Beautiful Little Village and Scenic Area ❤️
Yunshe scenic area is a short 5km drive out of jiangkou and is a real beauty to wake up and do in the morning.
I was there for 8am on a Tuesday and had the entire place to myself for most of the morning.
Walk around taking beautiful pictures and feeling very peaceful - what more can you ask for?
The locals will be busy fishing, washing clothes or rinsing their vegetables in the river and you can just meander around the streets and stop for breakfast when you’re ready.
Loved this place!

Introduction to Yun She Scenic Area: Encounter Tujia culture and enjoy a feast of mountains and rivers.
Yun She Scenic Area is located in Taiping Town, Jiangkou County, Tongren City, Guizhou Province. It is a tourist destination full of natural beauty and Tujia culture. Yun She Village is located on the banks of the Taiping River, a scenic area at the provincial level. It is 13 kilometers away from Fanjingshan and 5 to 7 kilometers away from Jiangkou County. Transportation is convenient. Yun She Village has a history of six or seven hundred years and is one of the five minority villages built by the Guizhou Provincial Government. It is also a historical and cultural village in China and is known as the "First Tujia Village in China". Yun She Village is surrounded by lush green mountains and is surrounded by green water. The water systems such as Shenlongtan, Longtan River, Shuijingwan, and Taiping River pass through the village.
Yun She, a place that makes people yearn just by hearing its name. Located in Taiping Town, Jiangkou County, Tongren City, Guizhou Province, it is like a paradise on earth, waiting for every traveler who loves nature and culture to explore. Today, let's walk into this mysterious land surrounded by mountains and rivers and immersed in Tujia culture, and experience its unique charm and appeal.
Yun She, as its name suggests, is like a village above the clouds, shedding the hustle and bustle of the world and enjoying a piece of tranquility and beauty. As soon as you step into this land, you will be amazed by the scenery before you. The surrounding mountains are as green as ink, and the clouds are swirling, like a flowing landscape painting. In the village, green water flows around, and water systems such as Shenlongtan, Longtan River, and Shuijingwan pass through the village, adding endless vitality to this land.
Walking on the bluestone road of Yun She, you will feel a different kind of tranquility. The houses here are mostly wooden structures, with small blue tiles and lattice windows, which are full of ancient charm, as if you have traveled back to that distant era. Especially those bucket houses, as the most distinctive Tujia ancient buildings in Yun She, are even more amazing. They have walls on all sides, are square in shape, high in the north and low in the south, with the main house above and the building below. The window bars and window lattices are mostly hollowed-out wood carvings, and every detail reveals the wisdom and ingenuity of the Tujia people.
Yun She not only has charming natural scenery, but also has a profound Tujia cultural heritage. Here, you can personally experience the traditional festivals, folk activities, and handicrafts of the Tujia people, and feel the unique Tujia style.
Walking into Yun She's Cultural Square, you will see three buildings on the north side, which represent the development and evolution of Tujia folk houses. From wooden structures to earthen and wooden structures, and then to brick and wooden structures, each architectural form carries the history and memory of the Tujia people in Yun She. Here, you can learn about the construction techniques, material selection, and living habits of Tujia folk houses, and experience the unique charm of Tujia culture.
Shenlongtan is a landmark attraction in Yun She. Its water is clear and deep, and it is a barometer for predicting the weather in Yun She. It is said that the water level of Shenlongtan is closely related to the weather, so the people of Yun She often predict the weather by observing the water level of Shenlongtan. This traditional custom is still in use today. Standing by Shenlongtan, you will feel a mysterious force, as if you can really communicate with nature.
Of course, when you come to Yun She, how can you not experience the ancient papermaking technique? Yun She Tujia villagers built workshops along the Longtan River, using local bamboo and other raw materials, and after more than 30 processes, it takes about half a year to produce the paper used for sacrifices or writing. This traditional craft has accompanied Yun She Village for more than 300 years and is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Tujia people in Yun She. In the workshop, you can see the whole process of papermaking with your own eyes and experience the ancient and mysterious technique.
In addition to ancient papermaking, Yun She also has a unique folk activity - Tujia wedding. In Yun She's Nostalgia Museum, you can learn about the Tujia wedding customs through the exhibition of three parts: love and marriage customs, wedding, and crying marriage. Tujia weddings showcase the enthusiasm and hospitality of the Tujia people with their unique ceremonies and procedures, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of Tujia cultural traditions.
When you come to Yun She, how can you not taste the authentic Tujia cuisine? Yun She's Tujia cuisine attracts countless gourmets with its unique taste and production process.
The first recommendation is, of course, Tujia smoked meat. Tujia smoked meat is made from pork, which is specially marinated and smoked. The meat is tender and flavorful, leaving a lingering aftertaste. In Yun She's restaurants, you can taste various dishes made with Tujia smoked meat, such as Tujia smoked meat with garlic sprouts, Tujia smoked meat stewed with tofu, etc. Every dish is delicious.
Yun She's glutinous rice cake is also a must-try delicacy. Glutinous rice cake is made from glutinous rice, which is steamed, mashed, kneaded, etc. It is soft and sweet. On the streets of Yun She, you can see vendors selling glutinous rice cakes, who warmly greet passing tourists, allowing you to taste this authentic Tujia delicacy.
Yun She has much more than just these delicacies. There are also Tujia sour soup fish, Tujia cured meat, Tujia glutinous rice wine, etc. Each delicacy carries the enthusiasm and hospitality of the Tujia people in Yun She, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of Tujia cultural traditions.
Walking into Yun She, you are like walking into a dream. The mountains and rivers, buildings, culture, and cuisine here make people linger. Here, you can temporarily forget the troubles of the world, let go of your worries, and let your soul be completely cleansed.
The beauty of Yun She lies not only in its natural scenery and Tujia culture, but also in its tranquility and harmony. Guizhou Tourism | Off-the-Beaten-Path Attractions | The Cloud House Scenic Area, a haven like a paradise on earth
|Off-the-Beaten-Path Attractions| The Cloud House Scenic Area is nestled in the mysterious embrace of Fanjing Mountain, adjacent to the picturesque Taiping River. This place is only 1.5 kilometers away from Jiangkou county town and 10 kilometers away from the south gate of Fanjing Mountain. Stepping into the scenic area, the first thing that catches your eye is the wooden walkway that seems to be suspended above the water surface, floating lightly on the clear river, dreamlike and illusory. The ancient waterwheel stands quietly on the bank of the Shenlong River, as if silently telling the tales of a thousand years of history and vicissitudes. The crystal-clear river water bypasses the simple Tujia village, creating a world-famous short river that outlines the unique landscape profile of the Cloud House Scenic Area.

Departing from Changsha on holidays to escape the crowd and knock on the less-traveled routes
Departing from Changsha by car🚗❗️ On holidays, to escape the crowd and find less popular routes||| A less-traveled self-driving🚗 route that has been tested by the last National Day
⚠️⚠️ This route is only suitable for those who don't like crowded scenic spots, don't want to waste holidays, and want to go out to see the scenery
Changsha-Yunsheshan Village-Zhaishadongzhai-Biancheng-Jishou-Loudi Meijiang-Changsha
The scenery along the way is great and there are few people (except for Biancheng, which has more people, but it's completely ok if you don't take the lala ferry, just that it's crowded)
✨Yunsheshan Village✨
The first Tujia village in China, located at the foot of Fanjing Mountain (you need to make a reservation in advance to go to Fanjing Mountain, there are quite a few people, I personally skipped it, not liking crowds). The village is not big, the scenery is pretty, with clear mountains and waters. Inside there is a Shenlong Pool with emerald green water, and there is an observation deck on the mountain next to it🉑 overlooking the village
✨Zhaishadongzhai✨
It's near Yunsheshan Village, it's suggested to go for a casual stroll in the evening. The newly built Dong village is quite commercialized, and there is a bonfire party in the evening, which has a good atmosphere
✨Biancheng✨
Biancheng from Shen Congwen's writings, not too few people during holidays, but still acceptable. The most fun part is that you can locate three places at once: Chongqing, Guizhou, and Hunan
The city is full of travel photography, those who like to take pictures can try it. The food prices are reasonable, the 2 yuan lala ferry is the most crowded place in the city (I personally recommend the 20+💰 cruise boat more)
Didn't do much in Jishou, just a place for a mid-way rest, had a delicious and cheap barbecue, and casually strolled around the city district
✨Loudi Meijiang✨
Originally wanted to see the Ziquejie terraces, bought tickets and went up, but it was all foggy, so I left. Then came to Meijiang, really chao surprise. I had posted notes about this place before, almost a thousand likes now, really worth it! The scenery is beautiful and special, not many people, it's already on my list to visit again🧾
Had a lot of fun along the way, also ate chao delicious Guizhou beef, Jishou barbecue, and with the right person, anywhere is good

Yun She Village - The Wind and Rain Bridge on the Taiping River
When people get to Tongren, they all know to go to Fanjing Mountain, but they don't know that there is a 'First Tujia Village in China' hidden at the foot of Fanjing Mountain - Yun She Village. It is said that this is a place where immortals once lived. In fact, 'Yun She' is Tujia language, and its real meaning is 'the place where monkeys drink water'.
Yun She Village is located on the eastern slope of Fanjing Mountain, on the bank of the Taiping River and upstream of the Jinjiang River, backed by Cen Mang Slope and facing Ba Yuan Slope. The Wind and Rain Bridge was the entrance to the ancient village, spanning the Taiping River at the entrance of the village. The villagers live together, and two rivers run through the village. The blue stone alleys in the village connect the whole village. The Wind and Rain Bridge has become the most beautiful scenery on the Taiping River and also the blessing bridge for the villagers of Yun She Village.

Treasure Village at the foot of Fanjing Mountain | Yunshen Village
There is a treasure village at the foot of Fanjing Mountain: the first village of the Tujia ethnic group in China - Yunshen Village; it is quiet and beautiful here, not asking about the world; it only takes twenty minutes by car from Fanjing Mountain.
Yunshen Village, the village name comes from the Tujia language, meaning 'the place where monkeys drink water' is located in the Taiping River scenic area of Fanjing Mountain; Yunshen Village is located on the bank of the Taiping River, in the karst topography of the mountain river valley, belonging to the subtropical monsoon humid climate; there are Shenlongtan in the village and Taiping River outside, two rivers run through the village; Shenlongtan in the village also has a special function: it can predict the weather by the rise and fall of the water level; there is also a non-material cultural heritage in the village - ancient papermaking, (I was lucky to meet the old people in the village making it on the spot) therefore Yunshen Village is known as 'China's
First Tujia Village'
Here the folk customs are simple, there are many farmhouses and famous houses in the village that can provide food and accommodation, all of which are local farm dishes with very distinctive features! The vegetables we ate were all picked by the boss's wife from the field; there are also some local specialty snacks on both sides of the village road; there is no commercial atmosphere here, walking on the bluestone road, you can also see groups of ducks and geese in the river and villagers washing clothes and vegetables by the Longtan River, forming a beautiful picture of rural life; in the evening, there are Tujia crying marriage performances in the Nostalgia Museum, where you can watch and experience the local culture, when I went there, I happened to meet the Nostalgia column group to shoot; after the show, there is also a bonfire party~
