Zuiho Hall is a spiritual temple dedicated to Date Masamune, the lord of Sendai and the famous one-eyed dragon warrior. On July 10, Showa 20 (1945) at the end of the Pacific War, Sendai was severely damaged by the strategic bombing of the U.S. Air Force, and Zuiho Hall was also burned down in the Sendai air raid. At the same time, the Gansen Hall, where the second-generation lord Chungzong was enshrined, and the Sanyo Hall, where the third-generation lord Tsunazong was enshrined, were burned at the same time. The current Zuiho Hall was rebuilt in Showa 54 (1979). Before the construction, an excavation survey was carried out in the local area, and the remains and funerary objects of Date Masamune were discovered.
