I stayed at the Citybox hotel in Tallinn for one night. Although the stay was short, the hotel provided a very satisfying accommodation experience. However, there are not many restaurants nearby. First of all, its self-check-in system is very convenient, eliminating the need to queue or wait, which saves a lot of time. Although the room space is relatively small, the facilities are very complete. The bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is clean, making it suitable for both work and rest. The hotel's location is also great. You can easily walk to Tallinn's Old Town, and there are many restaurants and attractions nearby, allowing us to fully explore this beautiful city within a limited time. The hotel's cleanliness and modern design also made us feel very relaxed. Location: Tallin, capital city of Estonia. Getting there: Take a flight from most major European cities to Tallin. Or, you can take the 2 hour ferry from Helsinki and be in the hear of Tallin. This was my option. Tallin is a small but breathtaking European city. You don't need public transport here, you can walk from one place to another quite easily. #christmas #winterwonderland Voted as the best Christmas market in Europe for more than a year, we decided we shouldn’t miss Tallin’s Old Town Christmas market, especially when the country of Estonia was just a stone’s throwaway from Finland, separated by merely a gulf in the Baltic Sea. Since there was almost an entire day to spare before our return night flight to Singapore, we booked ourselves seats for a two-hour morning ferry ride to the capital of Estonia 🇪🇪 Upon reaching the Old Town, it seemed as if a fairytale had come alive. The town hall square was fully adorned with Christmas decorations and lights, with local merchants selling Estonian Christmas cuisine, from black pudding and sour cabbage to gingerbread and hot Christmas drinks, as well as little handicrafts. Fresh snow was also falling steadily from the sky, adding some white to the star of the market - the most important Christmas tree in Estonia that has been set up in the town hall square since 1441 😍😍😍 We spent a good one hour basking in the festive cheer and spirit. Sacrificing shopping time in Helsinki for this additional trip was truly worthwhile. After all, it’s not every day one gets to cross international borders this easily to visit a traditional Christmas market!

Estonia is a country with rich history. During my time there, I signed up for a tour where a guide brought us to various landmarks in Estonia and shared with us the historical significance of each spot. This place is called Danish King's Garden as King Valdemar II of Denmark and his army camped here before conquering Toompea in 1219. It is also the place where the Danish flag originated. Legend has it that Valdemar's troops were losing the battle against the Estonians when the skies opened to reveal a red flag with a white cross from heaven. Tallinn is the capital of Estonia and is an hour's ferry ride or 30 mins by plane away from Helsinki. Its main tourist attractions are all located in the heart of the Old Town which consists of lovely colorful historic buildings. There's even a medieval feel to the city that is further emphasized with the many restaurants serving medieval themed foods. As in other Old Towns in Europe, you'll be greeted with cute city squares that always seem have some event going on. Heading over to the hilltop, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views over the city and surrounding sea. It really makes for lovely pictures. Overall, the small city is a great place to spend a few days without denting your wallet. The city is affordable and outside the mostly restored Old Town you'll find a less gentrified and more rustic version of Tallinn which is also quite an interesting contrast. Head over to Tallinn and you'll leave being charmed by this little city!
