Visit the salt lake in Siwa, an Egyptian oasis town

Salt Lake in Siwa, an oasis town in Egypt💙
When you think of Egypt, everyone thinks of the pyramids, the Sphinx, Abu Simbel, and mummies, but the place I highly recommend after traveling around Egypt for 8 months is the salt lake in Siwa! ❤️
Even people who can't swim can leisurely float around! I tried to sink, but it never sinks because of the salt 😆
Something to watch out for is that if you have a wound, it's better not to do it
and you should never touch your face with the water
When you arrive at Siwa, you have to bargain
but 200 pounds was a reasonable price after agreeing with the tuk-tuk drivers
200 pounds (about 5,600 won)
▪️Included
Cleopatra Hot Springs + Salt Lake + Crescent Hot Springs
The 9th and 10th pictures are Cleopatra Hot Springs and Crescent Hot Springs

Camping in Siwa Oasis
I made the 10 hour drive (with a private driver) from Cairo to Siwa Oasis and discovered a land of pure bliss!
Siwa is in the western desert of Egypt and it feels like a completely different place. It has its own people (Berber-speaking Sudanic people) and they live in these really interesting mud houses.
There are a few sights to see in Siwa like the Cleopatra Spring, Fatnas Island (best sunset), Salt lakes (such a cool experience), Oracle Temple, Shali Fortress and many more.
I spent some time with a local guide who told me all about the history and local culture and I enjoyed my relaxed evenings at the boho campsite where you can choose air conditioned cottages or the simple fanned hotels. My camp provided breakfast and dinner which were always delicious and even though I was on my own, I never felt lonely.
There are different types of hotels and camp sites all around Siwa and they offer a calm and peaceful environment. There are also plenty of souvenir stores ones you enter the town side near the fortress and a few local restaurants.

Paradise of Egypt, Siwa Oasis
We stayed in a hotel called Siwa Relax Retreat. It was an Eco Lodge with no electricity in the rooms, just candles. You could charge your phones in the main reception area. The main attraction here is the salt lake in which the rooms are very close to. The rooms have salt rocks on the floor, so you need something on your feet when you get out of bed. The air here is so clean, and sleeping surrounded by salt rocks is very beneficial to your health. #awesomepic
Egypt’s best desert destination
Siwa is an Oasis city in Egypt that’s built around many underwater springs. There so much to do here from picnics in the desert, historical sights, cultural sights, hot spring spas, salt water lakes (where you can float so easily), salt caves, and Cleopatra’s pool that’s 26ft deep. You will have a blast here. I spent 3 days here and wish I could stay an extra day. Be mindful that the flies here are a persistent breed and lots of mosquitos, so bring long sleeves and pants. Be sure to check out the old fort and the mountain of the dead. They also have olive jam, which is very interesting to try. #Siwaoasis #siwa #egypt #Eqyptexperiences #Egyptcampingtrips #cairo
Siwa Salt Lake | The deepest part of the mysterious oasis in Egypt.
When you go to Siwa in the Sahara, remember to go to the water. Because Siwa is below sea level, its water resources are relatively abundant. According to statistics, there are more than 2,000 springs in Siwa, which is a real desert oasis.
Siwa Lake surrounds the town. It is covered with coconut groves on the inside and is close to the golden desert on the outside. In the coconut grove, there are some small hotels and bars. Every dusk, tourists always like to go to the lake, order a glass of juice, sit quietly under the tree, watch the sunset falling in the desert, and dye the lake and the horizon red.
About 20 kilometers outside Siwa City, there are several salt lakes of different sizes. Compared with the Dead Sea, the water of the salt lake is more clear and the salinity is higher. Therefore, all tourists who come to Siwa will not forget to check in at the salt lake. Lying quietly on the water and looking up at the blue sky may be their most unforgettable feeling in this life.
-
It is said to be the easiest place in the world to lie flat
Coming to the must-visit salt lake in Xiva, it was scheduled for the next morning. Departing from the hotel, it takes about 20 minutes to reach the salt lake here, and there are dozens of them, large and small. You can pick one that looks more pleasing to the eye, and then find one that is easy to get into the water, and then you can have a close encounter.
It is recommended to bring your own swimsuit and slippers or crocs to prevent your feet from being cut by the rocks. Usually, fresh water is also prepared so that you can quickly rinse off with clean water after swimming.
Personally, I feel that if you can swim, the fear when going down will be slightly less, and then I accidentally tasted the water of the salt lake, it's really salty!
The scenic area is open for free, you only need to pay for the round-trip car fare, which is generally 600 for a chartered car per day, just for reference.
In the Egyptian desert oasis, fall into the scene of Assassin's Creed in a second!
In Siwa, this Egyptian oasis city, there is an ancient castle that is surprisingly open for free. Walking here is just like coming to the scene of Assassin's Creed, making one feel as if they have entered a maze.
You can watch a sunset here, which is breathtakingly beautiful.
Siwa oasis in western Egypt is one of the most beautiful trips I have ever had.
the nature there is phenomenal, and you can see one of the most beautiful sun rise and sunset in your life. Also, Siwa is famous for natural plants used for medical purposes.

The aftereffects of leaving Siwa Oasis on the second day are even stronger than a heartbreak
Siwa Oasis in Egypt, a small town rooted in the desert,
where the economy is underdeveloped, transportation is inconvenient🚙, and tourists are scarce.
Yet, because of its simple customs✨, touching prices, and unique scenery,
it has become my favorite place in this trip to Egypt❤.
Nurtured by the desert are temples, salt lakes🌊, hot springs, and other wonders,
Sandboarding, diving, watching the sunset, unlocking various life experiences,
The aroma of roasted Kebab is overwhelming🍖, with dates sweeter than honey,
For just 50 per person, you can rent a tuk-tuk for a whole day✌, it's really worth it!
📅Recommended visiting time: at least 2 days
Siwa Oasis is suitable for relaxation and worth exploring, so it's advised to stay longer. If you're on a tight schedule, this quick tour itinerary is for you:
👉Day 1: Arrive at Siwa by bus at 10:00, start a car tour at 11:00 (many people at the station are looking for passengers).
🗺Oracle Temple (overlooking Siwa)→Temple of Amun→Salt Lakes→Camp Hot Spring→Sunset at Shali Fortress
👉Day 2: Start a car tour at 9:00, and take the bus back to Cairo at 19:30.
🗺Mountain of the Dead→Enter the Sahara Desert→Mummy Sites→Beside the Bedouin River→2 million-year-old human footprint sites→Cleopatra Spring
🌟Oracle Temple (Oracle Temple)
The architecture is relatively well-preserved, and you can overlook Siwa from the hillside, capturing the coconut groves and salt lakes in one frame, which is really amazing. Next to it is the Temple of Amun, with beautiful patterns on the stele, worth a short stay.
🌟Salt Lakes (Salt Lakes)
Salt lakes of various sizes and colors, formed by mining. With a salinity of over 90%, even non-swimmers can enjoy the fun of floating, which is thrilling for me, a non-swimmer. Remember to bring swim trunks, a towel, and fresh water for rinsing. The edges of the salt lakes are sharp, so be careful not to get cut.
🌟Camp Hot Spring (hot spring)
Taking a warm natural hot spring bath after coming out of the salt lake is simply delightful. The pool bottom has algae, and the water quality is average, with an entrance fee of 100 Egyptian pounds per person, and you can play for about 1 hour.
🌟Shali Fortress (Shali Fortress)
This is a filming location for 'Assassin's Creed' and also resembles a maze. Watching the sunset from a high point and the rise of the evening glow is very romantic. It's recommended to check the sunset time in advance and plan the day's itinerary accordingly.
🌟Mountain of the Dead (Gabal al-Mawta)
A Pharaoh's temple from 1600 years ago, with no tourists when I arrived at 9:30 in the morning, perfect for photography.
🌟Sahara Desert (Sahara Desert)
Due to limited time, I couldn't watch the desert sunset and stars this time. The car tour guide took us to see some off-the-beaten-path places. In a crevice of a small mountain near the Libyan border, you can see scattered mummies, some of which have been damaged. Near the site of early human footprints, we also saw a wild hare. I was so excited that I shouted out loud and didn't manage to take a photo.
🌟Cleopatra Spring (Cleopatra Spring)
For diving in China, you watch Tianjin, but for diving in Egypt, you watch Siwa. Many people come here every day to dive in various styles, with a depth of about 4 meters, so non-swimmers should not try. The juice shop next door is famous, and you can go up to the second floor to quietly watch the free performance.
【Egypt·Siwa】Lonely and forgotten by the world
Egypt·Siwa
Transportation: The transportation is extremely inconvenient, without planes or trains. The only options are buses and chartered cars. It is about 10 hours drive from Cairo, and you can usually stay overnight in Matruh (about half the journey).
Food: Traditional Egyptian meals, roast chicken meals are the most appetizing. Most restaurants in Siwa serve very slowly, it's best to confirm before ordering, otherwise it might take an hour or more. The few restaurants in the center are quite distinctive, but the prices are really not cheap.
Accommodation: There are not many hotels, basically they are all homestays. The price is okay, after all, the conditions are really average.
Travel: The attractions in Siwa are not far away. Except for Sahara sand sliding, other tutu cars are enough, the price is affordable and you can also experience the local customs.
Play:
Cleopatra Spring.
It is said that Cleopatra VII of Egypt bathed in the desert hot spring, and you can go into the water. There are very distinctive coffee shops around, you can try.
Siwa Amun Temple Oracle temple.
It is said that after Alexander the Great conquered ancient Egypt, he specifically came here to receive the oracle of Amun and was crowned king. Although it is now in ruins, the mysterious historical mark still exists.
Mountain of death.
The cemetery of some nobles in the ancient Egyptian dynasty, there are many large and small holes, it is said that it was discovered during World War II to avoid pursuers. Climbing up the mountain can overlook the whole Siwa.
Shali fortress.
The 13th-century castle, this mud brick and salt block high-rise building was damaged in a rainstorm in 1926, and the remaining ruins are like a lost city. Sunrise or sunset, absolutely beautiful.
Siwa Salt Lake.
Siwa Salt Lake is in large areas, with countless salt mountains. It's a bit different from what I imagined, the lake is too big and too many. The salt content is as high as 90%, it is not too much to call it a small Dead Sea. Pay attention to fresh water rinsing and sun protection.
Sahara Jeep safari.
The shape of the Sahara here is very suitable for sand sliding, exciting and fun. The natural hot spring in the middle is a rest point, I personally think it's not very interesting. The sunset in the desert is always desolate and magnificent, have a cup of Berber tea, enjoy the tranquility under the sunset. You can also choose a desert dinner, blending into the starry sky of the Sahara.
Fatnas Island Sunset.
A special lakeside sunset viewing spot, there are several coffee shops, there are seats on the high platform and by the lake. Enjoy the tranquility of the lake when the sunset falls quietly.
Walking through the date palm forest of Siwa oasis, here is like a small town forgotten by the world, lonely and quiet. Or this is the place flowing with milk and honey in the desert, the promised land.
Egypt’s best kept secret: Siwa’s salt lakes
One of my favorite spots in Egypt!
Siwa is situated 50 kms. away from the border of Libya and is one of the most isolated places in Egypt; 10 hours away from Cairo by car/bus. Siwa´s salt lakes are not an easy spot to access but are definitely worth the hassle.
The views are out of this world and the scenery is so unique that you won’t regret the time spent to get there.

Siwa Oasis, Egypt, salt desert, salt lake
Taking the bus from Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh and then to Siwa Oasis takes a long time, but it is definitely worth it. Have you ever been swimming in a salt lake? I can tell you it is amazing. It is like floating on the surface without moving. Watching the sunrise on the mountain top is an experience I definitely recommend

Attractions:
Siwa Oasis is one of the most mysterious of all Egypt’s oases. Siwa Oasis offers variety of things to do, places to visit, and unique attractions.
The Shali
Shali is now a tourist attraction, where visitors climb up the melted mound of mud and salt that is the traditional Siwan construction material so they can get a glimpse of the view of dates and olives groves that stretches out for miles in each direction of the Siwa Oasis.
1- Cleopatra’s Spring
Also known as Cleopatra’s Bath or Cleopatra’s pool, on the way to the Oracle temple, Cleopatra’s Spring is a natural spring water stone pool where locals and tourists enjoy the benefits of a spring bath among the town of Siwa. Even though there are no studies that back up the correlation to this pool to Queen Cleopatra VIII herself, the beauty of the site at the Cleopatra springs sure does the justice to its mysteriously acclaimed name.
Being one of the best natural pools, many locals in the area bathe and visit the pool frequently, it’s important to remember and respect the local customs and female tourists are advised to wear appropriate swimming attire to avoid unnecessary attention.
2- The Salt Lakes
One of the most beautiful sceneries in Siwa, the Salt Lakes are not to be missed. With waters so clean and transparently green, the Salt Lakes attract people to Siwa all year round, with its health benefit for its high concentration of salt, floating and swimming in the Salt Lakes of Siwa is something you cannot miss.
3- The Temple of the Oracle
In antiquity, Siwa was famous for the Temple of the Oracle that dates from the 6th century BC and was renowned throughout the Mediterranean world. Alexander the Great came here to ask about his fate and whether or not he was really the son of Zeus, as his mother had told him. After consulting the oracle, Alexander requested that his generals bury him in Siwa once he passed. The ruins of the temple of the Oracle are still open to visitors to this day.
4-Mountain of the Dead
Also near the center of Siwa, you can find the Mountain of the Dead, a rocky hill covered in more than 1500 tombs that dates back to the late pharaonic period. Some of the tombs from the Greco-Roman Period are decorated with beautiful and ornate funerary drawings. The tombs are locked and can be open by the local guards with the payment of a tip.
5-Fatnas Island
Another spectacular place is Fatnas Islam for a sunset chill.

I was driving to find the Siwa Salt Lake. I didn't expect to go in the wrong direction for 17 kilometers from the beginning, but fortunately I also harvested the beautiful scenery. Siwa is a wonderful place.
When riding on the road, there are very few cars, fewer people, and the wind is easy to get off when riding. When I came back, I had to head against the wind and had to stop and push the car, but I was still very happy. A local person driving a motorcycle and passing a long distance found that we were not right to return to ask if we needed help.
I saw a white bird with a long leg. I saw a river with different colors on the left and right sides. I started to ride half and found that the ride was in the opposite direction. After stopping, I finished eating Chinese food on the wheat heap. Sing to the wind, facing the stranger hello. I rode for 30 kilometers. I thought it would be sour for the second day without training. I didnt expect to get up this morning without any injury.
There are some mistakes. I know that the end point is wrong or I want to explore it again. The end point is not the result, the process is the harvest.
In the vast Sahara Desert, there is an oasis that breeds the unique people of the desert, that is, Siwa.
Siwa has a long history, full of broken walls, broken low walls after thousands of years of sand erosion, the former grand building has long been ruined, but the Siwa still continue to live between the broken walls With.
Due to the geographical remoteness, Siwa has always been relatively isolated, so the unique culture and customs here have been relatively intact. The Siwa Oasis was originally small in size, and the brakes were the most practical means of transportation. In Siwa, almost every man would drive a brake.
Walk in the lush palm-tree streets, I often see the brakes and cars passing by. Most of the cars are daily necessities, and there are also many car owners. They are driving, and when they are flying fast, crossing the countless years and the haze of fate, maybe it is a lifetime.
The Sakhali hinterland, 700 km from Cairo, is home to a legendary desert oasis, Siwa. Here is the birthplace of the Assassin's Creed story, where Cleopatra was bathed, and the glorious myth of the dilapidated ancient city, all staying here.
Just arrived in Siwa, we did not book accommodation in advance, but as the locals came to the foot of the ancient city of Shali, they found a century-old earth house, the Adrre Amellal, which was converted from the ancient city site.
This is an ecological hotel in the Sahara Desert. Relying on the buildings left by the ancients, the beds and eaves made of palm trees exude a chic scent; the walls made of mud and salt crystals from time to time There will be a little bit of soil ash falling. There is no roof in the living room, and the night is a little starlight in the ancient city. The second floor restaurant does not have a glass window. It is a natural frame made of mud and trunk. No matter which angle you look at, you can see the street side. Lush palm trees.
I asked the boss: Is there a house with no roof and glass windows, are you not afraid of rain? The boss smiled and said: Siwa will only rain a few times a year, every few minutes, but it has stopped before the rain has closed. We also hope that God can have more rain.
In the southern part of the 20 km near Siwa is a white salt lake. The Siwa Salt Lake is composed of large and small salt lakes. The crystal clear salt lake water turns into an emerald color against the white salt. Summer is pink.
It is not easy to get to the salt lake from the town. Without public transportation, we have to call a local tug to take us. The driver is an Egyptian version of Justin Bieber. It was very fierce, bypassing the complete path, brushing through the dense palm trees and taking us to this white emerald salt lake.
Salt Lake is a little far from the town. Except for the nearby residents, there are few people going there. The salt lake has become a green ribbon on the wilderness, no one bothers. In the slightly cool autumn and winter, my brother wanted to try the buoyancy of the salt lake. When the clothes broke off, he jumped into the water, and the water was crystal clear. He was like a strange candy, melting in the green Siwa Salt Lake.
The centre of Siwa is dominated by the spectacular organic shape of the 13th century mud brick fortress. Built of salt blocks, the maze-like hybrid building was originally four or five stories high with hundreds of people living. A small road passes through the collapsed remnants, passes through the old mosque with chimney-shaped minaret, reaches the top, and looks down, you can clearly see the edge of the city and the desert, the scale of the palm trees and the life in the city. state.
Few people have been here for centuries, but the three-day rain in 1926 eroded the castle, and the residents had to move to the new town, leaving Shali Castle.
The whole mountain bag is earthy and covered with ancient tomb holes. It is one of the main tourist attractions of Siwa. Archaeologists have discovered that there are human footprints dating back 3 million years and are the earliest known human footprints in the world. The flints found here prove that they lived in the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods, which made Siwa's early history enveloped in mystery.
There is an oasis in the world's largest Sahara desert. There is a hot spring in the oasis. Once you hear this description of Siwa, you have made up your mind to feel the hot springs in the desert. Here is the birthplace of the story in the Assassin's Creed. It was once the enchanting world of Cleopatra, and the earliest activity of human beings. Here is the Siwa, a desert oasis that only rains a few times a year.
is a legendary hot spring 3 km from the ancient city of Siwa. It has been built with cement by the locals. It is surrounded by a traditional Arabian-style restaurant and coffee shop, green plants and bougainvillea. Growing lush. To take a bath in the hot spring is completely free, the temperature is only about 30 degrees, we tried this natural hot spring for a while, feeling the place where Cleopatra once dunked.
