2024 Warsaw Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Almost entirely demolished by the Nazis during World War II. Warsaw has since risen from the ashes and re established itself as the capital of Poland. Not surprisingly, postwar architecture of Warsaw is rather bleak, a legacy of the Soviet Union’s iron grip on the region. However, the Polish rebuilt the historical old town in the ŚRódmieśCore (inner city) district, with beautiful buildings such as the Palace of Culture and Science (a complex with two universities, several theaters, a museum and a concert hall), the Royal Castle, the Castle Square and the Polish Parliament. The area also caters to history buff with a variety of museums such as the Warsaw History Museum and the Frederick Chopin Museum.

Through the Storm: A Windy Evening Above Warsaw's Cityscape
#cityscape #100waysoftravel #poland #warsaw
We went to the Palace of Culture and Science observation deck on a cold, windy, and rainy evening. Located on the 30th floor, 114 meters above ground, it offers the best panoramic view of Warsaw’s expansive cityscape. The moment we stepped outside, the gusts of wind howled through the railings, and the rain lashed against the glass, but the sight below was captivating. The city stretched out in every direction, its streets illuminated by shimmering streetlights and passing cars. Iconic landmarks, like the Royal Castle and the Vistula River, appeared faint through the haze, their beauty softened by the drizzle. Despite the biting cold, the vibrant energy of the city pulsed beneath us, blending modern skyscrapers with historic architecture. The turbulent weather gave the skyline a moody, almost cinematic quality, with the twinkling lights reflecting off the wet rooftops. It was an unforgettable view, capturing the essence of Warsaw—a city where history and modernity coexist against the backdrop of gloomy skies.
Golden Autumn Serenity: An Unplanned Stroll Through Warsaw's Saxon Gardens
#fallcolors #100waysoftravel #garden #autumn #autumnday
We hadn’t planned to visit Saxon Gardens, but as we walked past on our way to Warsaw Old Town, we were irresistibly drawn in by the fantastic autumn colors. As one of the oldest public parks in Warsaw, Saxon Gardens has long been known for its peaceful ambiance and beautifully landscaped paths, but in golden autumn, it transforms into something truly magical. The trees, dressed in rich shades of gold, orange, and yellow, seemed to glow in the warm afternoon light. Leaves drifted gently to the ground, forming a golden carpet underfoot. Autumn in Warsaw is a special time when the city’s parks, like Saxon Gardens, offer a stunning retreat from the urban pace, and we couldn’t resist taking an unexpected, tranquil detour through this colorful autumn oasis.
A Perfect Fall Afternoon at Ujazdowski Park

Our visit to Ujazdowski Park on a beautiful sunny fall afternoon was like stepping into a painting. The golden and amber hues of the autumn leaves danced in the sunlight, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Every path was lined with trees shedding their colorful foliage, the ground covered in a soft blanket of reds, yellows, and browns. As we strolled through the park, the crisp autumn air filled our lungs, and the peacefulness of the setting made it the perfect escape. The reflections of the fall colors in the park's serene ponds added to the enchanting beauty of the day, making it an unforgettable autumn experience.
Start of autumn in Warsaw 🗺️
#autumnseason
Just returned from a fantastic trip to Warsaw, and it’s a city full of surprises! 🏙️ I started my visit in the Old Town, which is beautifully rebuilt after WWII. The colorful buildings and charming streets make it perfect for a leisurely stroll. The entrance to the Royal Castle is €12, and touring the opulent rooms and seeing the grand halls was a highlight. 👑
One of my favorite spots was Łazienki Park. It’s free to enter and offers lovely walking paths, a beautiful lake, and the impressive Palace on the Isle. 🏞️ I also visited the Warsaw Uprising Museum (€10 entry), which provides a poignant look at the city’s WWII history. The exhibits are well-curated and moving.
In the evenings, I enjoyed wandering around the vibrant Praga district, known for its lively nightlife and street art. 🍻 Warsaw's blend of historical charm and modern energy made this trip unforgettable. Can’t wait to return! #trip #Warsaw #Poland #CityBreak #HistoricalCharm #TravelAdventures
Autumn in Park Świętokrzyski Poland 🇵🇱
#autumnseason
Just got back from a wonderful autumn day at Park Świętokrzyski in Warsaw, and I have to say, it was absolutely beautiful! 🍁🍂 The park is located right in the heart of the city, next to the iconic Palace of Culture and Science, so it's really easy to find. The best part? There’s no entrance fee, so you can enjoy all the beauty for free! 😍 As soon as I entered, I was greeted by vibrant fall colors—golden yellows, deep reds, and oranges everywhere. The trees were just starting to shed their leaves, creating a soft, colorful carpet on the ground. I loved walking around the winding paths, taking in the crisp air and the lovely scent of autumn. 🌳
There are plenty of benches where you can sit and relax, which I did for a bit, just people-watching and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. There’s also a small pond with ducks and a couple of cute little bridges that are perfect for photos. 📸 If you’re into architecture, the park has some cool sculptures and art installations scattered around that add to its charm. Plus, it’s just a short walk from Nowy Świat street, so I grabbed a coffee to go from one of the nearby cafes and sipped it while exploring.
After my stroll in the park, I headed over to the Palace of Culture and Science to check out the viewing terrace on the 30th floor. It’s only a 10-minute walk away, and the views of Warsaw from up there are just breathtaking! 🏙️ If you have more time, the nearby Złote Tarasy shopping mall is great for some retail therapy or grabbing a bite to eat.

Rising Above Warsaw: My Journey Through the Iconic Palace of Culture and Science
#europeanarchitecture #100waysoftravel #poland #warsaw #Warsawtrip #polandtrip #palaceofculture
On a rainy night, my visit to the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw revealed a dramatic and mysterious side of this iconic building.
The towering structure, shrouded in mist and illuminated by city lights, took on an almost cinematic quality.
The next day, the weather transformed dramatically; under a clear blue sky, the palace’s grand architecture shone brightly, and its intricate façade was vividly displayed.
Staying nearby allowed me to experience both moods of this monumental landmark, from its atmospheric, rain-drenched elegance to its vibrant, sunlit grandeur.
The Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw is an imposing symbol of the city's post-war history and stands as Poland's tallest building. Gifted by the Soviet Union in 1955, it was a controversial structure, initially seen as a reminder of Soviet dominance. However, over time, it has become one of Warsaw's most recognizable landmarks.
The palace's architecture reflects the Socialist Realist style, blending Soviet monumentalism with elements of Polish Gothic and Renaissance traditions. Its intricate façade is adorned with reliefs, spires, and clock towers, reminiscent of classical skyscrapers.
Today, the Palace of Culture and Science houses theaters, cinemas, museums, and even an observation deck on the 30th floor, offering panoramic views of Warsaw’s modern skyline. Though its origins are steeped in political symbolism, it has since transformed into a cultural and social hub at the heart of the city
Heart of History: Uncover Chopin, Papal Legacy, and Baroque Beauty at Warsaw’s Holy Cross Church
#churches #100waysoftravel #poland #warsaw #Chopin #catholic #catholicchurch #Holycross
During my visit to the Holy Cross Church in Warsaw, I was drawn not only by its beautiful Baroque architecture but also by its deep historical significance.
The church, one of Warsaw’s most important religious sites, has witnessed centuries of the city’s history, including its destruction during World War II and subsequent reconstruction.
While the highlight for many visitors is the urn containing the heart of Poland’s beloved composer, Frédéric Chopin, the church holds even more.
It was here that Pope John Paul II, during his many visits to Warsaw, delivered moving sermons, strengthening his connection with the Polish people. The church’s striking twin towers and ornate interior, adorned with religious art and sculptures, serve as a reminder of Warsaw's spiritual resilience and rich cultural legacy.
🕰️Business Hours:The Holy Cross Church in Warsaw is generally open for visitors from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily. However, it's important to note that these hours may vary on religious holidays or for special events, so it's always a good idea to check in advance. Be mindful that the church is an active place of worship, and visitors should plan their visit outside of Mass times to fully explore the interior.
Warsaw's Tram Ways

2. Tickets: You’ll need a valid ticket to ride the tram. Tickets can be purchased at kiosks, vending machines, or via mobile apps. Be sure to validate your ticket before boarding.
3. Tram Stops: Trams have frequent stops, which are usually marked with clear signage. Information about the next stops and connections is often displayed inside the tram.
4. Frequency and Hours: Trams run frequently, especially during peak hours. The service generally starts around 5:00 AM and runs until late at night, with some lines operating 24/7.

Overall, Warsaw’s trams are a reliable and convenient way to explore the city.

Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanów 🇵🇱
#museums
This summer, I had the chance to visit the Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanów in Warsaw, and it was a highlight of my trip to Poland. 🌟 The palace is an absolute gem, a stunning example of Baroque architecture that’s often called the "Polish Versailles." The entrance fee was 40 PLN (about 10 USD), which grants you access to both the palace interiors and the beautiful gardens, making it well worth the price.
Walking through the palace, I was blown away by the lavishly decorated rooms, each one filled with exquisite art, antique furniture, and intricate details that speak volumes about the opulent lifestyle of King Jan III Sobieski. Madame Interpreter’s journal The Wilanów Palace in Warsaw
The Wilanów Palace is a Baroque pearl of Warsaw. The palace and the garden have remained unchanged despite the partitions, wars and occupations. Here you will feel like King Jan III Sobieski - the conqueror of the Turks from Vienna, who in 1683 stopped their march through Europe. The ruler, who gained the nickname of the fearless Lechistan Lion in Europe, lived there together with his beloved wife Marysieńka.
In the palace you will see the apartments of the king and the apartments of Queen Maria Casimire, including the Chinese, Dutch, Antiquities and the Potocki Museum. Stop for a longer time in the White Room to see the images of the successive owners of the palace and people associated with them.
In winter, Wilanów invites you to the Royal Garden of Light. Walking through it, you will encounter beautiful figures from a bygone era, animals and plants of fanciful shapes. The darkness of the night is illuminated by thousands of lights that dance to the rhythm of classical music during special shows.
Palace of Culture and Science, Poland 🇵🇱
One of the highest and most recognisable building in Warsaw can be seen from almost every part of the capital. With a total height of 237 metres (778 ft) it is the second tallest building in both Warsaw and Poland after Varso. Built by Russian workers, for a long time, it was considered to be a symbol of socialist power and the pride of People’s Poland – it was where conventions of the Polish United Workers’ Party took place. #poland #warsaw #capital

The National Museum in Warsaw
The National Museum in Warsaw is one of the oldest art museums in Poland. It was established in 1862 as the Museum of Fine Arts, but its seat was not built until 1927–1938. The building in the modernist style was designed by Tadeusz Tołwiński.
Today, the Museum's collections include approximately 830,000 works of Polish and world art, from antiquity to the present day. They include painting, sculpture, drawings and engravings, photographs, numismatics, as well as objects of applied art and design.
The museum houses a wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures and crafts from all eras, from antiquity to the present day. Masterpieces of Polish and world art are presented in thematic galleries.
In the 19th-century Art Gallery, you will be amazed by the most outstanding works of Polish artists shown in the context of European works. An undoubted attraction is the "Battle of Grunwald" by Jan Matejko. This is the largest Polish painting, the canvas of which is nearly 40 m2 (4.26 x 9.87 m).

PRL Museum in Warsaw
PRL is a time of many paradoxes. On the one hand, the reconstruction of the country from war damage was accompanied by huge public enthusiasm, on the other hand, it was impossible to escape the intensified party propaganda of success, and the scale of persecution by the Security Services was unprecedented in history. The average inhabitant of Poland at that time suffered the effects of orders and restrictions resulting from the inefficiency of nationalized industry every day, but these were also times of increased creativity and resourcefulness.
The aim of the exhibition is to show the everyday life of the People's Republic of Poland. The interiors and objects presented at the exhibition tell a story about how the policy of "people's power" influenced the daily lives of the citizens affected by its actions. They are valuable witnesses to history. They are a documentation of the changing realities and social needs in times when everything had to be "arranged" or organized.
