If you want to quench your thirst for a trip to Japan in Seoul's Huam-dong? - Huam-dong City Pop Izakaya Huam Jongjeom
I found a cool izakaya with a newtro style that plays sweet Japanese city pop (mainly songs from the 70s and 80s)!
The store name is 'Huam Jongjeom'. It is located near the 108 steps in Huam-dong. As soon as I entered the store, unique and fun props, posters, and album jackets caught my eye. Even the cartoon characters on the menu, which seemed to have been hand-drawn by the owner himself, were rough but addictive. I personally prefer B-grade sensibility, so I liked it.
The atmosphere of Huam Jongjeom made me feel like I was in a hideout-style bar in Shinjuku Golden Gai, and it was enough to quench my thirst for a trip to Japan!
The music that was playing was also familiar songs by Yamashita Tatsuro, Kadomatsu Toshiki, Anri, Yagami Junko, Wink, etc., so I was very happy. Other unfamiliar songs are quite fun to search for with the Soundhound app and Google Music Search, so if you like music, you can have quite a good time.
The side dishes at Huam Terminal are cooked 90% by the owner with all his might. Since most of them are cooked by one person or two people, the menu may come out a little late when there are a lot of people, so please understand.
The quality of the side dishes, which are full of the owner's sincerity, is also considerable! Now, I will analyze the side dishes one by one.
The kushikatsu, fried with fresh and large ingredients, seemed to have been studied by the owner himself. I liked the taste of the batter because it was quite unique! The ingredients were fresh, so the chewy texture was amazing! In particular, the juicy kushikatsu fried with chicken was the best! And the chicken skin dumplings were also quite a delicacy~ The chicken skin fried to the right thickness was not greasy or too thick, so it was easy to eat. The dumpling fillings were also well-made without spoiling the taste of the dumplings that we are familiar with. Thanks to this, the highball and soju went down smoothly!
After finishing the kushikatsu and chicken skin dumplings, I felt sorry to finish it like this, so I ordered Spam Napolitan and a bottle of soju.
The Spam Napolitan was a large portion and the added ingredients were also generous, so it was a visual that would make big eaters' eyes widen. The taste was not much different from the tomato sauce pasta we know. It tasted just like the Napolitan I had in Japan? If you like pasta, it would be amazing. The stimulating taste of the Spam and Napolitan sauce was also refreshing, so it goes well with soju or highball.
I have a feeling that I will become a regular here in the future. I'll have to come back soon to try other menus! Anyway, I highly recommend Huam Jongjeom!
