Stirling is less than an hour by train from Edinburgh which makes it a perfect city for day trip. The main attraction in Stirling is indeed Stirling Castle- built in the 13th century, and is one of the grandest castle in Scotland. From the train station, it will take about 15 min to walk uphill to reach the castle. The castle was strategically built on top of a large rock which allowed for excellent view during the many wars through the centuries.
