The sweet scent of almond tea wafting from the corner belongs to Lao Cai Ji, a century-old shop renowned for its signature beverage. Ascending to the City God Temple, you can overlook the entire ancient street from between the vermilion-lacquered pillars. As dusk settles, lanterns illuminate one by one, transporting you back in time to a bustling marketplace. Heading west to the Confucian Temple, you'll find the first Zhuangyuan Bell of the Central Plains nestled among lush pines and cypresses. Striking the bell three times is said to bring good luck in imperial examinations. If you visit on the 1st or 15th day of the lunar month, you might encounter the vibrant temple fair and captivating Shehuo performances, where stilt walkers and land boats showcase the vitality of Central Plains folk customs. A highly recommended experience is to visit a teahouse on Dehua Street at dusk, savor a cup of Xinyang Maojian tea, and watch the setting sun gild the gray tiles while the melodious tunes of Erjiaxian opera drift through the air. In this moment, you'll truly grasp the thousand-year-old charm of the saying, "He who controls the Central Plains controls the world." This small village, spanning just three li, seamlessly blends Zhengzhou's vibrant street life with its rich history, inviting you to slow down and savor every moment.

Day 1: Check-in at the Sheraton Hotel (Zhengzhou 270 Wanda Zhengshang Yujianmingzhu Branch). 1. Fu Tower (Photo 3,6). The location is nice and we’ve arrived just on time at 18:00 (on time to catch the blue sky tower view and the night view). If you are there, I strongly recommend to buy ticket for the 101 floor! Food: Blue frog restaurant is really great in Zhengzhou, but this time it was closed due to the Spring Festoval Celebrations, so we went to the neighboring Mylk (Italian restaurant). It was AMAZING! Their pastas and pizza is really delicious. Try it! Day 2: 1. Zhengzhou Confucian Temple visit (Photo 4,5). It is nice, quiet and beautiful place. 2. City God Temple visit. It is located close to the previous one, so walk there (around 7 minutes) and enjoy the view! 3. Qianxi Plaza visit (Photo 1). It is great place to observe and to walk. The district is built in the circle, so it is bright and colorful. You can also take a ride on a ferry or drink a cup of warm coffee. Food: Have a lunch or dinner in the Erqi Square (Photo 2). The Chenghuang Temple in Zhengzhou is located at the north end of Zhigong Street on the east side of Shangcheng Road. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but it is estimated to have been built during the Tang and Song dynasties and reached its peak during the Ming dynasty. It was destroyed during the chaos at the end of the Ming dynasty and rebuilt during the Qing dynasty. It has been renovated many times since then, and the architectural complex has basically preserved its original historical appearance. The temple faces south and is rectangular in shape. The layout is compact and gradually rises. The central axis includes the main gate, ceremonial gate, theater building, main hall, and palace, covering a variety of architectural styles such as Xuan Mountain, Hard Mountain, and Song Mountain. With the help of courtyard space and changes in building volume, it presents the beauty of order and rhythm in ancient Chinese architecture. The Chenghuang Temple in Zhengzhou is an important example of Chenghuang Temple architecture and high-level ancient architecture in the northern region, and it is of great value for studying the local architectural technology and art in Henan during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

I came across Zhengzhou City God Temple by chance. From afar, you can see the green glazed tile buildings sparkling in the sun. I looked it up and found out that this color is called Mao Yue Blue. It is said to be the color of Xiaoman, one of the 24 solar terms, and can be regarded as one of the most beautiful colors of Zhengzhou's ancient buildings. It gives people a very elegant and distant taste, and a sense of freedom without worries or fears. Walking into the temple and taking a closer look, I found that this City God Temple is indeed extraordinary. As you can see, the main hall is majestic, with a total of three large gardens in depth, and it is a typical hip-and-gable style building. The most eye-catching thing is the blue-green glazed tile room that emits a distant blue-green light in the sun. The ridge decoration is also made of green glazed tiles, with large-snouted beasts on the ridge and a lion vase in the middle. Looking closely, the high and colorful brackets under the eaves look very solemn and luxurious. The entire building is covered with glazed tiles, with curved roofs and flying eaves, with exquisite shape and compact structure. The biggest attraction is the carvings inside and outside the hall. There are dragons and phoenixes carved on the front roof, with lotus flowers and lions beside them. The patterns are exquisite and the carvings are meticulous. Carved dragons, phoenixes, and peonies can be seen on both sides of the hall; The hall is engraved with "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" as well as verdant pines and cypresses, figures, birds and animals, with beautiful composition. It turns out that this temple was built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 600 years. It is actually the largest and most complete existing ancient building complex from the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Zhengzhou city. Although the courtyard does not cover a large area, its beauty lies in its bright colors and exquisiteness. Whether it is the architectural style or the paint, paintings and carved decorations, it is really worth seeing. To appreciate a city, one must not only look up at its modern skyscrapers, but also look down at its history that has been accumulated over the years.
