The oasis of the Chott el Djerid desert in Tunisia, a phoenix chanting vitality!
🚙On our trip to Tunisia, our car headed south to Tozeur, stopping at the oasis of the Chott el Djerid desert. This oasis in the Atlas Mountains valley on the border of western Tunisia and Algeria is a burst of life in a yellow desert. It's like a phoenix chanting vitality, singing poems of the past and present with a spring.
📍The Chott el Djerid oasis is a rare sight in the desert Gobi, a miracle in the red and yellow mountains like Mars. The survival of the fittest has to marvel at the miracle of life, this 'Peach Blossom Spring'. In addition, there was originally a village on the hill next to the Chott el Djerid oasis. In 1969, a rare heavy rain hit the area, and the original small village was completely destroyed in the rain. The ruins of the village still stand on the ridge.
📑A little knowledge. The tree that looks like a coconut tree in the picture is the 'date palm', an economic crop that Tunisia is proud of. This palm-like plant has a particularly developed root system, absorbs the water and nutrients for growth from the ground, and coupled with the long sunshine in Tunisia, its taste is soft and sweet. It is a must-buy souvenir when you come to Tunisia. The local chefs all love it unabashedly, and every dish will have it. I personally love it very much. The key point is that it is very cheap. You can buy two kilograms for 5-10 dinars in local currency, which is equivalent to 10-20 yuan in RMB!
