The interior decoration is quite retro, reminiscent of the 70s and 80s, with many movie posters on the walls. Most importantly, we heard Cantonese songs playing in the shop, as many of the items are old-fashioned items from mainland China. Must-try: Banana Pound Cake. This time we chose the chocolate flavor. The freshly baked cake was served piping hot, with a small piece of melted butter on top and an irresistible aroma of cinnamon powder. The cake itself was rich and creamy! Dipping your food in a pinch of the coarse salt on the side of the plate instantly unlocks a new level of enjoyment. The dim, warm lighting is so cozy, perfect for winter. Found a spacious, clean, and comfortable guesthouse in Hwagok-dong (though it surprisingly didn’t have an elevator, so we had to carry three large suitcases upstairs 🧳). The weather in early April was still chilly, so after exercising, we went to a nearby restaurant to enjoy spicy beef stew. I remember the name of the restaurant had the words "Five Blessings" in it, and the food was absolutely delicious! We even happened to catch their makgeolli happy hour☺️ In the evening, we passed by a barbecue restaurant that seemed quite popular, so we decided to give it a try. It exceeded our expectations! (After checking, it turned out to be a chain restaurant called "Throat Water Celery BBQ"). The average cost per person was around 500 TWD, and they offered grilling services. The pork belly, side dishes, and condiments were all of excellent quality. The only downside was that the celery had fibers that were a bit too tough to chew, but overall, I highly recommend it! I still miss it after returning to Taiwan... Later, we visited Yeouido and Seoul Forest Park to see cherry blossoms and 🦌. The cool weather made for a very pleasant stroll! I also had yet another cup of Vienna coffee—it was delicious but quite sweet 🐜. Near the guesthouse, we bought some fruit and met a Mandarin-speaking shop owner who recommended we try samgyetang in Apgujeong. The soup was rich, but it didn’t seem to taste better than the ones from big brands (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎). The next day, we wandered around the area again and found a place for dinner serving authentic Korean cuisine. We discovered The Giwa, which had great ambiance and food. I particularly recommend their layered hot pot 🍲! This trip was a spontaneous decision with my family, so we didn’t do much planning. However, the lack of a detailed itinerary brought its own kind of fun. Looking forward to exploring and discovering more treasures next time✌🏾

During one of the days of this trip to Seoul, we made a special trip to Hwasul 화설 (Yeonnam Main Branch) in Yeonnam-dong. This is not an ordinary tourist restaurant, but a famous Korean beef restaurant where even local Koreans are willing to line up! It was also introduced on Korea’s super popular food program “Restaurant with Queues 2”, so its popularity is naturally beyond doubt. It was evening when we arrived. We could see customers coming in and out of the store from a distance. As soon as we stepped into the store, we were immediately attracted by the atmosphere and decoration. We ordered several different cuts of Korean beef. As soon as it was served, we saw the beautiful distribution of fat, which was a big plus just for the visual effect! 🔥The quality of the meat after grilling did not disappoint at all: The meat is tender, juicy, and not greasy. Just the sight of the wooden signs hanging at the door is enough to instantly transport you into a Korean drama scene. Although it is not very eye-catching, it hides the delicious taste that makes people unable to stop chewing.
