Zhijin Grand Canyon | A secret realm comparable to Wulong Tiankeng.
A secret realm comparable to Wulong Tiankeng. 🎈Guizhou, a place full of mystery and charm, hides countless stunning natural landscapes. Today, I would like to recommend to you a treasure scenic spot - Zhijin Grand Canyon. Its skylights and tiankeng are densely covered, and the scenery is no less than that of Wulong Tiankeng in Chongqing.
🌍Wulong Tiankeng, also known as Tiansheng Sanqiao, is a world natural heritage and one of the famous karst landscapes in China. As the province with the largest karst area and richest landscapes in China, Guizhou has the Zhijin Grand Canyon as its shining pearl.
Zhijin Grand Canyon is located near Zhijin Cave. The entire canyon is 8 kilometers long and the development length is 3 kilometers. There are geological landscapes such as canyons, skylights, sinkholes, Tiansheng Bridge, underground rivers, and cliffs. It is known as "water on water, holes on holes, bridges on bridges, and the sky is outside the sky."
💧The Qijie River flowing in the canyon originates from Fenghuang Mountain in the southwest of Zhijin County. The river sometimes flows openly, sometimes dives underground, and finally merges into the Liuchong River, the northern source of the Wujiang River. The rock walls on both sides of the canyon are steep and the peaks are over 100 meters high.
🚠To make it easier for tourists to go up and down the canyon, the scenic spot has built a 108-meter-high sightseeing elevator on the cliff. It only takes 48 seconds to rise from the bottom to the top. It is the highest vertical elevator in southwest China and is known as the "First Elevator in the Southwest." Reaching the top of the canyon, you can overlook the magnificent scenery of the Grand Canyon.
🌈There are many overpasses and skylights in the canyon, the highest one is 150 meters. The sunlight shines through the skylight into the canyon, pouring down like a golden ribbon, making it quiet and empty. There is a Jingu Temple under the skylight, which reminds people of the Tianfuguanyi Station at the bottom of the Wulong Tiankeng. When the sun shines, the interior of the canyon is resplendent, hence the name "Golden Valley".
🕳️After walking out of the largest skylight, you can see a sinkhole with a depth of 215 meters. It is surrounded by vertical cliffs. The caves on the wall are densely covered like honeycombs. People in it are like sitting in a well and looking at the sky.
🐦The Swallow Cave deep in the canyon is home to hundreds of thousands of swallows. In the evening, swallows return to their nests and fly freely at the entrance of the cave, forming a beautiful scene of "ten thousand swallows returning to their nests".
💦There is also a waterfall landscape in the canyon. The undercurrent spurts out from the cliff to form a waterfall. The falling sound is like thunder, shaking the valley. The water hits the rocks and splashes countless crystal water droplets, like pearls dancing.
🎫The listed ticket price of Zhijin Canyon is higher, but you can buy Zhijin Grand Canyon ticket + sightseeing car + elevator package online for about 100 yuan. If you visit Zhijin Cave, you can also buy a package ticket for Zhijin Cave + Zhijin Canyon, which is very cost-effective. There is a sightseeing bus from Zhijin Cave to Zhijin Canyon. You can take the bus with a package or sightseeing ticket, and it only takes 10 minutes.
🛶There is also Hongyan Pier near Zhijin Cave and Zhijin Canyon, which is the wharf upstream of Wujiang Baili Gallery Scenic Area. You can take a boat trip here to visit the magnificent Wujiangyuan Gallery. In the off-season, there may be no buses from Zhijin Cave to Hongyan Pier, so you need to take a taxi or carpool. Self-driving tours are more convenient, and you can drive to visit nearby scenic spots such as the source of Wujiang River, the first bay of Wujiang River - Aohe River, the village on the back of the elephant - Yingshang Village, Zhijin Waterfall, Hongjiadu Reservoir and other attractions.
