I definitely recommend to walk the Great Wall at Jinshanling. Start at the East entrance and walk towards the main entrance. Yes it is not an easy walk but defenitely worth it! I experienced the Great Wall walk more as a Great Steps walk BTW 😉 Wear solid shoes! We started at 16:00 and walked towards the west, the Sun went down at 19:00. Sunset is amazing and walking this moment of the day makes you feel a unique person on the Wall!

Especially in April and May, when wildflowers bloom across the mountains, it's an ideal choice for a spring hike. It's also a photographer's paradise. The Jinshanling great wall was a wonderful experience. we went during spring and the mountains were dotted with the white blossoming trees. The rugged mountain surface combined with the good weather and the atmosphere of the people was amazing. we took bus N08. this dropped us off right at the tourist office. The bus only contained 10 people, but when we arrived it was packed with Chinese tourists. They all come to hike, picknick or just enjoy the views as well. it was busy, but not too busy. entrance ticket it 65Yuan, which is a bit more than other parts of the wall. bus was 50rmb 1 way.

During Chinese New Year, our family embarked on an unforgettable journey to the Jingshanling section of the Great Wall of China. Known for its stunning views and relatively fewer crowds, Jingshanling offered the perfect balance of adventure and accessibility for our family of five, including our three energetic kids. The drive from Beijing took about two and a half hours, and the excitement in the car was palpable. As we approached the Jingshanling area, the rolling hills and ancient watchtowers came into view, setting the stage for what would be an incredible day. We started our hike early in the morning, hoping to cover as much of the wall as possible. Our youngest was initially a bit hesitant about the steep steps, but her curiosity quickly took over. The Jingshanling section is known for its well-preserved but rugged terrain, which made the hike both challenging and rewarding. We took our time, stopping frequently to admire the breathtaking views and snap photos of the wall snaking its way across the mountains. One of the highlights of the hike was reaching one of the many watchtowers along the way. The kids loved imagining what life must have been like for the soldiers who once stood guard there. The Jingshanling section is less crowded than other parts of the Great Wall, which made the experience even more special. We often found ourselves alone on the wall, surrounded by the vast landscape. ✨Hotel Highlights- We got to participate in free daily activities such as painting and crafts which were amazing. We got to see the Great Wall from our rooms every day, visit it and hike up to it (although the hiking trail does not lead onto the Wall itself). The hotel hot springs are also amazing and make sure to book your slot at least a day in advance. ♨️Amenities- They provide all bathroom amenities you could require and when we needed cutlery etc. they happily and speedily provided them. 🛁Room Environment- the rooms are gorgeous and spacious although one room does not have a cupboard. 🍽️Breakfast- Breakfast was delicious with a variety of foods. At first we received delicious individual breakfast (due to less visitors in Chinese NY) and our last day we experienced their delectable buffet. 🛎️Hotel Service- Excellent service! Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful although English is limited. 💗Guest Experience- We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would happily go again. 📍Location:Very close to the both the 金山岭Jinshanling and 司马台Simatai Great Wall and transport is provided.
