Top food recommendations in Jiaoxi🏆: 1️⃣ Zheng Hao Fresh Pork Xiao Long Bao (not the regular fresh pork xiao long bao❗) A basket of 10 juicy xiao long bao costs NT$100 Hot and Sour Soup costs NT$35 Black Tea, Milk Tea, and Soy Milk are all NT$20 (you can get them from the refrigerator after ordering and paying) There's absolutely nothing to complain about here! It's a complete winner🏆 The hot and sour soup is even better than Ba ​​Fang Yun Ji🤣 and it's not the small bowl kind; the soup in the xiao long bao is also super delicious (see cover for details). The shop's specialty is xiao long bao: thin skin, lots of filling, and lots of juice. Locals in Yilan say it's worth eating because the xiao long bao has a scallion flavor. On a hot day, a cup of black tea/milk tea or soy milk is perfect. Personally, I think the milk tea is a little sweet, but within an acceptable range, not overly sweet. The signature dish is, of course, the xiao long bao! We checked out the place twice, because the first time we arrived at 5 PM, the shop told us they were sold out of hot and sour soup 😭 The second time, when we arrived around noon, there was already a queue! Despite its understated exterior, the interior has only about 20 seats, offering a very chill vibe. 🎀 This time, I tried the most basic $580 set menu. The ingredients were incredibly fresh! The seafood portions were generous, including scallops, shrimp, sashimi, salmon fillet, and more. The freshness and taste were unbeatable. Each dish paired perfectly with the ingredients, with seasoning that wasn't overpowering but highlighted the natural flavors of the food. The value for money is truly impressive! It's rare to find such sincere omakase at this price point—definitely worth it! 🎉 The only slight downside was the dessert—sweetened red beans. If you're looking to experience the most "local flavor of Beitou" in a public hot spring, Takino-yu Bathhouse is a must-visit. With over a century of history, this is the oldest public hot spring bath in Beitou. It has recently undergone renovations, making the environment much cleaner and tidier than before. This is a traditional public nude bath, and the price is incredibly affordable at just 150 TWD! However, note that you need to bring your own towel, body wash, and drinking water. The facilities are relatively old, and the space is not large, so it’s quite different from modern luxury hot springs. If you're used to high-end bathhouses, you might find it a bit hard to adjust. But for travelers who love experiencing authentic local culture, this place is truly unique. The spring water is sulfuric (green sulfur), and the quality is excellent.
