Heuan Lao Guesthouse in Vientiane is a warm and cozy homestay. 💐This homestay is not commercialized like a hotel, which meets my imagination of a homestay. The homestay owner is a passionate old couple, which makes me feel at home and relieves the fatigue of a long journey. 💗 The homestay is in a good location, within walking distance to the main attractions in Vientiane, but it is quiet in the bustling alley next to the main road. The decoration style of the homestay is unique, mainly wooden buildings, retaining traditional Lao elements. The room is a bit old, but it is clean and tidy, and it feels like living in a local's home. 😊 The cats are the cutest guests. I remember when we checked in, the grandma picked up a stray kitten from the ground and stuffed it into my cat-loving friend's arms. My friend was so happy. The cats like to accompany the old couple in the sunny afternoon and enjoy the quiet time together. During my stay here, I didn't count how many cats there were. 😸The sun shines through the green shade on the ground, and I lie barefoot on the floor, tease the cats, and chat with the old couple, listen to their stories, which is also a different travel experience. 💮

The morning market in Vientiane was pretty simple and laid-back, just a small spot tucked between some houses. It had all the usual fresh produce you'd find across Southeast Asia, the vegetables you would recognize right away for instance, the bird eye chillis which is one of the main ingredients in local cuisine. It was as if we stepped out of the blistering humidity of Lao PDR into a cool Parisian cafe which serve pretty and delicious and fresh french pastries….. I indulged in their strawberry flat croissant and an iced caramel latte, while my friends ordered an affogato and chocolate mousse cake which came beautifully presented and even a beer Kaogee’s coffee is grown and harvested in Paksong and transported to Vientiane and served so that diners can taste a bit of Laos with the experience of Europe!!! The stairways to the temple’s entrances carry a mythological Naga snake sculptured in stone After that the Siamese King, a Buddhist, remade an identical statue and returned it to Laos, to be replaced where the statue was taken. Through the war years, Wat Phra Kaew was destroyed and restored many times, now it is no longer used for Buddhist worship, it’s turned into a museum preserving precious artifacts such as Buddha statues, a gilded throne for the Emerald Buddha, inscribed Khmer stone steles, some wood sculptures or inscriptions carved in stone There is a large stone jar in the garden, which actually comes from Laos’ mysterious Plain of Jars.

Although the breakfast menu is simple, it was delicious, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, making us feel at ease.
