On the top you might see a beatifull landscape, but the pollution of the Shandong province is terrible and the fog will limited your look on the city. Not so tough to climb, as they have locals regularly visiting the mountain. The character in the top of the mountain symbolizes that as a human we are very small. Yunmen Mountain is located in Qingzhou, Shandong Province. It is known as the first mountain of longevity in China. The largest cliff carving of the Chinese character "寿" (longevity) has a history of more than 400 years, and the phrase "寿比南山" (longevity as long as the southern mountain) originated from here. The main attractions include Yunmen Xianshou (landmark), Wanchun Cave, Wangshou Pavilion, the main peak, grotto statues, Tianxian Nvyu Temple, Yunmen Cave, etc. The mountain is 421 meters above sea level, and it takes about an hour to visit. Tickets: CNY 60 in peak season, CNY 50 in off-season, with discounts available on major apps. Seniors over 60, children under 1.4 meters or under 6 years old, disabled people, and active/retired military personnel can enjoy free or discounted tickets with valid ID. Parking is free, but be sure to navigate to the parking lot at the ticket office, as it is quite far from the foot of the mountain.

After turning up from the steps, you directly arrive at the stone tablet of Yunmen Wonderland. A sense of celestial aura greets you 😎 . At the end of the path ahead, there is a stone tablet inscribed with 'Longevity as the Southern Mountain'. From here, you can also see the pavilion in the distance. It seems you can pass through from the path below, but I chose to climb directly up the steep steps, so I had to give up on that for now 🧐 . Afterwards, you need to continue exploring in the opposite direction, which is on the other side of Yunmen Wonderland. There is a palace called the Three Emperors Hall, which is also quite impressive 🙇 . Then, further ahead, there is a stone gate. Below it, there is a place called Tianchi. It is called Tianchi not because there is water inside, but because the words 'Tianchi' are actually carved inside the pit 😓 . After passing Tianchi, you encounter two buildings: the Temple of the Celestial Maiden and the Jade Emperor Hall. . One of these buildings has stone walls, and the other has wooden doors. Although both look beautiful, I still feel that the stone-walled one has more texture 🧐 . Finally, there is the stone tablet marking the summit of Yunmen Mountain, which is definitely not to be missed 😁 . But if you want to talk about beautiful scenery, it has to be the view of the distant peaks from the stone railing 😎

After gradually entering the beautiful scenery, the climbing road ahead feels increasingly hot, but I still have to persist in climbing. 🙎 . On the way, I passed a place called Couple Tree, thinking about what is different here. It seems that two trees have grown together. 🧐 . Then I went up to a place called Luoshui Cave Ruins to check in. However, there is no water here; otherwise, it would look better. 🙇 . After coming up from the Luoshui Pool Ruins, there is also a Suo Lao Wo Rock here. It is said that this is the place where the Snow Suo Taoist avoids the rain. 🧐 . Continuing upwards, I encountered another rock wall with the words 'Respect the gods as gods' engraved on it. It is very eye-catching. 🙇 . Going further up, I reached an open area with several pools. I randomly chose one to check in. 😁

The "cun" character under the "shou" alone is 2.3 meters high. Locally, there is a saying "people are not as tall as a cun". Many tourists wish to visit and pay respects to this large "shou" character. - Wangshou Pavilion: Located halfway up Beiji Mountain, it consists of the main pavilion, east and west wing rooms, and a hanging flower gate. Standing in the pavilion, looking up at the southern mountain, you can just see the "shou" character on Qingzhou Yunmen Mountain. - Tianxian Yunu Temple: Located at the top of the mountain, it is a stone beamless structure with a unique design, magnificent and splendid. This scene is called 'Yunmen' or 'Yunmen Wonderland,' and it is one of the eight ancient scenes of Qingzhou, known as 'Yunmen Gongbi.' Yunmen Mountain is named after this scene. On the shaded stone wall of the mountain, there is the largest ancient cliff carving in China, 'Shou' (Longevity). This character is dignified and elegant, with a rigorous structure. It is 7.5 meters high and 3.7 meters wide, with the height of each stroke reaching 2.30 meters. It is considered a masterpiece of its time and the largest 'Shou' character in the world. This 'Shou' was inscribed by Zhou Quan, the head of the Hengwang Mansion, on the ninth day of the ninth month in the thirty-ninth year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, symbolizing 'longevity as enduring as the southern mountains.' Passing through the Yunmen Cave, you will reach the Buddhist holy site, the Yunmen Mountain Grottoes. On the sunny slope of Yunmen Mountain, there are five stone grottoes lined up, with 272 stone Buddha statues. The cliff walls beside the grottoes are covered with inscriptions by famous people from various dynasties, making Yunmen Mountain itself a beautiful historical scroll. The three seal characters 'Yunmen Mountain' above the Yunmen Cave vividly reflect the artistic conception of the Yunmen Wonderland. Yunmen Mountain, located 2.5 kilometers south of Qingzhou city, is adjacent to Camel Mountain and connected with Fan Gong Pavilion at the mountain's base. At that time, white clouds soar into the sky, rising gently through Yunmen Cave, circulating back and forth, resembling rolling clouds lifting the temple at the mountain's peak into the clouds, thus it is known as 'Yunmen's Fairyland'. The story 'Li Daoren Walks Alone Through Yunmen' from the famous Ming Dynasty work 'Awakening the World Hengyan' by Feng Menglong, refers to Yunmen Mountain's Yunmen Cave. The second auspicious omen: the rare Ming Dynasty cliff stone carving of the character 'Shou' (longevity), known as 'Yunmen's Presentation of Longevity'. The 'Shou' character is located at the summit facing north from the south, carved during the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty by Prince Heng Zhu Daigui to wish for longevity, meaning 'longevity as enduring as the Southern Mountain'. The 'Shou' character is 7.5 meters tall, with the 'inch' character on the lower right reaching 2.23 meters, and the phrase 'man is not as tall as an inch' originates from this. Visitors climbing Yunmen Mountain, worshiping the 'Shou' character, and taking photos with it, as the most beautiful blessing for themselves and their families. The auspicious light of the 'Shou' character extends to the surrounding area, which was later named: Shouguang, now Shouguang city. Cliffs and precipices throughout the mountain are covered with inscriptions and steles by literati from various dynasties, such as the 'God is Present' stone carving by the Ming Dynasty's Xuesuo, meaning: revere the gods as if they are present. The mountain is home to many Taoist and Buddhist temples, pavilions, and towers, and today's Yunmen Mountain is a 5A-rated scenic area, the top choice for touring Qingzhou.
