The layers of soil are not all a single yellow color; they change to red, purple, white, and gray depending on the light. Due to the dense distribution of minerals such as mica and quartz on the earth pillars, they can also reflect brilliant light under the sun, making them even more peculiar. The scenery outside the window changed from the blue of Cangshan and Erhai Lake to the vastness of red earth hills.
