2024 Sa Kaeo Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Today's Weather
Mostly cloudy 23-32℃
Pang Sida Waterfall
Pang Sida National Park, Sa Kaeo Province. The weather is nice this time of year, but the waterfall doesn't have much water. There are some butterflies to be seen, but not many. The campsite at km 25 offers beautiful views, but you need to travel another 20 kilometers on a dirt road from Pong Butterfly. (Not recommended for sedans or low cars)
There is no electricity, so make sure to prepare food and water.
- The lower campsite near the visitor center has a wide green lawn.
- Separate male and female restrooms.
- Cooking area and dishwashing sink.
- Security personnel on duty at all times.
- Cooking in front of tents is not allowed, but instant noodles and coffee are permitted.
- For those who enjoy an adventurous atmosphere with beautiful views, the km 25 campsite is recommended, about 20 kilometers from the visitor center.
Butterfly Watching at Pang Sida National Park, Sa Kaeo
Went during the butterfly watching festival. The entrance fee to the park is 40 baht per person and 30 baht for a car. Inside, there are accommodations and camping spots available. However, for day-trippers, there are 3 main attractions:
The first spot is Pang Sida Waterfall, which has parking, a coffee shop, and park facilities. As of June 29, 2014, the waterfall had no water.
The second spot is a butterfly viewing pavilion. This is a checkpoint where visitors must register if they want to go to the viewpoint. There are a lot of butterflies here, but the staff suggests that the best time to see them is early in the morning from 8 to 10 am, and if it rains, the butterflies won't come out.
The third spot is the viewpoint. The road from the second spot to this one is a gravel path, but it's drivable. The road has some potholes. When I went up, it had just stopped raining and the road was still okay. Also, because of the rain, there was fog at the top, which was a pleasant surprise.
For those who want to go up, it will take some time. There are no restrooms at the top, but you can use the ones at the camping area before heading up.
Shall we go to the waterfall? : Pang Sida Waterfall in Sa Kaeo Province.
Pang Sida Waterfall is located in Pang Sida National Park and is considered the most beautiful waterfall in Sa Kaeo Province. The waterfall is about 300 meters away from the park's office and is accessible by foot. It is a three-tiered waterfall with a large pool at the bottom where visitors can swim. The area around the waterfall is covered with trees, creating a very shady and refreshing atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing or chill day. If you visit during the rainy season, you will see a magnificent large waterfall, and during this period, there are many butterflies to be seen, making it an absolutely unseen attraction. I recommend this as a must-visit place.
📍Location: Pang Sida Waterfall, Pang Sida National Park, Watthana Nakhon District, Sa Kaeo Province

The Park that are famous for Butterflies
#thailandtrip This national park is famous for butterfly watching. The are a few spots that are very convenient for tourist to observe several species of butterfly licking salt during certain time of the year. Better check before you come to make sure it is the right timing. You can come here by car, bus or train. It takes around 3.30 - 4 hours from Bangkok to Sa Kaeo. The national park is far from Sa Kaeo bus station around 30 - 40 minutes. But travel is all worth it!
