The Sea Breeze and Sunshine of Samsun: An Unforgettable Black Sea Journey
My impression of Turkey has always been the sunny beaches of the Mediterranean and the blue waters of the Aegean Sea. This time, I decided to head to the Black Sea coast to explore a vibrant and charming city - Samsun. Before setting off, I knew little about Samsun, only that it was an important port city along the Black Sea. However, this trip brought me many unexpected surprises.
The moment I arrived in Samsun, I was deeply attracted by its fresh air and beautiful sea view. Unlike the passionate and unrestrained Mediterranean, Samsun showcases a gentle and soothing Black Sea charm. The sea breeze gently caressed my face, mixed with a faint salty taste and the fragrance of earth, making me feel extremely comfortable. I stayed at a seaside hotel, where I could enjoy the endless Black Sea and the rolling mountains in the distance just by opening the window.
On the second day, I began to explore the city. The streets of Samsun are clean and tidy, with modern buildings and traditional houses complementing each other, presenting a unique urban landscape. I wandered through the city's alleys, feeling the rhythm of the city. It is not as bustling as Istanbul, but it is full of vitality. The local residents are friendly and enthusiastic. Even if we didn't speak the same language, they would use body language to express their goodwill, making me feel the warmth of human kindness.
In the city center, I found an unremarkable small restaurant, but unexpectedly tasted the most authentic Black Sea seafood. Fresh sea fish and shellfish, paired with local spices and sauces, were incredibly delicious, leaving me with endless aftertaste. The restaurant owner, a passionate middle-aged man, enthusiastically introduced the characteristics of each dish and shared his insights on life with me. His sincerity and enthusiasm deeply moved me.
In the morning, I decided to walk along the coastline. The winding coastline, blue sea, and rolling green mountains formed a stunning landscape. I stopped at many small bays, listening to the sound of waves crashing against the rocks and feeling the tranquility and peace of this land. The sea breeze gently blew, bringing a refreshing coolness that made me feel relaxed and comfortable. I also saw many locals walking and cycling along the coast, enjoying their leisurely time.
In a small bay, I found a beautiful beach. Unlike the crowded beaches along the Mediterranean, the sand here is fine and soft, and the sea is crystal clear. I lay on the beach, enjoying the sunshine and the gentle sea breeze, feeling completely relaxed. I also tried swimming in the Black Sea. Although the water temperature was slightly lower than the Mediterranean, the cool feeling was unforgettable.
In the afternoon, I rented a bicycle and rode along the coastline. The scenery along the way was breathtaking. I admired the magnificent Black Sea and the beautiful parks and green spaces along the way. During the ride, I felt an unprecedented sense of freedom and relaxation. Along the way, I also saw many locals picnicking and exercising in the parks, enjoying the beautiful afternoon.
In the evening, I had dinner at a seaside restaurant. I ordered a local specialty of grilled meat, which was tender and juicy, paired with a unique local sauce, it was delicious. The restaurant's atmosphere was very relaxed, and I chatted with tourists at the neighboring table about Samsun. They enthusiastically shared many interesting stories about the city with me. Watching the sunset, the golden sunlight shining on the sea, the scenery was breathtaking.
At night, I strolled along the seaside of Samsun, feeling the tranquility and peace of the city. The Black Sea at night was deep and mysterious, with stars reflecting on the sea, creating a stunning view. I sat on a bench by the sea, gazing at the starry sky, feeling the tranquility and comfort.
On the last day in Samsun, I went to the local market to experience the life of the locals. The market was bustling with people, and various goods were dazzling, full of a strong sense of life. I interacted with the locals and felt their enthusiasm and friendliness. I bought some local specialties, such as honey, tea, and handicrafts, as souvenirs of the trip.
Leaving Samsun, my heart was filled with emotion. This city on the Black Sea coast brought me not only beautiful scenery but also the simple folk customs and unique culture of the locals. The fresh air, beautiful sea view, and warm hospitality of the people of Samsun will become unforgettable memories for me. Samsun, a place far beyond my expectations, a place worth visiting again. This trip was not only a sightseeing tour but also a spiritual cleansing, allowing me to feel the charm of the Black Sea and the tranquility of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. The sea breeze and sunshine of Samsun will forever remain in my heart.
