The Best City in Europe
I can confidently say that I live in the best city in Europe - Saint Petersburg. My husband and I have traveled extensively and visited many countries, but no place has offered the same value for money as here. Saint Petersburg has it all: beautiful architecture, developed infrastructure, and incredibly delicious food in top-tier restaurants, often surpassing those in Europe. The service industry is exceptional, whether in the restaurant business or beauty salons.
In Saint Petersburg and Russia as a whole, the banking system is highly advanced, with user-friendly apps and seamless online support available. We also have a well-developed delivery system—you can have any groceries delivered to your door in just 15 minutes. For those who prioritize health, we have private clinics at reasonable prices, as well as local farms offering organic products.
Local businesses are thriving in Russia, producing high-quality clothing that often surpasses mass-market brands like Zara. As for the city itself, it is stunning! Just look at the photos. Another great feature is the abundance of pine and deciduous forests around the city, where you can pick mushrooms and berries, swim in lakes, and enjoy barbecues. The air here is always fresh and clean, which is essential for me, as I can’t tolerate cities with poor air quality.
We also have a comfortable climate with all four seasons. If you haven’t visited Saint Petersburg yet, come and see for yourself—you’ll love it! #SaintPetersburg #russia #localguides #europe

Hermitage Museum
The Hermitage Museum is one of the most important and largest museums in the world. Located in Saint Petersburg, it was built to showcase the power and glory of the Tsars of the Russian Empire. Originally, Queen Catherine collected famous paintings from all over the world, necessitating the creation of rooms to store these artworks and treasures, which were rarely seen by the public. Later, the collections were categorized and opened to the public. The museum houses over 2,700,000 pieces of art, and it would take more than 5 years to see everything. It is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as the gallery with the most extensive collection of artworks in the world. It is considered one of the most beautiful, oldest, and largest art museums in the world.
Yes, walking for 4-5 hours and only seeing the highlights is still not enough to cover everything.
Saint Isaac's Cathedral in Saint Petersburg, a visual shock of Russian aesthetics.
Visiting Saint Petersburg, one cannot help but marvel at the visual impact of Russian aesthetics🤩. Among them, the interior of Saint Isaac's Cathedral is gilded, decorated with malachite, and features a grand crystal chandelier weighing three tons🎇. There are also many colorful murals and mosaic inlays🕌. Climbing to the top of the tower offers a panoramic view of the entire city, which is stunning!❄️ Visiting again at night when it snows, Saint Isaac's Cathedral is even more enchanting than during the day.
The Smolny Cathedral
The Smolny Cathedral is part of the architectural ensemble of the Smolny Convent, located in Saint Petersburg on the left bank of the Neva River. The Smolny Cathedral and the Smolny Convent were built in the Baroque style under the decree of Empress Elizabeth, who intended to retire to the convent in her old age. The Smolny Cathedral was established as the cathedral of the first educational institution for noble girls or girls of noble descent in Russia. Over time, the Smolny Institute became the most prestigious institution for women.
Saint Isaac's Cathedral
Saint Isaac's Cathedral is the largest, most beautiful church and the fourth largest Christian cathedral in the world. It took over four decades to build. Additionally, the upper balcony offers the highest viewpoint in Saint Petersburg (since there are no tall buildings there).
This cathedral was constructed in the mid-19th century as the main church of the city. It is said that Saint Isaac's Cathedral is the most elaborately decorated cathedral of its era, made with gold leaf weighing a total of 100 kilograms and decorated with over 43 types of marble and other stones. Due to its grandeur, it once hosted the wedding ceremony of Peter the Great and Catherine in 1712.
The most distinctive feature is its golden dome, which is the largest symbol of the city. This is likely true as the magnificent golden dome can be seen from many places in the city.
Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood
The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is a true example of Russian architecture, which stands out from other buildings in Saint Petersburg that are mostly Baroque and Neoclassical. Many people often compare this church to Saint Basil's Cathedral in Moscow. Personally, I am most impressed by the interior decoration of this church. (I don't know if it's just my perception, but I see elements of early mosaics, which are very beautiful and different from other palaces or churches.)
The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood was built by Tsar Alexander III to commemorate his father, Tsar Alexander II, who was assassinated at this location in 1881. The construction took over 20 years.
Tsar Alexander II (1818-1881) survived several assassination attempts until the sixth attempt, where he was severely injured and lost a lot of blood, leading to his death at the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood.
After Tsar Alexander III ascended to the throne, he built the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood at the site where Tsar Alexander II was assassinated (as shown in picture 6) as a memorial.

Lovely weather in May! A clear afternoon in Saint Petersburg~
Peter and Paul Cathedral, 125 meters high. The proportion of that large spire to the main body is quite different from the style of Western Europe. It is said that the designer of the top weathervane was rewarded by the emperor with an amber wine cup, allowing him to drink for free in any tavern, earning a lifetime supply of drinks. How romantic~
I also visited Peter and Paul (also known as Rabbit Island), took pictures with the popular rabbit, and saw the double-headed eagle sculpture. One head looks to the east, and the other to the west, quite a grand layout...
The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, didn't have time to go inside, but the weather was very good! So I got some very vivid onion dome photos~
Kazan Cathedral, the side door has many Roman columns, very reminiscent of the Spanish Square.
Then went to Saint Isaac's Cathedral (the Golden Dome Church), it is said that many craftsmen were sacrificed, using mercury mixed with gold leaf, layer by layer applied to the dome, the gold leaf could only stick after the mercury evaporated. It looks quite resplendent in good weather. Also didn't have time to go in, just looked at the large bronze doors, carved with the story of Jesus' crown of thorns.
Finally went to the Decembrists' Square, viewed Saint Isaac's Cathedral from a distance, saw the bronze statue of Peter the Great, the horse stepping on a snake, representing the conservatives and Sweden. Also saw a local couple taking wedding photos on the lawn~
Good weather really is the best~

Catherine’s Palace
It’s a one day trip, 30 km from St. Petersburg to the town called Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin). Catherine’s Palace was a summer residence of Russian Emperors. It’s incredibly beautiful!!! It was destroyed during the World War II, but was renovated and continues to impress visitors with its luxury royal style.
Complex has lots of interesting separated exhibitions, but the main sightseeing is, of course, the Palace.
It’s better to come here with touristic groups, because they can organize the entrance tickets quicker than in direct queue. It’s possible to wait for your turn for couple of hours, but this place is worth every second.
There are amazing parks all around the Palace. So, I recommend you to wear comfortable boots . You will have a lot of places to visit here.

Church of the Catherine Palace
The church is a part of the whole palace, but it has a separate entrance, and represents a separate sightseeing in Pushkin city in St. Petersburg suburbs.
Church is located in the northern part of the palace and connected to the famous imperial Lyceum.
Church inside is very beautiful. Blue walls and golden luxurious decorations create a great interior. That beauty is really impressive!!!
✅You can buy tickets to the church by the entrance (Sadovaya Street).
✅Price - 350 RUB.
✅All visitors will be organized by small groups and will be guided by professional tourist guide who will tell you the history of that place and will show you the most interesting parts.

Peter and Paul Fortress
It’s a famous fortress in St Petersburg, by Neva River. It was built to protect the city, and it served like a prison for political prisoners.
Lots of tourists visit this island because of Peter and Paul Cathedral. It is beautifully decorated inside. But the main attraction is graves of almost all the rules of Russian Empire. Last Emperor with his family was buried here too.
📍How to get there: subway- Gorkovskaya and Sportivnaya stations
📍Opens every day from 10 am till 6 pm
📍Ticket: 350 RUB
✅Tours with tour guides are available too. You can join the groups by the ticket office.

Kazan Cathedral
Walking around Nevsky Prospect in St. Petersburg you can’t miss the beautiful Cathedral with huge columns. This cathedral was built in 1811 but after 1812 it became a monument to celebrate the victory in the war. The famous Marshal Kutuzov was buried in this cathedral. Lots of people nowadays come to visit his grave.
Now Cathedral functions like a church with all the services. But it’s also a museum.
This Cathedral is also famous because of the “miracle-making” icon. Come inside and try to ask for smth. Miracles happen sometimes 😉
Address- Nevsky Prospect, 2. Kazanskaya Square.

Peterhof Palace
It’s the most popular destination among tourists of St Petersburg. Petergof complex is amazing! It was an imperial residence and it had the other unofficial name “the Russian Versailles”. Palace is incredibly beautiful. But parks and fountains ⛲️ will definitely impress you too. In the morning there is a fountain show in front of the palace. Come here earlier to be in time and to catch that moment.
I would recommend you to plan the whole day for this trip.
📍How to get there?
There are 2 ways:
✅1st- public transport.
✅2nd - more popular among tourists is a boat trip from downtown. Boats are called Meteors . They leave every 30 minutes from the pier next to the Winter Palace. Tickets are for the round trip, so you don’t need to worry how to go back.
Separate tickets to Petergof you need to buy by the entrance.

Movable bridges in St. Petersburg
Interesting activity when you are in St. Petersburg. A night tour along the river helps tourists to catch the moment when bridges start to move. Bridges will separate 2 parts of the city, but it’s a right time to sail under them on the boat or yacht and see all the details of this process.
It’s possible to find tickets and the boat everywhere in the city in touristic places. You can choose the location of the start point that is comfortable for you, type of the boat, and other services that can be included. Usually tour takes 2 hours in the late evening.
You will see the amazing panorama of the night city from the river and “bridges” show.
Take warm clothes with you! Nights are very cold there even in summer!

St. Petersburg and European architecture 🏰
Russia is a country with a vast area covering both Europe and Asia. It has beautiful architecture, especially St. Petersburg. Most of its architecture is influenced by the European zone and was once the capital of Russia before it was renamed Moscow.
St. Petersburg is a beautiful, classic city with many interesting museums and architecture. It is suitable for tourists with a small budget who want a full European feel because if you compare the cost of living with Scandinavia or Europe, it is much cheaper.
There are restaurants and coffee shops with prices starting at 30 baht.
Traveling is very convenient. Take a plane to Moscow and then a connecting flight to St. Petersburg. Or you can choose to travel by train. I recommend booking a night train because it will arrive in St. Petersburg in the morning. It is considered another kind of adventure. It is very fun.
What you need to know is that Russia is very cold. Prepare winter gear and a survival kit because the local food may not be very tasty. I have warned you. 😌
Recommended tourist attractions: Winter Palace, Summer Palace, St. Isaac's Cathedral, Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, Kazan Cathedral #St. Petersburg #Russia
