abudan Square, but the commercialization mentioned by netizens is gone, and there are very few people, it's very comfortable to stroll around, and you can take pictures casually
3⃣️There are many projects in the scenic area, popular camel riding (80 yuan/person), glider, desert car, it was a bit cold and I just rode a camel and left, the scenery is really good
Don't go wrong! The wetland park next to the Luobu Village is more attractive
Friends going to Korla must go to 'Luobu Village', but I tell everyone with the experience of buying two tickets, don't rush into Luobu Village, it's more attractive to drive into 'Luobu Naor National Wetland Park' from the side!!!
'Luobu Village' and 'Luobu Naor National Wetland Park' are in the same location. The village takes a shuttle bus from the visitor center to visit, and the wetland park drives in from the side door to visit; the wetland park is larger and more primitive, I personally think it's okay to go directly to the wetland park!
🔸 Luobu Naor National Wetland Park 200r/car
The newly opened scenery, the original ecology is to buy tickets in the temporary shed at the entrance of the Luobu Village Visitor Center. It is a 46km ring road for self-driving, including several Populus euphratica landscapes. It is quite primitive. You can play as you like. The pictures are basically taken here. I personally think the experience is far better than Luobu Village
🔸 Luobu Village 49/person
The planned scenic area, there are many man-made scenes on the Populus euphratica forest, plus too many tour groups, the experience is not very good, the photos are not very good, the more highlights are the 'Goddess Lake' behind, which is more characteristic than the previous scenic spots~
Tarim River Basin Populus Euphratica Forest
📍The Populus euphratica forest in the Tarim River Basin is like a masterpiece painted by nature's magical brush.
🌳The tall and straight Populus euphratica trees have stood on this land for thousands of years, witnessing the changes of time. The golden leaves shine brightly in the sunlight, like burning flames.
💧The Tarim River flows slowly, bringing vitality and energy to the Populus euphratica forest. The river reflects the shadows of the Populus euphratica trees, creating a stunning picture.
🐦Various birds play on the branches in the forest, adding a touch of liveliness to the tranquil Populus euphratica forest.
👣Stroll through the Populus euphratica forest and feel the charm of nature. The fallen leaves rustle under your feet, as if telling ancient stories.
💪The Populus euphratica forest here is not only a beautiful scenery, but also a symbol of perseverance. They survive tenaciously in harsh environments, showing the miracle of life.
💕Come to the Populus euphratica forest in the Tarim River Basin and feel this gift from nature! Let's immerse ourselves in this golden world and forget all our troubles.
Don't miss the Luobu Village when you visit Xinjiang.
💖My dear friends, I must share with you the stunning Luobu Village in Xinjiang today.

🌈There are vast poplar forests here. At this time of year, the leaves have turned golden, and when the wind blows, they rustle as if telling ancient stories. Walking among them, you can feel the tranquility and magnificence, and every photo you take is a masterpiece.
🌊The clear Tarim River flows slowly, with sparkling water, creating a beautiful picture with the surrounding desert and poplars.
🛖The houses in Luobu Village are unique, full of rich ethnic customs. These ancient buildings have witnessed the passage of time, making you feel like you've traveled back in time.

Lop Nor Grand Canyon
The Lop Nor Grand Canyon is located in Yuli County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on the edge of the Lop Nor uninhabited area. This grand canyon is about kilometers long, with the deepest drop exceeding 100 meters. It is hidden beneath the Gobi Desert, resembling a dormant dragon lying underground. The canyon walls are of various shapes, steep and rugged, and entering the canyon feels like being in an underground palace. The Lop Nor Grand Canyon is a unique gorge formed by the alluvial fan at the foot of the mountains in an extremely arid region, shaped by crustal uplift and intermittent torrential rain erosion. Over millions of years, water has flowed from the high Kurutag Mountains to lower areas, seeking weak spots on the ground to develop. Factors such as earthquakes, wind, and rain erosion have caused the canyon slopes to collapse, gradually forming its current appearance. From the entrance, the canyon gradually narrows and deepens. After buying tickets at the scenic area gate, you can drive into the scenic area following the indicated route, usually first reaching the small canyon area deep within the grand canyon. This section is not accessible by car. There is a go-kart track in the scenic area, and following the go-kart track and its flags, you can drive to the entrance of the grand canyon and then drive into the grand canyon.
⏳Playtime:
Tickets cost 20 yuan per person, and an additional 50 yuan per person for self-driving into the scenic area. Playtime is 2 to 4 hours.
Xinjiang
#chinatrip Xinjiang is an autonomous region in the far northwest of China. It is known for its vast and diverse landscapes, including deserts, mountains, and fertile valleys. The region is rich in cultural diversity, home to various ethnic groups, including Uighurs, Kazakhs, and Tajiks. Xinjiang is famous for its Silk Road history, stunning natural scenery such as the Taklamakan Desert and Tianshan Mountains, and unique cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and cuisine. Key attractions include the ancient city of Kashgar, the scenic Karakul Lake, and the city of Urumqi, which serves as the regional capital.
National Geographic Taklamakan Desert Expedition
Today, I finally got a signal after coming out from the depths of the desert and reaching the new village of Riyabuyi. After living a wild life for two days, it was so fulfilling haha. Without a signal for these two days, I followed the ancient riverbed of the Keriya River deep into the heart of the desert, visiting the Dandan Uiliq and Karadong ruins along the way.
I stayed one night in the old village of Daliyabuyi. Although the old village had no electricity, no internet, and no running water, there were still residents living there. Unexpectedly, in such a remote area, the few villagers still insisted on the flag-raising ceremony every Monday. It felt like all the villagers came together, and when we sang the national anthem together, there was an indescribable sense of emotion. I cried while singing. Now the state has built a new village with better conditions for the locals, and the old village occasionally hosts tourists.
I must write an equipment guide after I rest a bit!
National Geographic expeditions are not commercial tour groups you find on the market! They are not commercial tour groups!! Do not join with the mindset of being a city beauty, but rather think of yourself as a wild person. Although there is a logistics support vehicle throughout the journey, after all, it goes to places that ordinary tour groups cannot reach, and the degree of commercialization is definitely not high, even primitive. Although I haven't bathed for two days, and my hair can't be combed due to the wind and sun, I think it's very worthwhile to see the scenery that others can't see.
Southern Xinjiang Group Tour (Exclusive) - D16 Loulan Village
Loulan Village Scenic Area is located within the territory of Dunhuangtan Township, Yuli County, 40 kilometers from the county seat, bordering the largest desert in China, the Taklamakan Desert to the south; the longest inland river in China, the Tarim River, flows through the scenic area; the largest primitive Populus euphratica forest reserve and the ancient and mysterious Loulan people are all in this scenic area.
The Loulan people are a branch of the Uyghur ethnic group, also known as the people of Lop Nur. In the scenic area, I met a primary school student (see picture 3), and when I asked him what ethnicity he was, he said he was "Chinese".
The scenic area mainly includes: Loulan Village (with only a few families left), Dongsha Mountain, Goddess Lake, Populus euphratica forest..., it is a characteristic scenic area that combines natural landscapes with cultural landscapes.
Longing Like Sand—A Beautiful Legend in the Desert!~~.
Holding a handful of fine sand, slightly loosening the fingers, letting the light sand slowly sprinkle on one's dress. The fine sand grains seep through the skirt, dyeing the lotus-colored dress with a faint yellow. Handful after handful of yellow sand falls on the body, as if burying the most beautiful longing.
Longing Like Sand—A Beautiful Legend of the Taklamakan Desert; any affectionate woman, if she wears the most beautiful clothes and immerses herself in the rolling dust, heaven will give her a promise, turning her lifelong longing into a grain of light sand in the desert. For every lifetime of longing, heaven will sprinkle a grain of sand for her, thus creating the vast Taklamakan!
In the uninhabited desert, there is such a beautiful legend. When standing here, one will miss every person they care about in their heart. Some say longing is like the sea, but I prefer longing like sand!~~~~~
Desert Tour Recommendations:
Xinjiang's S21 Desert Highway: The S21 Desert Highway features landscapes such as oases, wetlands, and sea Yadan. The S21 project is designed to create a national "Top 100 Service Areas" and "Transport-Tourism Integration" demonstration service areas with high standards, truly building the brand system of the "Most Beautiful Desert Highway," the ethnic folk culture system, the smart travel service system, and the travel and tour design system. It reflects desert charm, wildlife protection, and green agricultural leisure themes, combining the strengths of many, and showcasing the diverse cultural combinations of the Corps culture, red culture, fishing and hunting culture, and nomadic culture.
Gansu: Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring
Distance from Dunhuang to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring: 5 kilometers (about 10 minutes by car)
Scenic Area Ticket: 110 yuan (valid for 3 days)
Special Recommendations:
To take beautiful photos of Mingsha Mountain, you must go to the top of the mountain. To take beautiful daytime photos of Crescent Spring, it is best to go before the sun sets in the afternoon when there are fewer people and the light is better. To watch the sunset, pay attention to the sunset time of the day and allow an hour and a half to climb the sand mountain, otherwise, you might miss it halfway up.
Tips: Some advice for friends who want to go to the desert
1. About clothes: Remember not to wear blue-green and dark-colored clothes.
2. The best spot for shooting is on the roadside before reaching the core area of the scenic spot (but often there are many cars and people, all will be in the frame, and you can only edit them out later).
3. There is a parking lot in the core area (the observation deck does not require a ticket, but if you want to park in the parking lot, you need to buy a ticket).
You can choose to park for free on the roadside a few meters away from the core area (there are planned roadside parking spots, and after parking, you need to walk a few hundred meters to the observation deck, saving the ticket and parking fees).
4. Wear proper clothes. When you reach the observation deck, especially by the lake, the wind will be very strong and cold.
5. If the car is parked far away and you want to take photos by the lake, remember to bring all your sunscreen products. Do a good job of sun protection!
No Man but Spirits: Crossing the Lop Nur Grand Canyon
Today's itinerary is relatively simple. We set out from the Bosten Hotel in Korla, pass through the Lop Nur Grand Canyon, head to Yuli County, and stay at the Lop Nur Hotel at night, covering a total distance of 75 kilometers.
Originally, I planned to visit Bosten Lake, but considering that the two currently open scenic spots are not very impressive, and the essential part, the Heart of the Lake Mountain, which is half water and half desert, is closed and not open to the public. Additionally, the round trip is over 200 kilometers, which could very likely be a wasted effort, so I gave up on that idea.
I also thought about visiting the Loulan Village and staying directly in the Joyland Resort Camp in the scenic area, but after coming out of the Lop Nur Grand Canyon, the weather changed and it became overcast. Moreover, the scenic area only allows self-driving cars to enter after 8 pm, and we would have to leave before 10 am the next day, which is quite inconvenient, so I gave that up as well.
So today, I only visited this one attraction. Here's my review:
❗️Lop Nur Grand Canyon❗️
Recommended Index: 5🌟 (Unique landforms, hardcore scenery, very photogenic)
Time Spent: About 4 hours (6 kilometers round trip on the right path+)
Hiking Intensity: 2🌟 (Friendly trail conditions but requires walking the full round trip)
Ticket Cost: 20 yuan/person + 50 yuan/car
Mobile Signal: None (no signal throughout the valley)
Drone Flying: No
Rather than calling it a 'Grand Canyon', I think 'Rift Valley' or 'Narrow Canyon' might be more appropriate. Of course, this scenic spot is only part of the Lop Nur Grand Canyon. The landform features are still very rare. Both the top and the bottom are very flat, with the widest part of the canyon being about 8 meters and the height around 6-10 meters. Walking through it feels like traversing the cracks of the earth, similar to the Tongtian Cave in the Hami Sea Road, where such views are common, making it very photogenic without the need to queue.
This place is part of Lop Nur. Navigate to the entrance of the scenic area, where there is a slightly bumpy gravel road, and after entering the scenic area, there is a 4-kilometer stretch to the rift valley. Although a sedan can make it, an SUV is recommended. The ticket used to be 20 yuan per person, but now there is an additional 50 yuan per car self-driving fee. However, considering the value of this attraction, it feels acceptable. There are very few visitors, almost like having the place to ourselves, which is quite nice.
Once down in the valley, there is no mobile signal throughout. There are two paths to choose from, left and right. The left is about 2100 meters long, and the right is 2800 meters. I chose the right side to cross. Walking and taking pictures, plus a few detours shown in the pictures, the total playtime was about 4 hours, completing the right side crossing, with a round trip of about 8 kilometers.
The bottom of the canyon is a flat path of small pebbles, which feels good on the feet and is not tiring. There is also natural shade and valley breeze, so even on a 40-degree sunny day, it doesn't feel too hot or too sunny, making it quite friendly for hiking.
As for the downsides, there are still a lot of randomly discarded trash remnants along the way. The scenic area is only concerned with enclosing land and selling tickets, without better cleaning. Also, at the end of each detour, it has become a natural toilet for tourists, with a pungent smell. Although it's understandable that there are no toilets at the bottom of the valley, it's still better to go before descending, and try to hold it if possible.
