[Gunma] The only place in Japan! Authentic Swiss-style breakfast🇨🇭
This shop was very popular when it was located in Kitakaruizawa.
It has since relocated and reopened in Gunma Tsumagoi, 10 minutes from Kusatsu Onsen.
It is a Swiss cafe run by a Swiss husband and his Japanese wife.
I always order the "Original Swiss" ☞ A slightly luxurious set for a Swiss family's special weekend.
The bread is also homemade and incredibly delicious.
Once you go, you'll be hooked.
It's closed in the winter and last year, when the owner returned to Switzerland, so it's been a long-awaited reopening💛
They also sell cute Swiss goods, and the wait time for the food is fun🥰
It's a little far from Karuizawa, but it's worth the trip

We basically travel by car, and we're a crazy couple who don't mind driving for 7 hours.
Of course I want to highlight famous places, but also lesser known places💡

"Onoshide Garden": Gunma Prefecture's unique rock attraction, a unique tourist experience
"Onoshide-no-en" sounds like a rather scary tourist spot. It is located in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. The name comes from the volcanic magma that erupted from "Mt. Asama" in 1783, which solidified and formed a large amount of lava rocks with strange shapes.
Strolling along the way to see the amazing rocks and the vast scenery is another unique travel experience!
#uniqueexperience #Gunma #Onoshide-no-en
On a Golden Week touring trip, I visited "Onioshidashi Park" 👹🏍️
Located at the foot of Mt. Asama, one of Japan's most famous active volcanoes, located on the border between Nagano and Gunma prefectures, this place is counted among the "Three Great Scenic Spots in the World." It was a breathtaking sight that left me speechless, as I felt like I had wandered into another world 😳✨
The overwhelming scenery created by the strange rocks formed when the lava that flowed from the great eruption of Mt. Asama cooled and solidified in 1783...
The entrance gate was like the gate to hell...🔥
In the center of the strange rocks stands the "Mt. Asama Kannon Hall," which combined with Mt. Asama in the background created a magnificent view 📸
Going further in, you can see the "Flame Kannon" wrapped in crimson flames, which is a sobering sight!
The distinctive name Onioshidashi Park is said to have been derived from the legend that demons live on Mount Asama since ancient times, and it was named so because when Mount Asama erupted, it looked like a demon was pushing out a rock. 🌋
The weather was good on the day, and we were able to fully experience the great nature of Mount Asama Northern Foothills Geopark 👍
The scenery changes with the seasons, making this a must-see spot! *You can see various interesting rocks such as Gorilla Rock and alpine plants unique to high altitudes such as luminous moss 👀✨

Onioshi Highway where you can enjoy the spectacular Mount Asama
Onioshidashi Highway is recommended when heading to Karuizawa from Tsumagoi Village. Many people also use the Manza Highway when heading to Manza Onsen.
You can enjoy the impressive view of the majestic Mt. Asama right before your eyes.
Mt. Asama is so close that you can clearly see the summit from the straight road. It's amazing to be able to see scenery that you can't see unless you go hiking from a car!
At Onioshidashi Garden, you can enjoy the natural art created by lava from the eruption of Mt. Asama that occurred during the Edo period.
You can see a little bit of the lava at the entrance from the Onioshidashi Highway.
If you visit in the fall, you can enjoy the spectacular tunnel of autumn leaves.
This is a recommended spot where you can feel the great nature of Joshinetsu National Park.

[Gunma Manza Onsen] Introducing the large public bath at Manzatei ♨️
Manzatei's large public bath has two baths, an indoor bath and an open-air bath.
On sunny days, you can enjoy the hot springs while watching the beautiful moon and stars from the open-air bath. 🫠
Since the number of rooms is small, I was almost always alone in the large public bath whenever I went!!!
I personally like the fact that it's easy to have the large public bath all to yourself. 🥹

[Manza Onsen, Gunma] A private hot spring that is only accessible to guests staying at Manzatei ♨️
Manzatei has a private bath that you can use for 45 minutes for 2,200 yen!!!
There is also a lodging plan that includes one free private bath, and I took this plan🙋♀️
The capacity is 3 people, but it is spacious enough for 2 people. I went there at night, so the light blue water is hard to see in the photo, but it is a beautiful light blue water!!!
The large public bath is nice, but I also recommend relaxing in the private bath🫠

[Manza Onsen, Gunma] Take a dip in the milky white spring water♨️
I went to Manzatei, a hot spring inn in Manza Onsen!!!
I think Kusatsu Onsen is famous when it comes to Gunma!!! Personally, I prefer the cloudy water at Manza Onsen😇
I feel like Manza Onsen has a stronger sulfur smell, and
I recommend it because you can relax in the hot water🫠
✔️Recommended points
⚫︎You can bathe in the cloudy light blue water all day except from 2 to 4 am♨️
⚫︎Dinner and breakfast are delicious, and very filling!
(Two people staying at the hotel were able to eat in private or semi-private rooms! There may be exceptions👀, but if there were a lot of people, it didn't seem like a private room, but it still maintained a feeling of not being bothered by other people)
⚫︎There are extension cords and wifi (it connects pretty quickly), so it's good for work trips.
I couldn't think of anything to be careful about, so I won't mention it here!!!

Manza Hotel Juraku
#trip2023
Manza Onsen in Gunma Prefecture, an inn at an altitude of 1,800m with an unforgettable starry sky. Popular for its highly concentrated milky sulfur springs, one of the best in Japan, and a buffet with an abundance of local ingredients.
Manza Onsen is a high mountain hot spring resort 1,800m above sea level. As the inner sanctum of Karuizawa, many people have been visiting for hot spring therapy since ancient times. There are a total of 27 types of spring water that spring up in the midst of nature.

Massage chair, Nishikawa air mattress, and pillows are available in the twin room at Manza Hotel Juraku
Hotel Juraku in Manza Onsen has many rooms themed around a relaxing time surrounded by nature, and many rooms with massage chairs.
This time I stayed in a Nishikawa Air Mattress Twin with Massage Chair. The room has a warm wooden feel that is reminiscent of a log house.
This room has a corner on the floor where you can drink coffee, tea, and other teas for free.
There is also a bathroom in the room. I really liked that the toilet paper was Nepia premium.
Although it is a modern hotel, there is still an atmosphere of a traditional hot spring inn, such as tea and snacks in the rooms, which is comforting.

Homemade rice balls in the morning 🍙 and a buffet packed with delicious foods from Gunma Prefecture at Juraku in the evening
Hotel Juraku is located in Manza Onsen, Tsumagoi Village, Gunma Prefecture.
This hotel is famous for its delicious food in Manza Onsen.
Both breakfast and dinner are served in a buffet style.
There is also a live kitchen, and in the morning, they serve onigiri🍙 made on the spot, and in the evening, they serve roast beef.
You can choose from salmon, plum, or kelp for the onigiri. Onigiri service that seems like it exists but doesn't. It's rare to have onigiri made and eat it on the spot, isn't it? It's a warm buffet that will make you nostalgic and remind you of your childhood.
There is a lot of konjac and vegetables from Gunma Prefecture for breakfast and dinner!
The fresh, crunchy, and sweet cabbage with plenty of moisture is unique to Tsumagoi.
They also serve detox water made with luxurious vegetables and fruits.
This is a recommended hotel where you can thoroughly refresh your mind and body.

Manza Hotel Juraku
My personal favorite accommodation in Manza Onsen is Manza no Juraku. It's great value for money and very comfortable. The size of the hot spring is not that great, but...
- Welcome coffee drink
- The glass-walled front desk has a nice view
- Delicious buffet style breakfast and dinner
- Some rooms come with massage chairs
It's quite a satisfying experience. The buffet is especially delicious, so it's worth eating.

Gunma・Momiji's Beloved Wife's Bell
This bell of beloved wife is located on the Manza Highway in Gunma Prefecture. It is an atmospheric area that makes the most of the name of Tsumagoi Village and has made beloved wives the tourist theme, so it makes sense that something like this exists. It was the season when the autumn leaves were just starting to come down from the mountains, so we enjoyed the beautiful contrast of the autumn leaves.

[Gunma] Manza Prince Hotel Accommodation Review
We stayed at the Manza Prince Hotel in the Manza Onsen area of Gunma Prefecture.
In this post, we will introduce Manza Onsen, which is a must-see for hot spring lovers, with its "highest sulfur content in Japan," "spectacular open-air baths," "one of Japan's leading alpine hot springs," and "more than 27 types of spring water," as well as the Prince Hotel where we stayed.
Manza Prince Hotel is a hotel in the Manza Onsen area of Agatsuma County, Gunma Prefecture.
Manza Onsen is located at an altitude of 1,800m and is known as the highest hot spring in Japan that can be reached by car all year round, and is sometimes called the "hot spring closest to the stars."
To Manza Prince Hotel by car
We drove from Shizuoka to Manza Prince Hotel.
There are two main routes to Manza Onsen from Shizuoka and the Kanto region: one is via the free road (Asama-Shirane-Shiga Sawayaka Kaido) from the Kusatsu Onsen side (east side), and the other is via the toll road called the Manza Highway from the Karuizawa side (south side).
We took the route on the Kusatsu Onsen side on the way there, and the Karuizawa side on the way back.
The Manza Prince Hotel building itself was old, but the rooms and front desk were well-cleaned and we had a pleasant stay.
◆Manza Prince Hotel East Wing Twin Room ◆
This time we stayed in the "East Wing Twin Room".
At 19.2 m2, it is the most compact room at Manza Prince Hotel.
The East Wing is close to the large public bath and seems to be popular with hot spring lovers.
You can use the building in yukata and slippers.
When using the shared open-air bath (mixed bathing) in the large public bath, you must wear a towel or bathing suit.
There were mini bath towels in the room for men that could be soaked in the hot spring, but large bath towels for women had to be rented at the front desk.
Bathing suits were sold at the shop for both men and women.
◆Buffet-style dinner and breakfast at the cafeteria "Shakunage" ◆
During this stay, we had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
We went to the cafeteria "Shakunage."

Emerald Snow Viewing Hot Springs
The quality of the springs varies depending on the inn at Manza Onsen, but you should definitely try the daytime open-air bath at Hotel Juraku, which is famous for having the strongest sulfur spring in Japan! The emerald color is especially beautiful in winter.
Every morning during cleaning time, there is a 15-minute photo time.
On sunny days, you can enjoy a spectacular view, and on snowy days, a fantastic atmosphere.
I happened to be staying for two nights and was able to take photos both in the sun and in the snow.

Manza offers fun skiing and hot springs!
Tsumagoi Village is located deep in the mountains of Gunma Prefecture.
The powder snow at Manza Onsen is a popular spot for skiers⛷.
Right after the ski resort season opens, the powder snow with its large, smooth ice particles is the best!

Tsumagoi Village is a place where you can enjoy the finest, smooth powder snow.
It is a ski mecca where many people visit for winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding.
If you go in December, you will need studless tires!
You can see the asphalt on the road, but the entire area is almost completely covered in snow.
It can snow so much overnight that it buries your car, so be prepared if you are going by car.

Manza Onsen is in the busiest season of the year, during the ski season.
It is a popular hot spring resort that is a mecca for skiing.
Snow starts to pile up as early as late November. Winter is the busiest season, and many inns are fully booked.
There are no restaurants or convenience stores, so you have to eat at the hotel. Juraku is the best value for money, with excellent prices and taste.
Buffets are available for breakfast and dinner, and everything is delicious.
