Getting There- Fast train or private car. Attractions - The absolutely beautiful view from the top of Tianmu mountain 🏔 . The views of the islands was so beautiful 😍 . The city was very peaceful and great to be at for a weekend trip. The hot air balloon experience 👌. Hotels - There is a variety of high end hotels. Food & Restaurants - The city does not have that much with regards to western restaurants but the Chinese restaurants also serve really good local meals😋. The hotels also provide buffets as options. Qiandao was a really beautiful small city just outside of Hangzhou😊. It is mostly surrounded by little islands and beautiful views of the lake water🏝. If you feeling adventurous, there is some water sport activities that you can try out or if you are the avid hiker, you can use that opportunity to go up Tianmu ⛰ . The hike up the mountain 🏔 on a hot day was a really tough but enjoyable experience. The hot air balloon experience was a great one as the views again really were beautiful 😍. After the hot air balloon experience, we tried out some quad biking. If you’ve been in China, you probably bought that bottle of water with a red cap available pretty much everywhere! But I bet you never wondered about its source right!? Well, Thousand Island Lake, 千岛湖 is the source of the Nongfu Spring Water! Apparently, the lake also supplies water to neighbouring cities like Hangzhou. It owes its birth to a failed reservoir project that resulted into a big lake with sprawling islands. Consequently, tourism was developed and led to the growing presence of hotels and water activities around the lake. Boats cruising the lake offer visits to two or three islands. We chose to take the speed boats as they are available at any time and also take you to three islands. The tour costs 295¥ per person. There’s a cheaper option, but it’s only available on scheduled hours. To have a view of the islands, the view point at the top is accessible by cable car or by walk. As it was hot and humid, we chose the comfort of sitting in a cable car at an extra cost of 50¥ per person. We were told that walking all the way up takes about 30 mins. There’s also a small shop for snacks and refreshments. Nothing to boast about for the second island which felt rather plain. We walked around for a waterfall and a fish pond. On the Monkey island, you can buy fruits in a bowl to feed the monkeys. How to go - 🚗 A local friend drove us there. It was about a two hour drive away from Hangzhou. Qiandao Lake is an amazing weekend adventure suitable for couples or families. While we were there we did a bunch of activities from kayaking to swimming and they even have hot air balloon rides. But we weren’t brave enough to rent one out. ⛴ The lake is quite big with small little islands and enclaves scattered arriving. making it look more like the coast of Bali than a lake inside China. The hotel we stayed at had a infinity pool overlooking the lake to get best of both worlds. the view of the lake and the comfort of a heated swimming pool 😊 All in all, I would definitely reccomend this lake and the beaches around it for a stroll and a picnic. This was a 3 day tour group trip which I felt ended way too soon. From Shanghai by bus it took us about about 5 hours and thankfully traffic was smooth . I’m not a fan of long rides but this was a great way to make new friends ! Arrived at the lake resort hotel (beautiful ❤️) around 2pm , headed over to a lake restaurant for some delicious lunch and then went cycling . Although it was hot , I pretty much enjoyed it . There’s like a special “cycling “ path of 140 km 😀 Next day we went kayaking and rafting!! best kayaking experience ever .It’s not too crowded compared to other rafting bases , and the prices are super reasonable .The base overlooks a highway and the scene is just amazing.. Last day , we went for a short hike through a nearby mountain. Walking along the path in the green forest filled with refreshing air just cleanses your lungs and mind. One must see this by getting on a boat (there are plenty that offers this service, almost like a train of shuttle boats). The rapid flow of the lake, the merging of two rivers, and then the awesome big statue. Take it in... Make sure your memory card is enough for the videos and pix. Bring good shoes here and bring water for a hot day. It is a fairly easy hike made slower by the crowds. A good side attraction that we would recommend that is in the same area is the Oriental Capital. Beautiful hotel with great views most of the rooms have a balcony stayed in a premier suit which was excellent it has a huge amount of space with 3 divided balconies. service is at the restaurants are ok, not much english speaking people, terry li at reception was great who also spoke great english and very helpful he has indeed made our stay very comfortable, the hotel is huge lots of outdoor activities with a price of course. the hotel spa was ok very friendly and gentle but i think they can do better with there products considering the price you pay. overall stay was great and convenient for touring. you given the view of the lake, comfort, and everything needed in house will definitely visit again. #hotelstay#urbanexplorer

qiandao is a beautiful place as a get away very easy to get transport out of train station.... if you wanting to take a boat ride or do other activities there are ticket offices outside the train station than can assist with that if its just a boat ride to different islands you can purchase that at the docks. below are some attached pictures of the lake and islands #hotelstay#urbanexplorer

💡Where is it - it is located in Chunan County, around 1 hour's drive from Thousand Lake Island 💡Getting There - Recommended by car, it is a unexplored village so there is few public transportation. At the entrance of the village, there is a big public parking lot, so it is very convenient to drive there. 💡Attractions - it is a very traditional Jiangnan style village, and as it is unexplored and un-commercialized, you can experience the authentic and original atmosphere of how people live in the village. The house 🏘 was built in typical Huizhou Architecture, with brick-wood structure, though worn-out, the mottlement on the wall shows the traces of the years, telling its descendant and guests the history it has been through. There are also stone bridge🏞 and clear stream, every step with a change of scene. 💡Time to spend - recommend at least 1-2 hours, to enter the village you will need to pass through a long trail with greens which will take 10-20 minutes. When I first heard the name of the city, I didn't realize that they actually mean it. Thousand island lakes (千岛湖) is a manmade waterways that had split the city into thousand islands 🏝️ (although I didn't individually count though 😜). Our first day, was almost washed out because of heavy rain while on second day mother Nature was mercy on us and we biked our way to this hiking 🥾 point. It is actually an observatory on the top of the mountain from where you can see the lake & mountains. Sunset 🌄 is the best time to be there. It took nearly an hour to reach to the top, there are some shops on the way too where you can buy stuffs. The difficulty is easy and anyone can do this !! Eating the fish head, was never my favorite before I came to 千岛湖(Thousand islands lake) . But every restaurant that you visit in 千岛湖 totally recommend this 胖头鱼 which literally means fat fish head. Also this dish & fish amaze me that fish head also has lot of 肉 (meat) to eat. Along with that the spicy chicken (perfectly 65 days grown) was such a delicacy. Moreover you will also learn a new skill, on how to eat out of the shell. The process is you take a toothpick, and pick the meat out haha !
