While both Dubrovnik and Split are victims of overpricing. There is still some hope in the case of Split. As it is less crowded compared to Dubrovnik and offers a scope for a more authentic croatian experience. Split can also score more points on the affordability scale (only when compared to Dubrovnik). The rest of croatia continues to be decently priced.
As far as sightseeing goes. Just about everything you want to see in Split is within the walls of Roman emperor Diocletian's Palace, completed in 305 AD. It's a compact area and you'll easily find your way around the narrow alleys. Make sure you visit St. Domnius Cathedral, it is well over 1,000 years old. You could climb to the top of the bell tower there for a view of the city.
But if you care, I did find a better spot.Walk exactly 10 minutes to the left of the palace and then up some stairs and paths in the neighborhood of Marjan. By the time you reach the tiny St. Nicholas Church (1219), you'll be rewarded with an even better view, most importantly without any tourists and it's free!

Diocletian Palace
#familytrips2024
Our family visit to Diocletian's Palace in Split was an extraordinary blend of history and exploration. The ancient Roman palace, seamlessly integrated into the vibrant heart of the city, offered us a fascinating glimpse into the past. The kids were amazed by the towering stone walls and labyrinthine alleys, while we marveled at the well-preserved ruins and intricate architectural details. Highlights included the Peristyle courtyard, the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, and the underground cellars. We enjoyed gelato from a nearby vendor as we wandered through the bustling market stalls within the palace complex, making for a day filled with discovery and delight.
Next on our list is Japan. We're excited to explore its vibrant cities, serene temples, and picturesque landscapes. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the tranquil gardens of Kyoto, Japan offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity. The kids can't wait to see cherry blossoms, try authentic sushi, and maybe even spot a sumo wrestler. With its rich culture and family-friendly attractions, Japan promises to be an unforgettable destination for our next family adventure.

In Croatia, you can try some local dishes, such as grilled fish and potato stewed beef. Croatian grilled fish is very fresh, after several hours of slow roasting, the fish is tender and juicy, and it is even more delicious with wine. In addition, Croatian potato stewed beef is also very famous. It is made by slow stewing potatoes, beef, spices and red wine. The taste is rich and it is very suitable to be eaten with rice. If you like desserts, you can try Croatian chocolate cake. It is made of rich chocolate, vanilla and cream. The taste is silky and delicate, very delicious.

Maduro Bar - Split
Located on the waterfront, Maduro bar has a range of drinks on offer for some of the most reasonable prices. Cocktail prices here are around €3-4 less than in the Old Town area and it’s just a short walk away.
This bar doesn’t have any food options but it is a good stopping point for a break in your waterfront walk.
Views are perfect, watching boats pull in and out of the marina in the gorgeous sunshine is a highlight for any trip here.
Drink I had - Sex on the Beach €7.30

The Charm of Split Old Town@Dalmatia, Croatia
Split is the second largest city of Croatia after Zagreb where this Old Town is protected under UNESCO World Heritage. Exploring Diocletian’s Palace is a must to do in Split particularly the Cellars(Podrumi) one can find lots of souvenir shops underneath. Continue to stroll around the People’s Square(Pjaca) and the narrow side streets will lead you to many trendy stores, cafes, restaurants and bars; something you won’t wanna missed for sure😁.

Split three day trip
Getting There - Bus: Zadar—-Split
Attractions - Diocletian's Cellars, Saint Domnius Bell Tower, Silver Gate,
Hotels - Spinutska ul. 39
Food & Restaurants - Pumparela Gelateria
It took me approximately 3.5 hours to get to split from Zadar. There are tourists everywhere. apparently it was a hotspot for American tourists lol. can’t imagine if it was summer Split must be mobbed. Suggest you can book the trip for island hopping here.
Gazing across the Adriatic from the Palace..
Diocletian was 39 years old when he became Roman Emperor in A.D. 284. He ruled for two decades until illness forced him to abdicate the throne at the age of 60 and retreat to a spectacular palace on the Dalmatian coast in the modern-day city of Split, Croatia.
this is a perfect combination of history, architecture, beauty and romance. Diocletian’s luxurious quarters included three temples, an impressive mausoleum, and a monumental colonnaded courtyard or peristyle, sections of which have survived more than 1,500 years.

Split in Croacia is your base-point for exploring the best and beautiful islands in the Mediterranean Sea.
Brac Island was the goal to this trip and, definitely, didn’t disappoint. Take a boat in Split then you can walk to Brac or take a little train. The walking to the end of island is fantastic. A promenade through many refreshing trees, birds singing, shopping, restaurants and bars are the reward.
gorgeous walkable city in Croatia
Split has the best of both worlds when it comes to holiday destination. Perfect beaches for relaxed days spent by the sea, huge shopping mall (mall of split) if you want to buy anything and a picturesque old town perfect for lazy afternoon strolls. Game of Throws was filmed in some locations too

Hvar - Off the Beaten Path
Hvar is a well know Croatian Island right off the coast of Split. It has been inhabited for thousands of years, with its old city ‘Stari Grad’ celebrating its 2400 birthday as a town.
🏔Maybe people will flock to the party town of Hvar and sit at the hotels in front of a pool, but if you take the extra effort you could find some magical views. The little abandoned village of Malo Grablje sits on top of the Hvar mountain and has some gorgeous views of the north and south side of the island. I would recommend getting electric bikes if you are a beginner and cycle to the top.
🌿 Hvar is also known as the lavender island with fields planted on the mountains of Hvar. The resemble Thai mountain fields but with lava Dee. some of them are deserted and have turned into forest which makes it even for enchanting.
All in all, you can’t go wrong with a bike ride around the island and especially on the mountain tops. Highly recommend for any nature lovers. 😁😁

Secret Fairytale Village: Vrboska
The island of Hvar in Croatia. Many people have heard of it and most people end up in Stari Grad or Hvar town when visiting the island. But off the beaten path, lies a charming fishing village popular with yachts and off road bikers
🐠 Fresh Food - The sea food restaurants are a must sea. Places like Trica Gardelin, Luka’s Konoba, Mediterranean, Vrboscam, and Bonaca use freshly caught fish caught in the morning. they prepare it in the local style and you can definitely taste the freshness. If you wake up early enough you can also buy fish off the boats yourself.
🚴♂️bike trails and running trails along the coast cut through vineyards for an amazing experience. bike and boat rentals are possible through B&B rentals service company
🏖Soline beach is a must see and very child friendly. For a more romantic getaway try one of the many secluded coves along the coast. Zecevo island is a 20 minute boat ride away, with a restaurant. The water there is crystal clear and not a lot of people know about it. Food and drinks can be ordered.
In Conclusion: Great place to visit for a couple of days as there are many out door activities to check out. Hidden from the crowds of tourists a great place to enjoy nature. Apartments can be rented out or the 4 star ⭐️ Senses Resort.

Hvar, also known as Lavender Island
Hvar is famous for lavender. Many hawkers on the island sell lavender products, such as sachets and essential oils.
Some essential oil bottles have hand painted on them
Generally, tourists will stay here for one night and join the blue cave tour there.
However, the weather was not really good when we arrived Hvar so we didn’t join the tour.
I heard that blue caves are sometimes closed because the water level is too high.
If you plan to visit the blue cave, you are suggested to ask the boat agent earlier.
Also, you can rent a speedboat to visit nearby islands from Hvar.
You can see many of these bakeries (PEKARA) in Croatia,
open 24 hours and the price is reasonable, you can buy their bread for breakfast. It is tasty.
Because Hvar has very famous stone terraces
The whole city fluctuates with the terrain of the hillside, so the whole picture has many layers.
It is recommended that you go to the hillside to see the whole city from top to bottom
The blue sky, the green space, the red ancient city ...
In the evening, the different flavors of Stephana Church
Rather than spending a lot of time on the street, I prefer to run down the alley
I am sure that it will surprise you!

I'm a lover of new travel experiences and this is already one for the books! @upintheairlife is a specialist when it comes to hosting luxury trips and I was lucky enough to get on week 2 of their 4 week charter around the Croatian islands!
⠀⠀⠀
Here's the low down on this trip:
I'm here with 30 other like-minded, lit dope ass people who look just like me! I'm talking about engineers to diplomats to entrepreneurs all wanting to get whisked away to the sights and sounds of the Adriatic sea. We have luxury cabins, 4 course meals, swim stops to use our floaties and we dock at a new island every day to enjoy what it has to offer. If you feel like being lazy, you can sleep away to the slow rock of the seas. Or, you can become a bit more cultured and do island tours, ride dune buggies and jetskis, go wine tasting and experience the epic nightlife that Croatia is known for. Make sure to follow my stories to get the behind the scenes visuals!

[Traveling around Eastern Europe] Split
Staying overnight in the small island of Kokhola, the hometown of Marco Polo, along the idyllic Adriatic coast, through the Ston wall, which resembles the Great Wall and Europe's second longest, has a long history. The ancient city of Split. The
Split Old Town building has a distinct Roman style, as it was once the residence of a Roman emperor. At the beginning of the fourth century AD, the Roman Emperor Diocletian, who pioneered the reunification of the four emperors, retired from the pastoral area and concentrated on planting cabbage. The Diocletian's Palace in which he lived became the basis of the future city of Split. Diocletian has been retiring in the palace, even if everyone asks him to re-enter the emperor, he will not be moved until he finally died here.
With the travels around the country, I gradually learned about several Roman emperors with unique personality, in addition to Caesar and his successor Octavian who are closely related to Egypt, and many footprints in Turkey. Hadrian, the gay emperor, today met the Diocletian who took the initiative to abdicate to grow vegetables.

Split Old Town.
Split Old Town is located in Croatia, near the bay of the Dalmatian coastline. It is the second largest city in Croatia and a historic city. The old town was originally built in the 3rd century AD and historically served as a center of administration and religion. It developed from the palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian, the only Roman imperial palace ruins in Europe outside of Italy. The architectural style is a fusion of Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, and other styles. Diocletian's Palace, as a landmark building, showcases the splendor of the Roman Empire. Its ruins can be seen throughout the city, forming a scenic area with other ancient buildings.
