Yangxin County is located in the southeast of Hubei Province. It is situated midway up the Yangtze River, on the southern shore along the northern foothills of the Mufu Mountain Range. The county shares a border with Jiangxi and has been called “the gateway into Chu.” The county has also been praised as “the county of a hundred lakes” and “a land of plenty.” It is famous as the home of Chinese ramie and is also the main county in Hubei Province for forestry and fishery. The county is home to provincial-level ecotourism areas such as Xiandao Lake and Qifeng Mountain. It also contains the well-known Hubei Martyrs Mausoleum and the Southeast Hubei Revolutionary Martyrs Mausoleum in the Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi border area. Yangxin County holds the site of the Longgang Revolution, this is one of China’s important protected cultural sites.
