Opened by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1952, this small roadside restaurant marked the birthplace of the iconic fried chicken that would become a global sensation. While it was fascinating to see where the KFC story began, we personally found the fried chicken there to be quite chewy and salty compared to what we’re used to in Malaysia. In our opinion, the Malaysian KFC is crispier and juicier, offering a more satisfying bite. Still, it was a memorable stop for any KFC fan!

The Utah State Capitol is one of the most beautiful capitols in the world. It has stunning artwork, brilliant architecture and sits on a high hilltop which offers an incredible view across Salt Lake City. The statue of the first female senator elected to congress, Martha Hughes Cannon, is impressive too. This is a great photo location as it’s full of marble stone work and statues.

Antelope Island is home to free-ranging bison, mule deer, bighorn sheep, pronghorn (antelope), and many other desert animals. Millions of birds congregate along the shores surrounding the island, offering unparalleled opportunities for birding. The artificial colorful Danxia of the Big Copper Mine passed through Salt Lake City when entering Yellowstone. A large chimney stood at the foot of the Great Salt Lake overlooking the mountain. The tour guide said that the chimney is higher than the Empire State Building in New York. It was a large copper smelter in Salt Lake City; when I visited the Utah Parliament, I heard that the Byzantine domes of the buildings were all cast from the mine.
