Wow, friends, I just returned from an impromptu trip, and this time the destination was the Huazhu·Shanshui Leju Homestay at the foot of Mount Hua. The owner is incredibly hospitable. We got up at 5 a.m. to prepare for the climb, and the owner, despite being sleepy, sent us to the hiking trailhead. It was so considerate! All the tickets, including the cable car tickets, can be arranged here, which is really convenient. In the morning, open the curtains, and you see green mountains, clear waters, white clouds, and blue skies. The beautiful scenery is like a fairyland. The oil here is very fragrant, and actually, you could have a bowl of duck slice soup here too, but since we had already tried it, we didn't order it again. We packed two portions to take back as gifts. 📍 Yuedu Scenic Area It's not very famous, and I wouldn't have known about this place if it weren't for a local recommendation, but once here, you realize its charm. The name "Yuedu" comes from "Five Mountains and Four Rivers." "Yue" refers to famous mountains, and "Du" to holy waters. In the land of China, this is the only place where one can look up to Mount Hua and overlook the Yellow River, hence the term "Yuedu facing each other" originates from here. Yang Zhen (59 AD - 124 AD), styled Boqi, was from Huayin, Hongnong (now Huayin, Shaanxi Province) during the Eastern Han Dynasty. He was born into a family of officials. His father, Yang Bao, was well-versed in the Ouyang Shangshu and was a master of his generation. He was studious since childhood, learned the Ouyang Shangshu, read widely, and was praised as the 'Confucius of Guanxi'. He served as the Inspector of Jingzhou, the Governor of Zhuo County, the Minister of Works, and the Grand Commandant. The wet nurse of Emperor An and the eunuch Fan Feng were extravagant and arrogant. He repeatedly remonstrated with them, but Fan Feng slandered him and he was dismissed from office and committed suicide. Yang Zhen was particularly intelligent and studious since he was a young boy. At that time, the study of the Classics in the present text was the orthodox position in officialdom and was very popular. In order to understand the profound meaning of the study of the Classics in the present text, he studied under Huan Yu and delved deeply into the Ouyang Shangshu. Huan Yu was one of the nine ministers of the court, the Grand Master of Ceremonies, in charge of ancestral temple rituals and the selection and examination of doctors.
