The Ōfuna Kannon in the west of Ōfuna Station in Kamakura City is an eye-catching huge white statue of Kannon. Although there were instances where the construction of this statue had to be stopped due to WWII, it was completed in 1960 (Showa 35) and is now a symbol of Kamakura City Ōfuna Ward, gently protecting the many visitors who come to pray. Travel tip This modern temple is home to the Ofuna Kannon, a 25-meter statue of the Buddhist goddess of mercy, watching serenely over visitors. At the Yume Kannon Festival held in autumn each year, you can watch performances of music and dance from around Asia. Prepare yourself for breathtaking beauty as you crest the stairs in front of Ofuna Kannon Temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. You can access Ofuna Kannon Temple easily by foot, only five minutes from JR Ofuna Station’s west entrance. There is no parking lot available so, although the temple can be driven to, public transportation is recommended.

This is an interactive park where you can experience and enjoy Miura Peninsula’s agriculture and the sea. In the park surrounded by the sea, there are flowers blooming every season, a farm where you can harvest vegetables in season, outdoor facilities such as a breathtaking go-kart course and grass sliding and a restaurant with the theme of “farm” and “sea”. Other activities include bread making and handicraft workshops and interacting with various animals such as capybaras and kangaroos at the Animal Village. Travel tip From mid-December to the end of March, the rape blossoms are in bloom for more than a hundred days. On a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji over Sagami Bay. Those who like sunflowers should consider a visit the park during July and August to see the vibrant flowers in full bloom and enjoy the sunflower-inspired menu. Nagai Seaside Park – Soleil Hill is an interactive park on Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture where you can enjoy Japan’s agriculture and the sea. #getgoing2025 Sarushima, which floats off the coast of Yokosuka Port, is the only natural island in Tokyo Bay and the largest uninhabited island in the bay with a circumference of about 1.6 kilometres. Since it is located at the entrance of Tokyo Bay, it has been a key point for the Defence of the capital since the end of the Edo period. It is now a casual leisure island that can be crossed in about 10 minutes by a dedicated boat. When you enter the inside of the island, a huge brick remains appear. It is designated as a national historic site because valuable structures such as brick remains built in the French structure (Flanders structure) remain.

#nationalparks Nagai Uminote Park Soleil Hill is a park that can be enjoyed all day long from children to adults on a vast site on the Miura Peninsula. The southern French-style brick building was cute, attractions and restaurants were also developed, and many families were seen enjoying day camping with their families. There is a lot of greenery and flowers, and you can enjoy just walking around the park. You can spend time relaxingly admiring at the scenery of Sagami Bay and Mt. Fuji. We've been eyeing for this hotel here in Yokosuka because a lot of people says that this hotel's facilities are good and it didn't disappoint us! We loved the ambiance of the hotel, the staffs are kind and welcoming, and if you're a foreigner you don't have to worry because they are fluent in English. #traveldiaries From Yokosuka, the drive is fairly fast and simple. It is about a 25-minute ride on the Yokohama-Yokosuka Road (Yokosuka -> Kinugasa exit -> Miura Jukan Rd for ￥750 in tolls). By train, the nearest station is Misakiguchi, but you'll need to take a taxi or determine best bus route to Le Soleil. From Urushiyama bus top, it is about a 650 meter walk. The park has one restaurant onsite, but we decided to pick up some snacks from the local convenience store. Whether you decide on bringing a picnic basket filled with homemade sandwiches, cheese and wine, or a Lawson’s grab-n-go meal, Le Soleil offers great picnic areas. Find some shade underneath the large amphitheatre or enjoy the sunshine from the sprawling lawn areas.

#traveldiaries While spring brings an array of colourful blooms including cherry blossoms, tulips and wisteria, summer is the time for hydrangeas and bright yellow sunflowers. To welcome this season’s flowers, Yokosuka Soleil Hill at Nagai Seaside Park is hosting a Sunflower Festival boasting approximately 100,000 sunflowers from mid-July to the end of August.

From Yokosuka Station, it is about a 15-minute walk. ⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯ There is a recommended tour route on the ship, follow the route to avoid repetition or omission. In addition to the ship's display, below the deck, there is also a showroom/museum converted from the cabin. This is a must-see itinerary.

A small cape located on the border between Hayama Town and Yokosuka City in Kanagawa Prefecture. Currently, entry to the cape itself is prohibited. There is a beach, but compared to Kamakura, Enoshima, and Zushi, the atmosphere and clientele are much more relaxed, the scale is smaller, and the waves are calm. It's perfect for families to relax. The area is like a small hill, with a parking lot at the top. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Fuji in the distance. It's never crowded, and it's a place that truly embodies the word 'relaxing.' 'Access' About 20 minutes by bus from JR Zushi Station or Keikyu Zushi-Hayama Station, get off at Chojagasaki. However, be aware that the surrounding roads can be congested during summer and weekends. If you take the No. 12 bus, it goes along the coast, so you can enjoy the scenery, but you will need to walk about 15 minutes from the Hayama Imperial Villa stop. 'Facilities' During the high season, there may be one or two beach houses, but the surrounding dining options are quite limited. There is a convenience store about a 10-minute walk away, and supermarkets and drugstores around the Hayama Imperial Villa, which is a 15-minute walk away. There is a public restroom near the parking lot. There are also public restrooms near the bus stop at Hayama Park, which is less than a 10-minute walk away, and at the Hayama Imperial Villa, which is a 15-minute walk away.

#japantrip Did you know there a few really cool exhibits going on now at the Yokosuka Museum Of Art? They just opened their Ghibli exhibit today and it's open through June 18th. And they have a Giant Robot exhibit now through April 7th. We love this beautifully designed space. They also have a restaurant, food/coffee truck and gift shop. 🚗 Parking available in their lot next to the museum for a fee. 🎟 You can purchase tickets on their website and pick up at Lawson's, or go in person to Lawson's and someone will help you navigate their Loppi machine to reserve tickets and pay at the register.

#japantrip Have you been out to Verny park, right off base, next to the Coaska Mall? 🌹 Have you visited the Yokosuka Modern Heritage Museum Thibaudier Residence, or the Verny Commemorative Museum, both located in Verny Park? These two spots are worth a stop if you have interest in the history of Yokosuka and how this area was developed. Both museums are FREE and their displays are in Japanese AND English. 🇯🇵 The museum staff are very friendly and happy to answer questions. The Yokosuka Modern Heritage Museum is located right next to the Amalfi Blue restaurant and has a 15 minute movie that plays each hour for 200 yen per person, that gives a little insight into the westernization of Japan. This museum also holds a large map outlining many different important spots you can visit in and around Yokosuka. And cards you can keep, like paint swatches, on important landmarks. 👀 Recommend!

#cherryblossom2024 The place is magical especially when waiting for sunset. You can bring your own foods and drinks while enjoying the place. It is indeed a wonderful view of Yokosuka City and Arasaki Coast. The view from the sunset hill is amazing. You can see Mt. Fuji clearly and it's really soothing! The silhouette of Fuji that appears after sunset on a clear day is especially recommended for photography.

#cherryblossom2024 Cape Arasaki is located in a fishing and farming village called Nagai, which falls under the city of Yokosuka in Kanagawa Prefecture. Cape Arasaki sits the the lower 1/3 of the Miura Peninsula on the west coast facing Sagami Bay. This location in particular is perfect for catching a beautiful seascape with Mt. Fuji rising high above in the west if you are lucky enough to have a day of clear weather and zero haze on the water's horizon.

本を読むカオナシの展示もめちゃくちゃ可愛くてほっこり📗📚 
個人的には提灯と風鈴が吊るされた通路が幻想的で異世界への繋がっているような雰囲気がありとてもテンションが上がりました😊🏮🎐

#springblossom This is our one of favorite parks in all of Japan. It's an easy walk from Kurihama station (either JR or Keikyu). The flowers are beautiful in the spring but the park is still fun in the off-season as well. Walk up the hill (or take the train-tram) and enjoy some lunch at the outdoor seating area near Godzilla. The kids love the playground although over the years it has gotten a bit run down and needs some repair. For a new playground, keep following the trail up and over the hill to the new kid's area.

FIRST TIME 😊

#springblossom Tsukayama Park It’s a hike from the train station, but it’s a great park to enjoy the cherry blossoms. The park turns into a sea of pink when the blossoms are in bloom. It’s also a great park to catch the sunrise. There are a couple of hiking trails to explore nearby as well.First time to visit this place. Its the top of the mountain. From here you can see the Yokosuka Port. And from what I’ve read it has 1000 sakura trees .

#thingstodo The Nichiren sect has a 700-year history in its natural location on the pond, and the spring water pond is filled with beautiful carp and seasonal flowers and trees.On designated Saturdays, there are study sessions held as Kokoro time, and there is also a memorial grave for animals. Masu. You can listen to stories from the chief priest and other experts, and it is a historic temple blessed with a beautiful natural environment.

#thingstodo Where is it? I took a walk while thinking that. As you climb up the road, which is narrower than you expected, you will see a hill that climbs further on the right. It was a large shrine located on a slightly higher ground. There was what looked like a parking lot on the left side of the hill, so I wondered if I could get there from another road. I will go again!

#thingstodo This route goes from the irises garden to the original Abekura Onsen. Personally, I think this is the main route to Mt. Ogusu, which is the quickest way to get up from public transportation. At the beginning, there is a concrete bridge that is a little high, which may surprise small children. (Also, be careful of your slippery feet) This is the entrance to a mountain trail with an atmosphere, but since it is about 250 meters high, you can hike comfortably.

#thingstodo This place is so relaxing to have a walk and it’s peaceful as well. It’s just sad that we’re not able to witness its full bloom. Amazing park year round, but especially nice March-july. Don't just come for the iris festival. March cherry blossoms, April Wisteria, azaleas, and rhododendrons, June hydrangeas, and of course July Irises. It's only 320 yen to enter from April-July. The rest of the year it's free!!
