#myfoodies First omakase experience here at Yù Qí (毓鮨割烹料理) I couldn’t find the english name, and it was pretty good. It was a 17-course lunch, priced at NTD1380! Pretty worth the price I would say. They do not charge corkage fee, but there is a variety of alcohol to choose from in house as well. Service was good and food was fresh! The chef was nice to translate the name of dishes because the chinese terms used were too difficult for us to comprehend. Give it a try! Remember to make reservation before hand. pop into Wenting Hot Pot while in ximending as we were tired of shopping and wanted to have an afternoon tea break - and we became the only customers. but interestingly, customers started to come in as we were about to finish. we ordered a double base soup - the soups were flavourful. for the suan la fish soup base, we even had fish slices that came with the soup (super worth).the other ingredients were fresh. also, there is a Haagen Daazs Ice Cream Bar, which there are 8 flavours to choose from. As for the dining experience, it was clean and modern. When you are in Ximending night market, there are 2 kinds of people, shoppers and foodies! For me, it's definitely all about the food, the Taiwanese Street food! There are many vendors here along the street of Ximending selling all your local Taiwanese cuisine, like you wrapped rice with chopped vegetables and Taiwanese sausage, your fried mashed potatoes with melted cheese, ahm and broccoli, the bubble teas and the many desserts here. Most of the stalls here have really long queue and you have to just queue to get these yummy delights, but it won't take long as the queue goes really fast. For cheap eats, please be sure to come to the Shi-men Ting street. The famous white bittergourd juice can be found there. I love the bitterness it gives, and enjoyed the drink. The famous fried chicken can also be found there. It is nicer than the one we had here. The chicken cutlet is always having long queue. There were many restaurants offering steam boats and grilled food. The cold celery salad has a great texture and aroma. It's rare to find celery in noodle shops, so this is a must-try. I also really like the chicken intestines. They are tender and flavorful, comparable to those from famous braised food shops. The pig's feet are of the elastic kind, with a moderate taste that is neither too strong nor too salty. They are not bad, but also not particularly memorable. If you like pig's feet, you can give them a try. The wonton and meatball soup is on the lighter side. The meatballs are of good quality with a high meat content, and the wontons are fresh and delicious. The broth is a bit too light, which is a pity. If the broth had more aroma, it would be perfect. This is the Huajiang House in Wanhua District. It is an old building in Taipei. It is also the filming location for the Korean girl group NewJeans’ song How Sweet MV. I just love eating good food. When the holidays come, I will come up with a list of delicious foods that I have prepared in advance and taste them everywhere. Today’s breakfast was at the “Shaobing Youtiao Shop” behind Wanhua China Times, where we had a traditional local breakfast. This breakfast shop has no real name, it’s just called the Shaobing Youtiao Shop. Their meals are all handmade; as the name suggests The most famous one is the sesame seed fried dough sticks, which are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Another famous egg pancake, the crust is crispy and not hard, and the eggs are soft and tender; coupled with their garlic chili sauce, it adds to its deliciousness. Let’s talk about their salty soy milk. Although it doesn’t seem to be much different from ordinary salty soy milk, when you taste it, you will find that the soy milk is tender and not too spicy, just like soft tofu. This is a highly recommended breakfast restaurant.
