Font de Soler i Gustems
Plaça de Soler i Gustems, 5, 08800 Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona
This fountain is dedicated to Joaquim Soler i Gustems, who paid 7,500 pesos to build a fountain monument for himself at the time of his death (1891). The committee would set the location at Plaza Carlos and entrusted the project to the architect Josep Font i Gumà (Vilanova i la Geltrú, Garraf, January 23, 1859 - July 4, 1922), which was inaugurated on 17, 1893, and on June 5, 1902, by municipal agreement, the square took the name of Soler i Gustems.
It is a stone building with a circular base with two trellises, a triangular base with three ribs and three brogues, a column with a triangular section and a sculptural crown.
The top placement comes with some classic inspired supporting elements. Simulate a column with a base, shaft, and decorative capital. The columns have various inscriptions, the crowns have warriors' helmets, shields of Catalonia and Vilanova, and fulles d'acant.
It was dedicated on January 17, 1893, the day of the city’s patron saint, St. Antonio Abate.
