Driving through the Brecon Beacons was a highlight—rugged hills, hidden waterfalls, and sheep everywhere you look! Snowdonia National Park was the next stop. We didn’t have time to hike Snowdon, but the drive alone offered jaw-dropping views. We took a detour to Conwy, a charming town with a medieval castle (entry was about £11). The historic vibe combined with the seaside setting made it magical. What really stood out about Wales was the peacefulness of the countryside. It's completely unspoilt. The sand and smooth slate-shingle is met by cool clear still waters and steep cliffs on either side. Access is via the footpaths that hug the very edge of the coastline. The famous Dinas Island walk, a circular loop which climbs and falls dramatically along the rocky edge with astonishing views, brings you round to the Old Sailors pub on Fishguard Bay for a well-deserved pint of Felinfoel and a doorstep-thick crab sandwich.

Scafell Pike is often part of the "Three Peaks" challenge, where climbers attempt to summit the highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis), and Wales (Snowdon) within 24 hours. From the summit, climbers can enjoy spectacular views of the Lake District, including Wastwater Lake, known as the deepest lake in England. On clear days, views can extend as far as the Isle of Man and Scotland. The most popular route up Scafell Pike is from Wasdale Head, which is the quickest and most direct route to the summit. There are also longer routes from Eskdale and Borrowdale, but they offer different views. The misty mountains, rolling green hills, and serene lakes made me feel like I was walking through a postcard! One of the highlights was visiting the picturesque town of Conwy , where I wandered through the narrow streets and explored the historic Conwy Castle. The sense of history in Wales is palpable, and learning about the medieval past while soaking in the coastal views made it an enriching experience. I also had a lot of fun trying out some local Welsh delicacies—Welsh cakes quickly became my favorite snack!
