Famous spots for autumn leaves in Ibaraki
From Kotakizawa Campsite along the valley, the view near Shiomitaki Suspension Bridge is spectacular
Shiomitaki Suspension Bridge is about 60m long
The branches of the trees growing along the river jut out from both sides
to form a gorgeous green tunnel.
I was soothed by the murmuring of the Hananuki River and the green maples shining in the sunlight.
The parking lot isn't very large, so I think it will be very crowded during the autumn foliage season.

Hananuki Valley, Ibaraki
#cherryblossom25
Hananuki Valley is a total hidden gem. It’s not one of those polished parks — it’s wild, raw, and ridiculously scenic. Picture this: a suspension bridge dangling over a lush river gorge, with cherry trees blooming along the banks and mist rising between the cliffs. I went early in the morning, and there were only a few hikers around. The trail is peaceful, with little wooden footbridges and moss-covered rocks lining the way. I took one of my favorite #cherryblossom25 photos from the red bridge — pink petals, deep green forest, and that foggy mountain air that just hits different. It’s great for solo travelers or couples looking to slow down and breathe. Bring hiking shoes and snacks, and get ready for a sakura experience that feels untouched.

The foliage at Hananuki Gorge
#fallishere
Autumn is always an exciting season with those burning red and orange foliages everywhere. At Ibaraki, there is this valley called Hananuki Gorge which is located deep in the forest at Takahagi area of Ibaraki prefecture. During autumn the valley will be filled with the colourful maple foliages. From the meeting point you can walk along the alley, with beautiful foliages along the pine trees, leading you to the main spot of pictureque site: the hanging bridge of the gorge, where many people will take a picture there. The entire place is very scenic, well guided so that you wont get lost anywhere, and the autumn vibes is just awesome as you wont expect too many tourista unlike some very famous spot.
Direction: Take the Hitachi/Tokiwa limited express from Shinagawa/Tokyo station and alight at Takahagi station. There is a shuttle bus ferrying tourists from the station to the Gorge.
