#TravelChat When I saw other people going there, it was so beautiful. I wanted to go so bad. Where was it? A mountain with so much snow and so tall? It was so beautiful. I wanted to go. But when the day came to actually go up, I was so nervous because of the heavy snow, strong winds, and intermittent cable car closures. But in the end, I was able to go up to the viewpoint at almost 5,000 meters. It was so high. It was completely covered in white snow. The wind and snow blew in my face, making me hurt and cold. I could call myself a disaster victim. But there were times when everything stopped, and everyone was rushing to take photos. It was so much fun. I loved the view from the cable car ride up. It was so beautiful. But from the viewpoint at the top, you couldn't see anything. It was all white. I'd recommend getting ready for the cold and wind. Sandbags are a great help. Traveling with kids during summer vacation Actually, I was quite afraid of the crowded Old Town, so I chose a place inside the Old Town that is peaceful amidst the hustle and bustle, with convenient transportation and attentive butler service. China is now visa-free, everyone! 🇨🇳 After I posted, my DMs exploded with requests for a review. I'll share the details later today. Kunming-Lijiang-Shangri-La First, we went on our own, not with a tour. The Chinese didn't speak English at all, literally none at all. We used Translate and body language, and they tried their best to understand us. Don't be afraid. First, we flew to Kunming. Day 1: Flight 8:20 PM, arriving in Kunming at 11:00 PM. We rested. Day 2: We explored Kunming, staying to adjust to the altitude. The mountain we were going to is 5,596 meters above sea level. The gradual ascent will help your body get used to it. Day 3: We took the high-speed train from Kunming to Lijiang (4 hours). Day 4: We chartered a car with a driver to Tiger Leaping Gorge (the driver was Chinese and didn't speak English). (We talked through WeChat.) Day 5: We traveled to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, which is 5,596 meters high. We only reached 4,680 meters above sea level. We booked a one-day trip with the same Chinese driver, as usual, through WeChat. We booked with Melomon Home. We gradually climbed higher, taking a bus and then a cable car to the summit, then a short hike. At this point, we used canned oxygen, and the air was very thin, making it difficult to breathe. We had to walk and move slowly. (Bringing chocolate with you helped a lot.) The normal altitude for humans is approximately 2,600 meters (Doi Inthanon). Above that, you're at risk of altitude sickness. I'd like everyone to be fully prepared, as it doesn't happen to everyone. Some people who exercise a lot can get it. When we went, we had trouble breathing, and our heart was racing at night because our bodies hadn't adjusted yet. **We consulted a doctor about altitude sickness before the trip and took Hong Jin Tian herbal medicine. A friend on our trip developed symptoms of high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) even before reaching the summit. The symptoms developed at approximately 3,200 meters and we returned to our hotel to rest. After returning from the summit, my friends took me to the hospital in Lijiang, where they diagnosed me with pulmonary edema, which was incredibly scary. **(I spent two nights in China and am now back in Thailand to continue my follow-up. I'm currently safe.) We were in China for eight days, but after the accident, my plans changed, so I won't go into details. The trip, which included flights, accommodations, a one-day guide, and food, came to approximately 25,000++ baht (without shopping), which is incredibly cheap considering the breathtaking views. Anyone who thinks they're physically ready should definitely go. It's truly beautiful! 🥹🥹🥹 **This doesn't happen to everyone, but you should be aware and prepare accordingly. A must-have app for traveling in China: ⚫️ Trip.com: Use it to book accommodations and high-speed rail. It's very comprehensive, convenient, and fast. ⚫️ Alipay: Link to Youtrip and top up in baht. Deducting money in Yuan is super convenient. You can also use it to call a taxi, take the bus, and the subway all in one app. It's awesome! ⚫️ iPhone Maps or Buidu are probably the most accurate route-finding apps. ⚫️ WeChat is for chatting with Chinese people. The app will translate into Thai for you, so it's like you're speaking the same language. It's super convenient! Plus, you can use it to pay and translate at restaurants. ⚫️ I recommend enabling roaming for SIM cards. Using a Chinese SIM card will make it impossible to use Line, Facebook, or Instagram. Overall, I've been using just these apps and everything is convenient and not as difficult as I thought. China is wonderful. The people are truly lovely.
