Ruili Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
One Village, Two Countries Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
I won at mahjong in the border town of Ruili
Traveling in Mangshi, today I drove to the border town of Ruili, where you can feel the atmosphere of Myanmar 🇲🇲 without leaving the country. Accidentally, even my phone's time zone switched to Myanmar's.
From Mangshi🚗Ruili, it takes about 1.5 hours, all on the highway, and the road conditions are very 👌🏻
How to spend a day in Ruili❓
📍Jiele Golden Pagoda: A 🆓 open attraction, you need to take off your shoes to enter, there are very few people, only a handful of locals, and the golden pagoda under the sun is really beautiful ☀️
(Almost no tourists)
📍Jiegao Port: No tickets required, there's a commercial street and a small market within the port area, and right across is 🇲🇲
(Some tourists, but not crowded)
📍One Village Two Countries: 🎫39, you can see many attractions with features of both countries, and a jade stone border is quite unique. There are costume rentals for photography 📷 in the scenic area, but the part across the border is not open yet.
(Some tourists, but not crowded)
📍Jiedong King Banyan Tree: A 500-year-old super big banyan tree🌳, very spectacular.
(Almost no tourists)
📍Total Buddha Temple: A very photogenic temple, where you can watch the sunset 🌇 from the mountaintop.
(Almost no tourists)
If time permits, you can also go to 📍Moli Waterfall and hike to see the tropical rainforest.
For dining 🍴, you can go to the Myanmar Thai Special Tea Restaurant, which has a very Southeast Asian atmosphere. It's busy at noon but the turnover is quick. The buttered pancakes with fresh milk are super sweet and delicious 👍🏻, and the iced milk tea is rich and I really like it without sugar.
There are many people in Mangshi for the long holiday, so if you have time, go to Ruili to experience the slow life with an exotic touch ❤️
Can the swings that once crossed borders in a village divided between two countries still swing across the frontier?
The famous 'One Village, Two Countries' attraction still has its traditional swings, but with masks 😷 on, the border line has been completely fenced off with barriers, so swinging across the border is no longer possible. However, a sneeze can still echo through both countries . The local government still allows residents from the other side to work, live, and trade in the village. Looking at the last photo of the woman with five jars on her head, they are the Burmese Jar Carriers 🤓. The women sitting down in photo 16 are the Karen Long Neck people from Thailand and Myanmar .
One Village, Two Countries Scenic Area
The One Village, Two Countries Scenic Area is located next to the No. 71 boundary marker on the China-Myanmar border in Ruili City, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is a typical geographical spectacle where one village is divided into two countries by the national border. The Chinese side is called Yinyin, and the Myanmar side is called Mangxiu. In the village, there is a swing called 'One Village, Two Countries Swing' situated right next to the border line. Directly opposite is the Mangxiu village of Myanmar. Sitting on it and giving a gentle push, you can 'swing' into another country in an instant. Inside the scenic area, there is a well named 'One Village, Two Countries Well', with the names engraved on a stone stele in both Chinese and Burmese. One side of the well is in China, and the other side is in Myanmar. For decades, residents of both villages have been sharing this well water, truly a testament to how the land and water nurture the people of two nations.
⏳Visiting Time:
Purchase a ticket to visit, with a price of 30 yuan. The visiting time is 1 to 2 hours.
Yinyin Village
Yinyin Village is located next to the famous China-Myanmar border marker No. 71, and is a typical 'One Village, Two Countries' border area. It falls under the jurisdiction of Shunha Village, Jie Xiang Township, Ruili City, which includes Yinyin Society One and Yinyin Society Two. Yinyin ancient village is connected to Myanmar, with fields and houses of both sides interlocked, villages interconnected, and the sounds of chickens and dogs heard across the border. The locals intermarry and trade with each other, and cultural exchanges are extremely frequent. Children from Myanmar can attend Yinyin Border Defense Elementary School and go back to Myanmar for lunch at home. Yinyin ancient village is developing its tourism industry, and many families in the village have started to run family hotels to accommodate friends from all over. The road from Ruili to Nongdao divides the same Dai village into two, with the Chinese side called Yinyin and the Myanmar side called Mangxiu. The national boundary line in the village is demarcated by bamboo sheds, village roads, ditches, and ridges. As a result, it is common for Chinese melon vines to climb onto Myanmar's bamboo fences to bear fruit, and for Myanmar's hens to lay eggs in the homes of Chinese residents. The villagers share the same language and customs, they walk the same road, drink from the same well, go to the same market, live in harmony, and pass down their traditions from generation to generation, becoming a beautiful tale.
⏳Visiting Time:
Admission is charged, with a ticket price of 30 yuan, and the visiting time is 1 to 2 hours.

Moli Tropical Rainforest Scenic Area Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Moli Tropical Rainforest Scenic Area
The Moli Tropical Rainforest Scenic Area is located in Ruili City, with a wide variety of wild plants, flowers, and spices👍💯. The area is filled with ancient towering trees📸, and walking through the forest with its sky-obscuring canopy, one immediately feels the cool breeze👍🌹. There is a golden Dai-style pagoda📸; at the end of the canyon, there is a waterfall with a drop of about 60 meters📸, which one can imagine must be magnificent during the rainy season; and a small hot spring📸, with water a foot deep, crystal clear to the bottom. These photo spots are all endowed with beautiful legends💕😘. There are also unique attractions such as the Stone Wrapped in Tree📸 and the Cave Heaven and Blessed Land📸...
The area has a high concentration of negative oxygen ions, making it a natural oxygen bar👍😍.
Ruili Self-Driving One-Day Tour Complete Guide
My itinerary: Depart from Mang City (leave early due to bad roads) - Moli Tropical Rainforest - Single Tree Becomes Forest - General Buddha Temple (under major renovation) - Jiedonglao Banyan Tree King - One Village Two Countries - Ruili Port - Ruili Live Crabs - Stay in Ruili
🌸 Moli Tropical Rainforest 4🌟 (Recommended)
More interesting than the tropical rainforest of the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, with various ancient trees reaching to the sky, very cool.
Waterfalls over 60 meters high and golden Thai-style pavilions in the forest.
🌸 Single Tree Becomes Forest 2🌟 (Not recommended)
The scenic area is very small, with a thousand-year-old banyan tree but not as tall as the Banyan Tree King in Jiedonglao.
🌸 General Buddha Temple
Drones are restricted, and you can't go to the golden pagoda in the back, don't go recently! 🙅
🌸 Jiedonglao Banyan Tree King 4🌟 (Recommended)
A 500-year-old banyan tree, more like a single tree becomes a forest than the actual Single Tree Becomes Forest.
The largest rattan-woven Buddha in China.
🌸 One Village Two Countries 4🌟 (Recommended)
After 4 p.m., there are fewer tourists and the lighting is also good.
The most photogenic is the red brick pagoda, with a coffee shop on one side, also great for taking photos.
Myanmar and China are really separated by just an iron fence, after 5 p.m. many children play near the fence, they will ask for money directly in Chinese, and curse if you don't give.
🌸 Ruili Port 5🌟 (Must go!)
Searching for 'Sister Tells Port' won't find the national gate, you have to search for Ruili Port.
Be sure to go in the evening, the national gate glows under the setting sun and looks very beautiful.
Facing the national gate, on the left hand side there is a 'Ends of the Earth' large stone monument and the sign for the end of National Highway 320.
Returning to Ruili city from the national gate requires going through a customs channel, which is slightly congested; even if you take the no-declaration channel, you have to roll down the car window for a trunk inspection.
🌸 Ruili Live Crabs
The meat is fresh and firm, and the spicy flavor is very delicious.
Business starts at 16:00 in the afternoon.
Yunnan Baoshan Tourism: A perfect combination of adventure and tranquility, are you looking forward to it?

The above travel plan avoids crowded places as much as possible, focusing on natural scenery and cultural charm. The amount of exercise is moderate, suitable for the elderly and children to participate together. Wish you and your family a happy Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday travel!
There are many tropical rain forests in Yunnan. The Mori Tropical Rainforest Scenic Area is located 25 kilometers northeast of Ruili City and belongs to the national 4A scenic spots. It is warm and humid, with plenty of sunshine. The forest coverage rate is over 96%. There are 1,540 plant species, 479 species of flowers and spices, and more than a dozen rare species protected by the state. According to the story of the Buddhist scriptures, the Buddha has shunned the world to practice here, and many moving stories with elephants, monkeys and other creatures have been handed down to this day. It is not only a place to visit in Ruili, but also a great destination for the soul journey of all ages.

Ruilishi Zongfu Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Reverse Travel in Ruili·1
☀️ Guanyin Temple
I happened to see Dai girls listening to scriptures and learning the Dharma in the temple, who were in retreat. According to Dai tradition, during the three months from the Start of Summer Retreat Festival to the End of Summer Retreat Festival, it is not permissible to date, marry, or engage in construction, which are colloquially known as the 'Closing Door Festival' and 'Opening Door Festival'.
💧 Maoxiang Road
Passed by after leaving Guanyin Temple, the shops on this road don't even have signs in Chinese, it's like being in Myanmar.
🌟 Zongfo Temple
There was a master lecturing on the second floor, which sounded very peaceful. The entrance to the stairs had a sign saying 'Tourists, please do not disturb'. Opposite is the Dai King's Palace, but it's still under construction, so I didn't go up.
🔥 Mengmao Town Banbeng Village
An unexpected delight on the way to Zongfo Temple, a delicate little Dai village with features of Theravada Buddhism, including Zang houses and colorful sculptures, and bilingual broadcasts in Chinese and Dai language. In the evening, there might be a kind of eerie Southeast Asian horror and mystery.
⭐️ Jiegao Port
A classic checkpoint, surrounded by shops selling Burmese and Thai specialties.
🌙 Bahu Coffee
The decoration and menu are quite interesting. I ordered a 'Three Seconds' (a special blend of kumquat, jasmine, and oolong) and a fresh coconut latte, the latter of which was beyond expectations, very fragrant and not too sweet.
A'kao Family Hand-Grabbed Rice
❄️ Fire-Roasted Crispy Butter Cake with Fresh Milk
This is the best of the show! A fragrant, soft yet chewy cake paired with rich coconut milk, truly a delight for those who try it!
☁️ Thai Spicy Chicken Stir-Fried Noodles
A stir-fried noodle dish with a strong sauce flavor, not too sour, and a very harmonious taste.
🌸 Thai Chicken Rice
This is a safe choice, their chicken rice is not too hard, quite soft~
Watching the rainbow connecting the China-Myanmar border at the Zongfo Temple in Ruili
Zongfo Temple🏯, with its long history and rich cultural connotations, originates from the traditional Buddhist culture of the Dai nationality. 👑 It is a sacred place in the hearts of the local people. Here, one can appreciate the unique Dai architectural style and 🙏 feel the influence of Buddhist culture.
Fortunately, at the end of the tour 👀, I suddenly saw some people walking to the other side of the temple, full of curiosity I followed, 🥺 and was amazed by the sight in front of me!
Under the setting sun, the pagoda was like a shining pearl, ☀ radiating light in all directions, and the grandeur of the entire building added an exotic charm. 🇲🇲 The Myanmar border is right in front of you, and you can see the scenery of Myanmar across, feeling like standing at the junction of two countries 🎊.
The most astonishing thing was that 🌈 a rainbow spanned the entire pagoda, as if it were a spiritual symbol connecting the pagoda with the heavens. 🌇 In such a wonderful environment, it seemed as if the deities between heaven and earth were smiling. The charming scenery 🎐, complementing the Zongfo Temple, makes one linger and forget to return 🍃.
📝Tips: It is recommended to charter a car or drive to the Zongfo Temple 🚗, as it is located in a more remote area, and it may be inconvenient to get a taxi back. Also, there is no public transportation ❗

May all your wishes come true at Ruili General Buddha Temple!
📍Ruili General Buddha Temple~Dai King Palace Ruins
A temple located on a mountain, overlooking China and Myanmar, is splendid and the palace is still under renovation. Under the blue sky and white clouds, it is unbeatably beautiful🛕 Ruili is a place worth visiting, and the General Buddha Temple is definitely one of them👍
May all your wishes come true at Ruili General Buddha Temple!💫💫💫

Ruili Travel | A Surprise Encounter with a Grand Buddha and a 500-Year-Old Banyan Tree
Located on the western frontier, the city of Ruili is filled with a strong exotic atmosphere.
The more famous attractions such as One Village Two Countries and Moli Waterfall are already overcrowded!!
•
Why not visit this unique, less-known spot? It's very close to you, just 3km from the city center, a ten-minute drive away.
•
In Jiedonglao, there is an ancient banyan tree that is 500 years old. Its trunk is robust, and its branches and leaves are lush, evergreen throughout all seasons, forming a 'forest from a single tree' landscape in Ruili, where branches connect to branches, branches connect to roots, and roots connect to roots, creating a sprawling whole.
Next to the Banyan Tree King, there is a grand Buddha that is very impressive, standing at 9.3 meters tall. Inside, there is also the first nationally constructed rattan-woven grand Buddha (6 meters tall) built in 2006—highly recommended!!
•
📍Location: Jiedonglao ~ A very peaceful and tranquil village, with beautiful scenery along the road, reminiscent of a hidden tropical rainforest.
·
Further in is the Xuanzang Temple. The temple is small, and you need to remove your shoes to enter the hall, which is full of incomprehensible foreign languages. Go check it out quickly~~

Free! Ruili Sister Donglao | See the King of Banyan, pray for blessings, recommended
Ruili, formerly known as 'Mengmao', named for its 'auspicious beauty', is the birthplace of Dai culture. Coming to Donglao Village in Ruili, the main thing is to see the King of Banyan - a 500-year-old banyan tree with a protection level: National Level I.
15 large banyan trees are intertwined together, growing into the current forest-like appearance, as if they are a whole, the trunk is robust and developed, the branches and leaves are lush, evergreen all year round, it is the largest banyan tree group in Ruili, larger and more spectacular than other forests.
This place was once the filming location of the TV dramas 'Golden Phoenix Blooming', 'China Expeditionary Army', 'Border Storm', and is also a popular wedding photography location.
There is currently no need for tickets here, free to visit, there is also a golden Buddha next to it, wearing an orange cassock, very shocking, 9.3 meters high, wish everything goes well and all wishes come true when you pray! The scenic area is building a Dai-style fence, next to it is a green field, and the high-rise building opposite is Ruili Yajule.
It is said that there is also a bamboo Buddha (6 meters high) built in 2006 in the bridal chamber, which I didn't see! The bamboo Buddha is very rare! There is another dragon bamboo Buddha in Manchunman Temple in Xishuangbanna, which was woven by 6 Burmese monks in 6 months.
🚗Transportation: Public transportation is not convenient, it is recommended to take a taxi to go
Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
The feast is a Ruili restaurant specializing in the style of the family. The building facing the street is a six-storey building with a distinctive Dai feature. Ant eggs are a traditional dish in the family. They are not only delicious, but also have high nutritional value. The taste is also the style of the family, which is more spicy. However, although the ant eggs are delicious, they are extremely rare. The ant eggs eaten are produced by rhubarb ants that grow on trees. When climbing the tree to get the eggs, it is inevitable to bear the bite of ants. Therefore, in the Yi folk, there has long been a saying that "it is not a strong person, I want to eat ant eggs." Deep-fried bamboo worms, which are unique to tropical rainforests. Bamboo worms grow in wild bamboo. Fresh bamboo is used as food. Local people cut bamboo from the forest and open the bamboo tube to remove bamboo worms. Match with salt and pepper. The taste is oily but not greasy, full of mouth and fragrance. The local restaurant can taste this dish during the rainy season every year. Deep-fried coconut worms, coconut worms are insects that grow in coconuts. They are similar in size and cocoon. They are the favorite food of the family. The family puts them in a frying pan, and the finished product is crispy and refreshing, fresh and spicy, and rich in flavor.
When you come to Yunnan Ruili and walk into the township, you can't miss the insect feast. We came to a local restaurant specializing in the taste of the restaurant and tasted all kinds of delicious food. The ant egg is a traditional dish in the family, not only delicious. , but also has a high nutritional value, the taste is also a family style, singing more hot and spicy. However, although the ant eggs are delicious, they are extremely rare. The ant eggs eaten are produced by rhubarb ants that grow on trees.
