The most healing blue between mountains and sea
Almost everyone who has been to Hualien will mention Chihsingtan.
It is not a bustling tourist business district, nor is it a man-made attraction, but a real, quietly existing blue world.
There is no exaggerated installation art, only the pure sound of waves, undulating gravel beaches, and the mountains and clouds in the distance.
Chihsingtan is the kind of place you will want to come again after visiting once, and every time, it is a different blue.
🌀 Why is it called "Qixingtan"? In fact, it is not a lake!
The name is "tan", but it is actually a whole bay beach facing the Pacific Ocean.
It is said that there were seven small ponds here in the past, arranged like the Big Dipper, hence the name. Although the pond is no longer seen now, the sea is as beautiful as the starry sky reflected on the earth.
🌊 Healing scenery, a coastline suitable for daze
The most fascinating thing about Chihsingtan is its breadth and purity.
Looking along the coast, you can see the intersection of the bright blue sea and the sky, with the rhythm of white waves hitting the gravel on the shore in the middle, and the towering Central Mountain Range in the background.
You can sit on the embankment and listen to the waves, or ride slowly along the bicycle path, or step barefoot on the pebbles and watch the moment the waves hit, all the pressure is washed away.
📸 Highlights for taking photos|Simple but never miss the composition
✅ The light in the morning and evening is the most beautiful, the sky gradient + the golden light on the sea is super romantic
✅ Standing on the gravel beach on the shore to take a back photo is a fixed picture for many travelers
✅ Those who like photo style can take silhouettes along the windbreak trail
✅ When the weather is good, you can take clear photos of the coastal mountains and cloud shadows in the distance
Recommended: white, blue, cotton and linen style clothes, which are the best match with the sea view!
🚴♀️ Cycling in Qixingtan, it is most comfortable to blow the wind and watch the sea!
Qixingtan has a complete bicycle path, and it is also convenient to rent a car from Hualien City or Nanbin Park.
You can ride and stop along the way to enjoy the coastal scenery, and even spread a picnic mat on the grass by the sea, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy the slow life of Eastern Taiwan.
Along the way, you will pass by: Qixing Bonito Museum, Observation Platform, Starbucks Huilan Store, Sun Viewing Pavilion and other landmarks, which are both good for taking pictures and fun!
☕ Nearby food & rest tips:
🥟 Recommended local food: bomb scallion pancakes, Miaokou black tea, Miaokou Xiaolongbao (you can visit it via Hualien City on the way back)
☕ There are also cafes and ice cream shops next to Qixingtan
🪑 There are seats, viewing platforms and parking lots along the coast, which are very convenient for walking
❗ Pay attention to safety: Qixingtan’s water depth changes greatly, and swimming in the sea is not recommended! Please be careful of the waves when you are close to the water
In Qixingtan, you don’t need to arrange too many itineraries. Sit down, listen to the wind and waves, that's enough. If you feel that life is too noisy and the pace is too fast recently, maybe you also need a place like this to do nothing and just let yourself be quietly surrounded by the sea❤️
