Step back in time with a visit to Pollença
Welcome to the town of Pollença. You’ll see that I’ve already visited the Port de Pollença, but today I travel approximately 6km inland to see the town that gave the port it’s name. It’s charming, it’s cute and you’ll want to spend more than a day here exploring all of the nooks and crannies it has to offer!
As you look through the photos, you’ll see why this town has been listed as one of the most beautiful towns and villages to visit in Spain. It has a unique charm that doesn’t feel tainted by tourism in anyway. Make sure you climb the 365 steps that lead up to the Calvari church. Yes, you read that right - 365 steps - one for each day of the year!
The Calvari church was built between 1795-1799. And to reward you for the effort in climbing the steps, there is a cafe to one side of the church. Make sure you look back over the climb you’ve just accomplished and Marcel at the scenery all around.
This town also boasts the Pont Romano, or Roman Bridge, and you can discover that with me today.
Another one of the town’s defining features is the Convent and Cloister of Sant Domingo. The cloisters are also home to the Museum of Pollença and it even houses a collection of contemporary art which was free to enter.
Make sure you check out the Baroque cloister, famous for its four arched corridors. It was closed by time I got there, but I was able to take a sneak peek. It’s here that music concerts and festivals take place.
After a lot of walking and exploring, it was time to relax with a cold beer. I headed back to the bottom of the calvari steps to enjoy a bit of time in this outdoor bar.
Along the way, you’ll see many examples of the cute blonde stonework that make this town so popular with locals and tourists alike.
All in all, Pollença is a beautiful town, and is a must see whilst visiting Mallorca.

Puerto de Pollença. Does this popular beach town live up to its hype?
Mallorca has so much to offer. Although many people think of Mallorca as either a beach destination or a place to party (I.e. Magaluf), the reality couldn’t be more different! Yes, Mallorca offers those things. But it also has so much culture and history within it’s quaint villages and towns - and I’m on a mission to discover them!
I explored Port de Pollença, or Puerto Pollença. This town is the northernmost town on the island of Mallorca, but it will be well worth the effort in travelling here.
I took some time to explore the beautiful marina, and admired the stunning boats and yachts that are moored here. I also took some time to admire the breathtaking views of the Bay of Pollença. Here, you can enjoy some awe-inspiring views of the Tramuntana Mountain range along with the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. It really is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The Jurassic allure of Cap de Formentor
When many people think of Mallorca, what comes to mind? Sun, sea and booze loving Brits abroad? The truth is, Mallorca has so much more to offer than the stereotypical image that may come to mind. The natural beauty, history and culture on show is some of the best that Southern Europe has to offer.
On the north side of the island is the Tramuntana mountain range. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, the mountain range is the backbone of Mallorca - and the views along this mountain range are absolutely stunning.
At Cap de Formentor, you can visit the northernmost part of Mallorca, which is topped off by Far de Formentor - a Victorian lighthouse that graces the vistas. But one of the most beautiful points to visit whilst on the island of Mallorca is the Mirador de Es Colomer - as can be seen here. The Greens of the Mountains contrast perfectly with the turquoise blues of the Mediterranean Sea. It’ll leave you in awe and will surely be a highlight of your trip to Mallorca.

Spanish Island: Mallorca
Mallorca is located at the western end of the Mediterranean Sea and is the largest and most populous island in Spain's Balearic Islands. It lies southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, approximately 240 km from mainland Spain. The island enjoys a mild climate with distinct seasons—hot, dry summers and mild, humid winters—making it a famous European holiday destination.
✍️ Mallorca has a rich history dating back to prehistoric times. During the Roman Empire, the island gradually developed into an important Mediterranean trading center. In the Middle Ages, it was territory of the Muslim Moors until the 13th century, when James I of Aragon conquered Mallorca and incorporated it into his Christian kingdom.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, tourism began to flourish on the island, attracting many artists and writers such as George Sand and Frédéric Chopin. During the winter of 1838, the couple stayed at the Valldemossa Charterhouse to escape the cold. During this time, Chopin completed his "Raindrop Prelude," while George Sand wrote "A Winter in Mallorca."
🎬Main attractions: *Palma de Mallorca: The island's capital, featuring a spectacular Gothic cathedral (Catedral de Palma, image 6), the Royal Palace (Almudaina Palace), and a charming old town. *Port de Sóller (image 8): A picturesque port town surrounded by steep mountains and azure waters. *Formentor Cape (image 7): Located at the northernmost tip of the island, this is a narrow 20 km long peninsula affectionately called "the meeting point of winds" by locals.
✈️: Palma de Mallorca Airport is the main gateway to the island, offering direct flights to major European cities.
🛳️: Regular ferry services operate from mainland Spanish cities such as Barcelona and Valencia to Mallorca.
🥂Specialties and cuisine: Mallorcan olive oil: The island produces excellent quality olive oil, which is an important ingredient in local dishes; Mallorcan wine, especially red wine from several quality wine regions on the island is worth tasting; Additionally, locally cultivated pearls are a distinctive handicraft of the island.

Cala Figueira, a beautiful local village in Mallorca, Spain
#HongKongFlightEvent #2024WishEvent #Mallorca #MallorcaTravel #Spain #SpainTravel
This is the village where I stayed for half of my 10 days in Mallorca, Spain, and it is my favorite place in Mallorca✨💚
The name of this village is Cala Figuera!
Personally, it is a village that I liked more than Soller and Valldemossa
I encountered Koreans in Soller and Valldemossa,
but I didn't see a single one in Figuera, and it is also a local village
It is a 15-minute drive from Calo des Moro, the most famous beach in Mallorca, so I recommend planning a trip on the same day! There are no restaurants near Calo des Moro, so it would be nice to stop by for a swim and a meal at the beach
