As a cultural center, Dresden is known as Florence on the Elbe. The Saxon dynasty was ruled by the powerful August der Starke, and the territory he ruled became the largest in European history, with its Zwinger Palace, rich cultural heritage and splendid art and culture. The magnificent Zwinger Palace was also built during his time and currently houses a number of valuable works of art. The ceramic collection here is particularly noteworthy, as it houses porcelains that were coveted by European princes and nobles, including an astonishing number of porcelains imported from China and Japan. As a way of showing off wealth in the 18th century, Chinese and Japanese porcelain were hung on the most prominent walls of the palace for appreciation. There is also the famous Meissen ceramic crafts, which is said to be the largest in the world. It was a trip to Dresden, Germany with family. We began our day at Zwinger Palace, a stunning Baroque complex with fountains, gardens 🌺 and ornate architecture that’s perfect for morning light. The Semper Opera House next door offers an impressive façade worth capturing. Finally, make your way to the Frauenkirche, where the intricate details of the reconstructed dome are particularly enchanting at sunrise ⛅️ around 8:00 AM, when the crowds are minimal. Late morning or early afternoon, around ⛅️ 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, provides ideal lighting for vibrant, well-balanced photos 📸 Brühl’s Terrace 📍Georg-Treu-Platz 1, 01067 Dresden The Fürstenzug (Procession of Princes) is a 102-meter-long porcelain mural depicting Saxony’s rulers 😍We loved capturing its intricate details, and the afternoon light enhances the golden tones of the tiles. Afterward, take a walk along the Elbe Riverbanks, where you can photograph the city’s skyline from a distance. We found sunset (around 4:30 PM in winter) to be the best time for vibrant colors in the sky 🙌 Fürstenzug 📍Augustusstraße, 01067 Dresden Elbe Riverbanks 📍Königsufer, 01097 Dresden We also wandered through Dresden Neustadt in the evening, where the mix of old and new architecture creates a unique charm ✨ Don’t miss the Golden Horseman, a gilded statue of Augustus the Strong. It looks stunning under soft twilight or even illuminated after dark. For some vibrant night photography 📸 the streets of Neustadt offer colorful murals and lively scenes. #springitinerary This spring, I set out on a scenic long-distance journey through Germany, hopping between cities aboard the sleek and efficient Deutsche Bahn ICE trains. With a Eurail pass in hand and a flexible itinerary, I embraced the freedom to explore at my own pace – and it turned out to be the perfect blend of culture, comfort, and discovery. I began in Dresden, a city that stunned me with its beautifully restored baroque architecture and riverside charm. Walking through the historic Altstadt, visiting the Zwinger Palace, and marveling at the Frauenkirche felt like stepping back in time. From there, I boarded the ICE toward Erfurt, a lesser-known gem in Thuringia. The city's half-timbered houses and medieval bridges created a cozy, storybook atmosphere. Erfurt’s cathedral and the Krämerbrücke were highlights of a peaceful afternoon stroll. Next stop: Nuremberg. This vibrant city offers layers of history, from the towering castle and medieval walls to WWII landmarks and thought-provoking museums. I also enjoyed trying the famous Nürnberger sausages in the lively old town. What made this trip special wasn’t just the destinations, but the journey itself – smooth, punctual, and scenic. Gliding past blooming countryside, ancient towns, and wide rivers in a fast, comfortable train made this long road trip itinerary one to remember. Spring truly is the best season to see Germany come to life.

#EuropeanTravel Zwinger Palace, a must-see when touring Dresden! It was a shame that it was still under construction, but it was still fun to see the magnificent Baroque palace architecture and gorgeous statues. It is said that it was not actually used as a residence for kings, but was built for events such as exhibitions. It seems that even in modern times, it has become a space where you can enjoy beautiful architecture and art, such as planning classical performances inside!
