LAKEY BEACH
Currently, most of those who come to Lakey Beach are foreign tourists such as from Australia, South America, the United States, and others. This beach is located in Hu'u District, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. Lakey Beach is actually one of the famous beaches as one of the best and unique surfing areas in the world. What's unique? The waves turned out to have a sweeping direction to the left instead of to the right as usual. This uniqueness has also in fact been fulfilled with the beauty of the beach which has become a byword, especially among surfing enthusiasts. Copy that, the fairly strong sea breeze in this area also supports surfing, wind surfing, or kite surfing. Lakey Beach has relatively stable waves throughout the year (no matter the season) and is therefore the location for several world-class surfing competitions. Dozens of participants in this competition usually come from various parts of the world and also Indonesia. The advantages of beach tourism offered by Lakey Beach can actually be seen in the center of Dompu City, marked by a statue of a person surfing. For surfing enthusiasts, big and high waves are highly sought after but the waves at Lakey Beach which are not too high (only 6-8 meters) are actually challenging when they have to be conquered with left-handed waves that require special skills. Foreign tourists deliberately come all the way to the beach in the South of Sumbawa Island to try out their surfing skills. Lakey Beach has four types of waves that surfers tout, namely Lakey Peak, Cobble Stones, Lakey Pipe, and Periscope. The most challenging and great type for surfing is Lakey Peak because it presents challenging waves from the left and right; on the left is a long tunnel, while on the right is a roll of waves perfect for surfing.
