2024 Wuyishan Scenic Area Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Compared to Xiamen, I am more in love with this treasure city recommended by National Geographic
In Fujian, I encountered a treasure land like a fairyland—Wuyi Mountain 🎑. It is not only recognized as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations but also praised by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful places in China, which deeply fascinates me 😍.
2. Summer Resort
Wuyi Mountain is an excellent place to escape the summer heat. The summer temperature is moderate, the mountains are high and dense, and the vegetation is rich, bringing natural coolness. Streams and waterfalls like Jiuqu Stream and Qinglong Waterfall are filled with mist, effectively cooling the air. The temperature difference between day and night is significant, making the nights cool and comfortable. Here, you can stroll through the mountains, take a bamboo raft, or camp by the stream, enjoying the coolness and tranquility. But remember to take sun protection and mosquito repellent measures.

You must experience the bamboo raft on Nine Bend River
Wuyi Mountain is known as "It's a waste of time if you don't take a bamboo raft". The whole journey is about 9.5km, and it takes 1.5 hours. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Nine Bend River all the way.
·
The ticket is CNY130 per person. There are 8 people in a boat. Tourists need to form a group of 8 people to enter the dock and take the boat.
The explanation fee is CNY20 per person, which is voluntary. It is paid separately to the boatman and needs the unanimous consent of all the people in the boat. The boatman is humorous and can create a lively atmosphere, but the explanation content is not nutritious, just saying what the stone looks like. However, if you pay the explanation fee, you can row slowly, and the boatman will help you take pictures. The main thing is that since you are here, it's good to listen to it!
·
1️⃣The water flow on the bamboo raft is not large, you can wear sports shoes on the boat;
2️⃣Pay attention to sun protection. I took the earliest bamboo raft at 8 o'clock in the morning, and it was still very sunny. Be sure to take sun protection measures. You can use an umbrella on the bamboo raft;
3️⃣You can buy fish food to feed the fish. There are many white fish and red-eyed fish in the stream. It's interesting to feed the fish.

Wish you a happy National Day holiday in advance😘
During the National Day holiday, why not go out and meet the scenery you have never seen before🌲. Whether it's mountains, rivers, lakes, seas, ancient cities or small towns, they are all good places for the soul.
Give your soul a holiday. Bring your family👩👩👧, invite your friends👫, travel together, let the beautiful scenery🚵♂️and happy time heal your fatigue.
I regret not visiting this hidden gem sooner, which was featured in National Geographic.
I regret not visiting this hidden gem sooner, which was featured in National Geographic.
I found a hidden gem near Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was featured in National Geographic. Wuyi Mountain is definitely worth a visit! Plus, admission is now free!
When you step into the fairyland of Wuyi Mountain, you can only hear the whispers of nature. It's as if it's telling you to take a break when you're tired. After a rain, the oxygen-rich journey begins. In the early morning, the mountains are shrouded in mist, like a fairyland. The distant mountains are like landscape paintings. Take a bamboo raft and drift along the river, passing through the misty valleys. The beauty of the Ten-Mile Gallery is comparable to the landscape of Guilin! If you like traveling, leisure, photography, and checking in, you won't be disappointed here.
Wuyishan | Come here for National Day travel.
|Come here for National Day travel. The air in Wuyishan is really, really comfortable!
🌈The negative oxygen ion content is super high, so you can only take deep breaths here.
🌈I didn't like climbing mountains, so I chose the Jiuku Creek rafting. In the off-season, it's all about fate. Even the boat tickets were bought on the spot. There were staff in the hall who helped with the boat pooling. Actually, the little brother's explanation was quite interesting, but the other people on the boat didn't want to pay for the explanation fee, so our boat was very quiet and we rowed very fast. After going ashore, it was Song Street. I ate a Wuyixing Da Hong Pao ice cream, which tasted okay, but 20 yuan was a bit expensive.
🌈Along Song Street, you can go to Zhizhian Temple. You can also take photos and play near the water along the way. The rooster at Zhizhian Temple is particularly beautiful. If you praise it, it will crow loudly.
🌈There is a trail connecting the Shuilian Cave and Da Hong Pao scenic areas. The name is quite nice, called Rock Bone Flower Fragrance Leisure Trail. The whole journey is 3.5 kilometers, and there is basically no need to climb. We walked slowly and it took about two and a half hours.
The high negative oxygen ions make walking completely effortless. The entire environment of Wuyishan is full of greenery, which is very comfortable. Humidity, temperature, negative oxygen content, I really envy the friends who live here. The aroma of tea leaves will waft from every tea factory, big or small.
🌈The hotel should be chosen in the Sanggu Resort Area, which is more lively and convenient. However, it is best to choose a hotel closer to the South Gate, otherwise it will be time-consuming and laborious to take a taxi back and forth every day.
The small light cakes are crispy, but too oily.
Coming here for a vacation, even if you don't climb mountains, you will feel comfortable and relaxed just by walking around the foot of the mountain every day.

Wuyi Mountain Dahongpao Scenic Area: A Tangible Illusion of Floating in the Air
Under the scorching 40-degree sun, I took a tour around Wuyi Mountain. For someone who has no knowledge of tea, seeing Dahongpao was purely for checking off a list. However, on the way to the Water Curtain Cave in the Dahongpao Scenic Area, I saw a clear stream and small fish swimming leisurely in the water. In an instant, the phrase 'clear spring flows over stones' came to life, and the illusion of floating in the air became tangible.
Visiting the scenic area in summer is best done in the early morning or late evening. It is really hot at noon. The temperature difference between morning and evening is quite large here, so it's suitable to climb the mountains in the early morning or late evening. At noon, when it's hot, you can play in the water at the foot of Goddess Peak. As for taking a bamboo raft, it's recommended to go early in the morning, as it gets hot in the afternoon.
You can take motorcycles or private cars inside or near the scenic area if needed. The prices are not expensive. The drivers mainly attract customers to restaurants, hotels, or tea shops. Generally, if you have a specific destination, they will take you there. Just make sure to ask about the price before getting in the car.

No wonder Guo Moruo said that Wuyi Mountain is even more beautiful than Guilin!|||
|||. After traveling around the world, I stepped into the exquisite small town of Wuyi Mountain and began my journey of residence.||| During those years of traveling abroad, I often missed the days of traveling around China in the second half of 2020.
Sometimes, I am enamored with the tranquility of a secluded corner; sometimes, I am intoxicated by the ancient charm of small bridges and flowing water; sometimes, I am obsessed with the graceful landscapes; sometimes, I am fond of the majestic and beautiful snow-capped mountains.
Over the years, I have always been on the road of travel, constantly exploring the lifestyle I love. I am passionate about experiencing the colorful world and willing to feel the complexities of human life. Therefore, for my first trip after returning to China, I kept thinking and finally chose Wuyi Mountain as the first stop after my global journey.
Firstly, there are places among China's 57 world heritage sites that I have not yet visited; secondly, I still vividly remember the wonderful experience of watching the Tulou in Nanjing in the spring of 2021.
For me, Wuyi Mountain is a pleasant surprise in domestic travel. This city is small and exquisite, possessing the elegance of Hui-style architecture and the unique charm of northern Fujian. The oxygen concentration in Wuyi Mountain is so high that it can cause oxygen intoxication. Sometimes, even after a long sleep the previous night, I still feel extremely drowsy during the day.
During my days of residence in Wuyi Mountain, I explored numerous mountains, played in countless streams, tasted a lot of tea, and enjoyed many northern Fujian delicacies that I had never tried before. This is a delicate small town, suitable for gathering with a few friends or family on weekends. It can dispel our fatigue after busy days, like a clear stream in this noisy and impetuous world.
✅ Wuyi Mountain 5 Days 4 Nights Itinerary Guide
Day 1️⃣
Arrive at Wuyi Mountain from various places, head to the hotel to drop off luggage.
Experience the bamboo raft on Jiuqu Stream, the essence of Wuyi Mountain tourism.
The whole journey takes 1 hour. After the Jiuqu Stream rafting, find a tea house to taste tea.
Day 2️⃣
✴️ Take a bus from Wuyi Mountain to Hongxing Village Visitor Center (transfer to the scenic area eco-friendly car), head to Moon Bay, Longchuan Canyon Rafting, Qinglong Waterfall, Wild Monkey Valley, Xianfeng Ridge, and finally return to Wuyi Mountain.
Today's highlight is the Longchuan Canyon Rafting, which is also my favorite place.
Day 3️⃣
Take a bus from Wuyi Mountain to Wufu Town, visit Wufu Ten Thousand Mu Lotus Pond, Xingxian Ancient Street, Zhu Xi's Hometown, Ziyang Tower.
✴️ Wufu Town is an ancient town from the Song Dynasty, one of the few ancient towns with almost no commercial atmosphere, suitable for leisurely strolls.
Day 4️⃣
Visit Dahongpao Scenic Area, Rock Bone Flower Fragrance Trail, Mother Tree Dahongpao, Jiulongke Canyon, Feilai Peak, Eagle Beak Rock, Huiyuan Zen Temple, Water Curtain Cave, Wuyi Palace, Song Street, Jade Maiden Peak, Tianyou Peak.
✳️ My favorite attractions are the landmarks of Wuyi Mountain, Jade Maiden Peak and Tianyou Peak.
Day 5️⃣
Visit Yixiantian, Tiancheng Zen Temple, Hero Slope, Tiger Roaring Rock, Baiyun Zen Temple (internet-famous check-in point).
✅ If you don't have enough time, you can check the 3 Days 2 Nights itinerary on the homepage!
Additionally, when you come to Wuyi Mountain, you must not miss tasting tea, which is the soul of Wuyi Mountain and the entire journey. Wuyi Mountain rock tea (Dahongpao, Jin Junmei, Zhengshan Xiaozhong) is worth a try.
Wuyi Mountain, known as 'the extraordinary spectacle of the southeast,' is worth a visit
Just when I thought Xiamen was already beautiful, I visited Wuyi Mountain, and that's what I call true beauty...

Life advice, be sure to visit Wuyi Mountain on a rainy day
🚅 Wuyi Mountain Transportation
Take the high-speed train to Wuyi Mountain Station/Nanping Station. Wuyi Mountain Station is closer to the Sanggu Resort area. If you get off at Nanping Station, you can take the tram for about 40 minutes to reach Wuyi Mountain Station, with a fare of 10 yuan, and there is a tram every 15-20 minutes. When you reach the terminal station and come out, the South Gate of Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area is right across the street.
Route 1️⃣ Jiuquxi Rafting—Wuyi Palace—Song Street—Zhizhi An
🌊 Jiuquxi Rafting: After arriving at the south gate of the scenic area, you can take a sightseeing bus to the bamboo raft ticket office. The whole bamboo raft journey is about 1h40min, 130 yuan per person. Each bamboo raft can accommodate 8 people. After boarding the raft, the passengers will discuss whether they want an explanation, which costs 20 yuan per person. Personally, I suggest getting the explanation, otherwise, you're just taking a raft ride and looking at the mountains without knowing anything.
The end point of the bamboo raft is Wuyi Palace, where you can visit Wuyi Palace and Song Street, and then head towards Zhizhi An. On the way to Zhizhi An, there is a fish viewing spot where the stream is very clear, and you can see the red-eyed fish.
Wuyi Palace, Song Street: Located at the end of the Jiuquxi rafting, Wuyi Palace, also known as Huixian Temple, Chongyou Temple, and Wannian Palace, is the place where emperors of past dynasties worshipped the Wuyi God.
👍🏻 Zhizhi An: My favorite hidden gem on this route! A thousand-year-old ancient temple, Taoism talks about thirty-six heavenly caves, and Zhizhi An is the 'sixteenth heavenly cave'. The name comes from 'act when it's time to act, stop when it's time to stop'.
Route 2️⃣ Dahongpao Scenic Area—Tianxin Yongle Zen Temple
Dahongpao Scenic Area: Don't just go to see the Dahongpao mother tree when visiting the Dahongpao Scenic Area. At the fork under the Dahongpao mother tree, you will see a sign for p5. Follow this route from the Dahongpao mother tree to the Shuilian Cave. You won't be disappointed by this path, be sure to complete the entire journey! It's a super purifying journey for the body and soul.
Tianxin Yongle Zen Temple: You can take the scenic area bus to the Dahongpao attraction, then climb a short distance to reach it, or you can use Didi or a private car (which needs to be reported), and vehicles can drive directly to the parking lot of Tianxin Yongle Zen Temple, where there is a special QR code to scan and report for parking. In addition to the main halls, don't miss the old residences on the mountain.
Route 3️⃣ Tongmu Village/Tongmu Pass (Cucumber Waterfall - Qinglong Waterfall - Hongxing Village - Tongmu Pass)
Tongmu Pass is located at the border of Fujian Province and Jiangxi Province. It is the birthplace of black tea in the world and the original production area of 'Lapsang Souchong' and 'Jin Jun Mei' in China and even the world. When traveling to Wuyi Mountain, be sure to arrange a day to come here to breathe in oxygen and experience nature. It's like an unspoiled primeval forest that hasn't been polluted, and entering on a rainy day is like arriving in a misty fairyland. Due to special environmental protection, you need a local person to help report in advance to enter. The only way to visit is by self-driving or renting a car.
Here you can feed monkeys, and the small shops sell monkey food, but the monkeys didn't come out because it rained the day we went 🥲
🥘 Outside the Scenic Area for Food and Accommodation:
For dining, you can go to the old street, where there are more options in the living area. Be sure to try the local specialties, Guangbing and Vietnamese Pho 🤩
For accommodation, there are many homestays in Wuyi Mountain, and it is more convenient to stay near the Sanggu Resort area.

The primal tension of nature
Not only can one witness the primal tension of nature here, but also the mesmerizing peaks, clear waters, and Danxia landforms that make one linger and forget to return. The 36 peaks, 72 caves, and 99 rocks form this vast landscape painting, which is the World Cultural and Natural Heritage site--Mount Wuyi.
I thought Quanzhou was beautiful enough until I went to Wuyi Mountain
Recommend a good treasure spot when traveling around Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai.
Only after I went there did I realize that Wuyi Mountain is really low-key.
Named a World Heritage Site by the United Nations
Recommended many times by National Geographic as the most worthwhile place to visit
Every piece of green under the limited spring rain can heal people
The smoky mountains and rivers look like landscape paintings

1️⃣Wuyi Palace
The palace courtyard at the foot of Dawangfeng Mountain is the drop-off point for bamboo rafting. There is also the "Osmanthus King" planted by Zhu Xi in the courtyard. Song Street inside is a busy food street for tourists.
·
2️⃣Zhizhi’an
A very clean Taoist temple. The scenery along the way is very good. The mysterious and deep nunnery is very atmospheric. You can go and take pictures.
.
3️⃣Tianyou Peak
The most worth climbing mountain in Wuyi Mountain is that although it is not high, it is a bit steep. The clouds and mist on the mountain are so beautiful and you can overlook the Jiuqu River. When you take pictures, it looks like a landscape painting.
·
4️⃣Jiuqu River Bamboo Raft
A must-experience project when visiting Wuyi Mountain. The beautiful scenery of Shili Gallery is not inferior to that of the Li River in Guilin. It is worth it to have a panoramic view of the green mountains and green water.
·
5️⃣Baiyun Temple
You need to take a taxi to this unique spot. It is also a check-in place for watching the sunrise and sea of clouds in Wuyi Mountain. There is also the most cinematic green steps next to the temple, which creates a quiet atmosphere and feels like a movie.

🏡【How to stay】
For accommodation, we recommend Yiqu Xiangsi Aihu Resort Hotel at the foot of Dawangfeng Mountain in Sangu Resort. It is just a few minutes walk from the door to Wuyi Palace, and across the river is the commercial street. Transportation is very convenient.
The hotel's environment is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and their intentions can be seen in the complete details of various hardware facilities. The carousel in the courtyard gave me a big surprise, providing a new entertainment method for parent-child travel.
The hotel has many room types. This time I stayed in the Mountain Residence Two-Bedroom Loft Wooden House Suite. I really liked the floor-to-ceiling windows upstairs. Outside the window was the scenery of Dawangfeng. It was really enjoyable to relax and drink tea in this scenery.

🥢【How to eat】
You must experience the food in Wuyishan. I recommend a gourmet treasure store (Aihu Restaurant) that I ate at for two days in a row.
Recommended food:
Fish with garlic sauce, tiger skin chicken feet, beef taro, sauerkraut and bamboo shoots, osmanthus and lotus seed soup
I thought Quanzhou was already beautiful, until I went to Mount Wuyi
There's a hidden gem near the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai area that I recommend for a local trip. Only after visiting did I realize how understated Mount Wuyi is, having been designated a World Heritage Site by the United Nations.
It has been recommended multiple times by 'National Geographic' as one of the most worthwhile places to visit. In the spring rain, every shade of green is healing, and the misty mountains and rivers are like a landscape painting. Boating on the clear waves continues this spring romance to the fullest.
If you don't know where to go for the May Day holiday, believe me, Mount Wuyi is really worth it
The magnificent Wuyi Mountains
The Wuyi Mountains are located at the border of Jiangxi and the northwest of Fujian province, featuring a typical Danxia landform and are a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site. China has 57 World Heritage sites; among them, there are 39 World Cultural Heritage sites, 14 World Natural Heritage sites, and only 4 sites that are both World Cultural and Natural Heritage, which are Mount Tai, Huangshan, Mount Emei, and the Wuyi Mountains. The Wuyi Mountains are also renowned as a mountain of the three teachings, where Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism have left behind numerous palaces, Taoist temples, and monastery ruins since the Qin and Han dynasties.
Great Wuyi Mountain, here I come!
At the end of December 23 years ago, I suddenly wanted to go to Wuyi Mountain. Then I booked flights and hotels, arranged work, and started a spontaneous trip with my husband . I had been to Wuyi Mountain once before, and I bought a three-day ticket at that time. I felt that three days were not enough, so I planned to play for three days this time. But after arriving at Wuyi Mountain, I heard that the tickets are now free, and I felt like I had made a profit. This time I can play for a few more days . The scenic spots in Wuyi Mountain are very good, and the transportation in the scenic area is also very convenient. The mountain roads are easy to walk, and of course, there are some more adventurous scenic spots. This time I revisited all the scenic spots I had been to last time, discovered some new scenic spots, and ate two vegetarian meals in the temple in the mountain. I stayed in Wuyi Mountain for five days and still didn't have enough . It's worth mentioning that I lived in Wuyi Mountain Villa at the foot of Dawang Peak. Not only is it convenient to go anywhere, but the hotel environment is also particularly great! The hotel's buffet restaurant also offers many local delicacies from Wuyi Mountain, which is an experience I haven't had in many hotels.
