The building was a hospital for Chinese medical services back in the 19th Century and became a Temple when the hospital closed down in 1886 before it was demolished in 1920. To preserve Chinese-style buildings in Wan Chai, this remaining balcony type in Hong Kong was renovated in 2015 and is listed as a Grade I hitoric building.
