Cheap delicious salted egg yolk rice!🍚🍗✨
Address: 3 Meals A Day, 1 Rochor Canal Rd, #02-01 Sim Lim Square, Singapore 188504
Ambiance: 3/5
Highlights: Salted egg yolk chicken cutlet rice, fried fish soup.
Avg. Price per Person: $8
Rating: 4/5
I have heard good things about this eatery and decided to give it a try. The food is simply amazing. I tried the salted egg yolk chicken cutlet rice, and also ordered a fried fish soup. Both dishes were very delicious and worth eating. Looking around the eatery you will see that most tables would have ordered the salted egg yolk rice dishes which just tells you how good it is. I am a soup lover, and this fried fish soup is flavourful and hearty, and really hits the spot. I came back a second time soon after and ordered the salted egg yolk pork cutlet rice and another fried fish soup again. The tables are rather close together as the shop is quite popular and always packed during meal times, so you will hear your neighbors conversations. The aircon is average and may not be super cold on warm packed days. But the food and prices are superb and outweigh these factors. They only accept cash and QR payments, not paywave/ credit cards.

Formula 1 Night Race Marina Bay!🏎️🇸🇬🎆
#singapore
Address: Singapore Marina Bay Street Circuit
Ambiance: 5/5
Highlights: F1 Night race, post race concerts, fireworks
Rating: 5/5
One of the crown jewels of the formula 1 races is the Singapore Marina Bay Street Circuit. It is the one and only night race in the whole Formula 1. This is my first time attending the race in person and it is fantastic. Over 260k people showed up for the event which was very well organized with lots of signages and ushers to direct people. It was like a well controlled chaos if that is even possible. The race itself was super exciting with lots of overtaking opportunities and George Russell crashing out on the final lap which definitely caused a few tears. There were great performances by big name artists like post Malone too! And when Ferrari’s Carlos crossed the line, fireworks lit up the city skyline which created a picturesque backdrop for the whole world to see! It is definitely a must visit for any F1 fan to see this race and soak in the atmosphere in person.

I came across this quaint little place while exploring Joo chiat and was intrigued by the shop’s old housing aesthetics. I decided to try it as the recent reviews on google maps were all quite good. And I was not disappointed. I tried their signature cheeky bee hoon soup. The broth was very flavorful and rich, I drank every last drop. I then decided to order a second bowl as I was there with a friend so we shared. Our second bowl was the braised pork cheeky bee hoon dry. The noodles was very springy and had been infused with some delicious broth. The pork was also very tender and melted in my mouth. I also had a pink guava drink which was both refreshing and something I don’t see every day. I love the design on the shop where the shop owners have decorated with antiques from Singapore’s households in the 1980-2000, like the old HDB windows grills, the old sewing machines, old benches, old photos and report cards from schools etc. it was all very well put together to create a sense of nostalgia. The tables are well spaced apart and so you won’t be hearing your bright outs conversations. This shop is really a little hidden gem and I hope it won’t become too crowded the next time I visit. Highly recommended to visit it when you are in Joo Chiat!

Took my folks for a stroll through the now gentrified Duxton-Cantonment Road area and it turned out to be a walk down memory lane for my dad!
From the leftover signage of a martial arts club and what used to be railway tracks at Duxton Plains Park, to what’s left of the old Yan Kit Swimming Complex, we were regaled with stories of his childhood growing up in the Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood. I have walked past these historical landmarks so many times without knowing they held special memories for my dad. Imagine that!

Rating: 4.5/5
I have been buying paus from Nam Kee paus for years as they offer quality is very good, consistent and affordable. And they offer cold paus you can bring home to heat up yourself. Most people don’t realize that Nam Kee Paus also sell Chilli pan Mee which is absolutely delicious! most outlet you cannot dine in but at plaza Singapura you can! Eating it hot on the spot in shop is best. The noodles are chewy and the meat is well marinated and cooked to perfection. The sauce and runny eggs blend the whole dish together super well. make sure you break that egg yolk and mix it well before eating. They also sell soup Ban Mee if you prefer something more soupy and it is a very hearty bowl too! Besides noodles they also sell curry rice with pork or chicken cutlet! There really is a wide variety of food in store so do drop in to check it out. The shop is a small one so tables are spaced close together so you might hear your neighbors’ conversations. But the eating culture of these shops is to have quick meal and let others sit down to eat hahah. Highly recommended!

One of the best things about Singapore is our multicultural society with a wide variety of different foods. You can find food from probably any country here. One of my favorite things to eat is Japanese Yakitori and my favorite place to get it is TORI-Q which has many outlets across Singapore but the quality is always good and consistent! Some of my favorite items to eat are quail eggs and pork skewers! You can also get rice to go with your skewers at TORI-Q. The prices of the skewers are also quite affordable, starting from $1.40 per stick. There are some outlets with seats like the one I visited at plaza Singapura, while some shops are just purely takeaway. The dine in shops are usually quite small so the tables are close together and it is quite likely you will be able to hear your neighbor’s conversations. I highly recommend this chain of Yakitori, you won’t regret it!

One of the best places to go for sunset is Marina Barrage, from there you will be able to see the sunset with the city skyline. You can have a picnic on the well lawned grass or fly a kite there. I did some cycling along the waterway to explore and admire the area and it is simply amazing and fills me with awe at what Singapore has accomplished. You can easily assess it from gardens by the bay MRT station. Highly recommend for days with good weather and you just want somewhere to chill at. Bring your own mat, food and drinks as there’s no shops nearby to get them.

This is actually a super underrated cafe to visit. That’s my takeaway after my recent visit. The sandwiches and pastas are actually quite good! The Kith club sandwich was well toasted and full of ingredients and they taste absolutely fantastic. There were too many ingredients they kept falling out when I was eating it in one bite. The pollo pasta was Al dente and the cream was savory and not overbearing. The portion of chicken was generous too. This is a family friendly cafe right next to a playground in the mall. So there might be kids running around and making noise. The cafe also has WiFi and power sockets to do work. The service was good and everything was clean and tidy. The tables are well spaced out so you won’t be eavesdropped upon. I would definitely come back!

In Singapore hot and humid weather, it is important to keep hydrated and cool. It’s no wonder you can always find bubble tea shops around the corner. Recently, I came across this new chain that popped up across the island selling ice cream cones, and wide variety of cold drinks from bubble teas to fruity teas! Their prices are also very affordable, you can get something for $2-3 dollar. The cream ice cone size is quite large so I shared it with my friend. The fruit tea had lots of real fruits inside too! Annual Singapore Night Festival

Singapore Night Festival always has a place in my heart. The Singapore Night Festival is an annual event that was first held in 2008. It has always been unique and immersive experience for me! I’m sure I’m not the only one who really enjoys Singapore Night Festival!!
The vibrant and dynamic atmosphere that brings the city to life after dark has always been the best part I like about the festival!! It has become a key event on Singapore's cultural calendar, celebrating the intersection of art, technology, and heritage.

National Monument in Singapore
Really lucky to be given a chance to visit Singapore's former railway station at Tanjong Pagar during the year of Jubilee! This train station was opened in 1932 and vacated in 2011, I recalled when I was younger, I always hear trains passing by and I wonder if I ever have a chance to hop on them. Until today, olden days trains still hold a special place in my heart.
Of course, they are not the fastest way to travel between countries, but it just have a very 莫名其妙 feeling that captures me! Sharing some interior photos here because it will never be the same again after the restoration which is slated to complete in year 2026!
Thank you trip.com for giving me chance to flip back some of the photos in my hard disk, this is probably one of my SG memories!

Coney Island
One of the island in Singapore located in the north-east, I recalled this island was probably a thing in 2014 or so where many people would go there and ended up with sandflies' bites.
I love cycling among the tall trees where there are cycling routes, you can even explore further in or out at Punggol Waterway Park. There is a mini obstacle course featured in the second photo of my post and a jetty where you can see people fishing, my favourite is definitely the tall trees. Have I not mentioned, this place is also popular for pre-wedding shoot!

The Amazon in Singapore!
#singaporetrip
Here's one for all the adventure movie lovers: you can live your own Amazon Jungle Cruise fantasy right here in Singapore at River Wonders (formerly River Safari). The experience was fun, enriching!
River Wonders is 1 of 4 parks at Mandai Wildlife Reserve. While most flock here to see the Pandas, one should never miss the boat ride through an Amazon-themed tropical river.
At SGD5 per person for a ride, the 10-15 minute ride brings visitors through mangroves and rainforests where many unique animals can be spotted - capybaras, flamingos, guanacos, and much more. These animals are native to the South American rainforests, so one might never get to see them in person if not for River Wonders.
Tips:
1. Be prepared for a splash! You might get a bit wet when the boat slides down slopes.
2. Go in the morning or later afternoon when the sun is not glaring.
3. Tickets are SGD37.80, SGD42 for non-residents
Look forward to exotic fish, electric eels, giant otters, manatees and even anacondas as well! Much recommended to come here for a day of adventures.

Around the world in Bird Paradise 🦅

For those who dream of going around the world, but don't have the time - Bird Paradise Singapore makes an awesome substitute. Recently opened in May, this 17ha park is the largest in Asia and stars over 3,500 birds of more than 400 species - some looking like your wildest imagination!
The key highlights here are the 8 themed aviaries:
1. Heart of Africa
2. Wings of Asia
3. Crimson Wetlands
4. Amazonian Jewels
5. Songs of the Forest
6. Mysterious Papua
7. Australian Outback
8. Lory Loft
Fun fact: if you're wondering where Antarctica is, head to Penguin Cove near the entrance!
Each aviary was stunning - full of surprises. My favorite was Wings of Asia - fans of Bali, you'll feel right at home because there's a mini Gate of Heaven and Tegallalang Rice Terrace! The species of birds were wonderful to explore. Think again if you feel you know birds. Apart from exploring birds from around the world, this place offers many F&B options and activities for kids.
Overall, a must-do when in Singapore (even locals)! You're bound to have tons of fun and learning.

If you are visiting Singapore, two things to note is that we have hot weather and we love eating ice cold desserts to cool off. One of the most shiok places to eat ice cold desserts in Singapore is Ice cream at Salted Caramel. The ice cream is thick and creamy and very flavorful. The waffles are also freshly made and topped with honey. One the best flavors is, as the shop’s name suggests, salted caramel!
