Afrosiyob~Uzbekistan's Premier Train, 3.5 Hours from Tashkent to Bukhara.
The Afrosiyob high-speed train is undoubtedly one of the best investments made by the Uzbek government. These Spanish-built high-speed trains connect Tashkent with Samarkand and Bukhara, with each journey taking just over 2 hours.
On certain sections, they run at speeds well above 200 km/h!
Tickets can be purchased online. Just log in to keep checking availability. Please note that tickets do sell out quickly.
The Afrosiyob train offers economy class seats in a 2+2 configuration (two seats on each side of the aisle), while business class and VIP seats are in a 1+2 configuration. Even in economy class, we enjoyed small snacks like tea and banana-flavored donuts, along with complimentary tea, coffee, or water.
If possible, purchase seats on the left side of the train in the direction of travel (if heading west), as the left side of the train offers impressive true desert landscapes for most of the route. Observing the gradual change in scenery has always been one of my favorite reasons for train travel, as it allows you to better understand the geography, and thus the culture and history of a country. This is especially true for Bukhara, as the city is built on a desert oasis.
The Afrosiyob high-speed train provides a fast, pleasant, and comfortable way to travel in Uzbekistan. Since this train connects major tourist destinations in Uzbekistan, such as Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, you may find yourself taking at least one Afrosiyob train during your travels in Uzbekistan.
7 days itinerary in Uzbekistan
#myitinerary
I recently went in Uzbekistan with my boyfriend and stayed 8 days.
Here following the results of many months of researches, I hope it can be helpful:
Day 1 - 2 Samarkand
- Amir timur mausoleum
- Registan square with its 3 madrasah, i suggest you to visit it after 5-6 PM for the sunset
- Bibi khanym mosque
- Syoob bazar
- Hazrat mosque
- Shah-I-zinda mausoleum
In my opinion, the most beautiful one it is Shah-I-zinda mausoleum and the Registan is just breathtaking.
*The names of the attractions could be a bit different due to differences of translation from the Cyrillic to Roman letters.
If you have time you could visit also:
- Tomb of Daniel
- Ulubek observatory
- Paper making factory
- Pottery factory
Day 3 Tashkent
- Subway stations, they were mostly built during the Soviet time and you can feel it. All stops are decorated differently, the oldest ones and the most beautiful ones are on the red and blue lines. My favorite subway stations were: alisher navoi and kosmonatvlar
- Eat Plov at Besh Qozon under the Tashkent Television Tower, you won’t regret it!
- Chorsu bazar
🚂 🌜night train from Tashkent to Khiva - around 16-17 hours
Day 4 Khiva
The old city of Khiva is called Ichan Kala and is quite small and walkable. I suggest you to book your stay inside the city or just out of city walls.
- Khuna ark
- City wall
- Tash kauli palace
- Pahlavan Mahmoud mausoleum
- Islam khodja minaret
- Juma mosque
FYI there’s one cumulative ticket for almost all museums and palaces/mosques in Ichan Kala. The price is 200k som.
We had dinner at Old Terrassa, the food was amazing and the view very good. From the restaurant Terrassa, which is probably 100 meters more central than old Terrassa the view is very great! I recommend to book in advance the table outside.
Day 5 - 6 Bukhara
- Kalon minaret by night
- Chor minor
- Ulugh beh & abdulaziz khan madrassa
- Ark of Bukhara
- Bolo- Hausa mosque
I recommend to eat in Old Bukhara restaurant, good food and environment.
Day 7 Nurata
- desert
- swim in the Aydarl lake
- stay in a local yurt or guesthouse
The last day of activities we decided to go to Nurota and have a tour in desert and see the Ayrdal Lake, because in the whole trip it missed a bit of nature for us.
We organized the whole trip with a tour guide, that came to Bukhara to pick us up and drove us in the desert and to lake. The lake is immense and clean.
We arrived there in the north part in the afternoon, we swam one hour and head back to Samarkand for our next day flight.

Witness the glory of the Silk Road.
Uzbekistan
The magnificent murals and architecture are breathtaking. Every tile is a work of art worth admiring.
Uzbekistan is a place you only read about in history books or stories.
The only time you hear about it is when the Soviet Union collapsed.
But they have been on our bedside for a long time.
The prototype of One Thousand and One Nights is here.
Afanti's hometown is here.
This place also witnessed the glory of the ancient Silk Road.
The historical sites will bring tears to your eyes.
The magnificent buildings will make you scream with excitement.
Islamic architecture is truly beautiful.
The beauty of geometric superposition.
The blue folding is so dreamy.
You can't miss Samarkand when you visit Uzbekistan.
It has a history of 2,500 years.
It was the capital of the Timurid Empire.
Although the Timurid Empire only lasted for half a century.
It was replaced by the Uzbeks.
But the restored buildings.
Still tell the golden legend of the past.
Must-see attractions:
Registan Square
The landmark of Samarkand.
The architectural patterns are particularly complex and magnificent.
There is a free light show at night.
Afrasiab Museum
You can see exquisite unearthed murals here.
It tells the story of the ancient Samarkand and the Tang Dynasty.
There is a Chinese documentary in the screening room.
It is worth visiting.

Even a point-and-shoot camera can capture light and shadow.
I declare that a point-and-shoot camera is my best travel companion! I chose to backpack on this half-month trip abroad. The 7 kg weight limit forced me to leave my SLR camera behind. I was pleasantly surprised by the photos I took, and the weight reduction of more than 10 jin was really great~ I no longer have to worry about exceeding the weight limit on budget airlines~!
☑️☑️☑️
Preview, I'm going to update my beloved Uzbekistan trip, a place I want to go again. The most important thing is: it's cheap, fun, and visa-free‼️
⛰️
Friends who want to see the Yunnan guide, please wait a moment! There will be new niche routes to play before the National Day, and Lijiang, Dali, and Shangri-La are all ready for everyone~

Uzbekistan, the must-visit Central Asian
I believe this would be one of those countries you never expect to be listed as one of the must-visits. However, I could say this is one of the best trips in my life.
#uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is located in Central Asian, along with other -Stan countries. It is full of beautiful and historic sites, mausoleums, masjid, etc.
Getting There - There might be a limited flights to the country, and the only direct flight (to Tashkent, the capital city) could be through Uzbekistan Airways.
To get around in each city, you can use a ride-hailing app called Yandex, which is super cheap.
Attractions - I would recommend 4 cities: Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. These should cover most key highlights within the country.
Try it out yourself, and it will change how you think of Central Asia forever!!

Uzbekistan!
Uzbekistan! What an interesting and beautiful place. These pictures are from the city of Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent. The architecture has oriental, Islamic and European elements. The fashion was also very interesting and often colorful, some are made with beautifully embroidered patterns and silk. Food was amazing, with rice cooked with meat and veggies. The diet also has a lot of soups and very flavorful!

Here you will find picnics, picnics, relaxation, boating, swimming in the refreshing waters of the lake. Happy and full of impressions, you will return home in the evening.
Visiting The Aral Sea in Western Uzbekistan
The miserable experiences - and at 50 degrees this day was definitely up there - always tend to be the ones you end up reminiscing about later. This trip out the rusted up ships on the shore of the former Aral Sea in the Republic of Karakalpakstan in Western Uzbekistan was about as nasty as travel gets - hideously hot (the road was actually melting as we drove on it) and afflicted with a dose of the runs, a 5 minute walk out into the desert left you thinking that sweating out, pooping your pants and dying within the next hour might be a distinct possibility.
Getting here is a case of making it to the regional capital, Nukus by plane, bus or train, and using it as a base as the hotels and restaurants are a lot better than the town of Moynaq (where the ships are based).
A taxi will be around $30~35 to take you out there, wait and bring you back. Allow half a day in total.
There's also a pretty cool museum in Moynaq showing the history of the lake with 'then' and 'now' photos.
All in all a unique, but environmentally depressing site to visit.

Traveling alone in Uzbekistan is what kind of experience 1/5
Uzbekistan is a doubly landlocked country located in Central Asia, and several cities within its borders were important components of the ancient Silk Road. Throughout history, its people have established numerous glorious states, and it was also one of the member states of the former Soviet Union. 🇺🇿
Due to my long-standing interest in the history and culture of Uzbekistan, as well as its friendly visa-free policy for Chinese passport holders for up to ten days, I embarked on a journey to Uzbekistan alone. 🚶🏻
This time my travel route is: ✈️ Fly to the capital Tashkent ➡️ Take the high-speed train to Samarkand ➡️ Take the high-speed train to Bukhara ➡️ Charter a car to Khiva ➡️ Take a taxi to Urgench Airport and leave ✈️ The route from east to west takes a total of eight days. 🗺️
Entry guide 📝
1. The prerequisite for visa-free entry is to enter and exit by air, and a stay of up to ten days can be granted. Visa-free entry is not available for entry or exit by land. 🛫
2. The departure ticket must be in the issued status and printed out for the immigration inspection at the entry airport to check the ticket number. 📠
3. The itinerary of the hotel needs to be printed out, and a reservation form should be requested from the hotel when checking out, for inspection by the border control. 🏨
Other suggestions 📝
1. Most ATMs and card machines support UnionPay, but it is recommended to have Visa or Mastercard on hand for emergencies. 💳
2. Some attractions and restaurants only accept cash. You can bring US dollars or Chinese yuan to exchange money at exchange points, but it's better to bring US dollars. Some hotels also provide currency exchange services. 💵
3. Chinese SIM cards can be activated for roaming in Wuguo, or you can buy a phone card at the airport for around $15, which includes about 20GB of data. 📱
4. You can use the Yandex app for taxi rides, which is cheap and has many vehicles available. You can pay online by linking your credit card or pay offline. 🚖
5. It is recommended to use hotel apps starting with B or A for booking, and it is best to book in the old city area of each city, where you can walk to various attractions. 🏨
6. In addition, Uzbekistan is one of the safest countries in Central Asia, and the people are very kind and friendly. They are especially welcoming to people with East Asian features, and there are tourist police patrols in every scenic area. 👮🏻♂️

Walking into the mausoleum of Xia Xinda, it seems to be in the world of the thousand and one nights. This is a gorgeous mausoleum boulevard with forty-four mausoleums, each decorated with beautiful tiles. The mausoleum was built around the tomb of Abbas. He was the first to preach in Central Asia, and later known as Xia Xinda, meaning the king of eternal life. This is one of the most beautiful places in Uzbekistan, Samarkand, and it is hard to associate people with the grave.
