Zhangjiao Village is located in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. The village is full of houses made of stone. Because there is a large camphor tree in the village with an age of more than 700 years, people climb on the tree and overlook, the village is like at the foot, hence the name of Zhangjiao Village. On the hillside, the "stone houses" are stacked up and down, and the "stone houses" are connected end to end, just like an ancient castle. Walking into this group of houses made of stones, the heavy sense of history fills the air. The stone pebbles on the wall are all iron-red weathered stones. When building a house, it is based on the mountain, and the layout is not paid attention to. Many people have to go up several stone steps from this room to that room in the same house. Between households, there are stone pebble steps connected. Generally, the houses are built with stone to the top, and some are built with adobe. These houses have one thing in common, that is, the windows are few and small, which is said to be considered from the perspective of anti-theft. In the same house, even a narrow open-air lane or a small patio must be left between the front room and the back room, in order to facilitate ventilation and lighting.
