Kyrgyzstan is located in the center of Asia, the junction of Western Europe and East Asia. It borders Kazakhstan to the north and northeast, Tajikistan to the south, Uzbekistan to the southwest, and China to the east and southeast. The total length of the border is 4,503 kilometers, of which the common border with China is 1,096 kilometers. The country covers an area of 199.9 thousand square kilometers. It is located in the Eastern 6 time zone, and the local time is 2 hours later than Beijing time. Kyrgyzstan is divided into 7 states and 2 cities. The states and cities are divided into districts, and the district administrative office is the grassroots government agency. The 7 states are: Chui State, Talas State, Osh State, Jalal-Abad State, Naryn State, Issyk-Kul State, Batken State. The two cities are: Bishkek and Osh. Among them, Bishkek is the capital of Kyrgyzstan, the national political, economic, cultural, and scientific center, the main transportation hub, with an area of 130 square kilometers and a population of about 1.0741 million (as of March 2021). Osh is the second largest city in Kyrgyzstan, with a population of about 322,200 (as of March 2021), located in the Fergana Basin in the south, known as the "Southern Capital of Kyrgyzstan".
Kyrgyzstan is mountainous, with 90% of the territory above 1,500 meters above sea level. The mountains are covered with snow all year round, with many glaciers. It has a continental climate, with hot and dry summers, relatively cold winters, large temperature differences between day and night, mostly sunny days, less wind, an average temperature of -6°C in January, and an average temperature of 27°C in July. The annual precipitation is 200 to 800 millimeters. The main rivers in Kyrgyzstan are the Naryn River, Chatkal River, Saryjaz River, Chu River, Talas River, Karadarya River, Kyzylsu River, etc. The main lakes are Issyk-Kul Lake, Songköl Lake, Sary-Chelek Lake, etc.
