In a month, this place in Tokyo will be full of cherry blossoms
🙆♂️Maybe it's because I've watched too many anime, but the cherry blossom season is always the season I look forward to the most🥹 This year, due to the weather, the cherry blossoms will bloom later than usual, and are expected to bloom in large numbers in mid-to-late March. After visiting many times, besides the popular hot spots that have already bloomed, here are some places I recommend. All of them are accessible by subway, and are secret spots with cherry blossoms lining the streets.
🚃Transportation + Features + Photo Spots + Tips
📍Kawazu Cherry Blossoms⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: The same filming location as the Japanese drama "First Love," with cherry blossom trees stretching for nearly 5 km along the river, which is truly stunning. The petals are also very large, making it easier to take close-up shots compared to other places.
📷Photo Spots: It is recommended to walk counterclockwise along both sides of the riverbank to avoid the crowds and take photos freely.
🚇Transportation: Take the JR Izu Kyuko Line, which is a special cherry blossom train. Remember to book a seat on the left side (A) to enjoy a 10-minute coastal view, which is super beautiful.
📍JR Nishi-Hachioji Station⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: Both sides of the entire riverbank are lined with cherry blossom trees, which is very spectacular. There are also very few people, mostly locals jogging, so you can take photos freely.
📷Photo Spots: Every day at 14:10/16:25, two Chuo Line limited express trains will roar through the cherry blossom tunnel (arrive 20 minutes early to get a spot).
🚇Transportation: Exit the north exit of JR Chuo Line "Nishi-Hachioji Station," cross the overpass to "Oiwakecho Pedestrian Bridge."
📍Tokyo Skytree⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: A popular postcard location, with the world's tallest tower and cherry blossoms in the same frame. Many people like to take photos of the night cherry blossoms here, but I prefer to take photos on sunny days, which are more beautiful.
🚇Transportation: Take the Asakusa Line to "Oshiage Station" and exit at B3/ Take the Tobu Skytree Line directly.
📷Photo Spots: From 18:00 to 21:00, the Skytree will light up with cherry blossom pink lights! It is recommended to walk to Azumabashi Bridge to take photos of the river cherry blossoms and the double tower reflection.
🌚Tips: Be sure to come on a sunny day, as it looks really ugly on a cloudy day.
📍Shinjuku Gyoen⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: An urban garden with more than 70 kinds of cherry blossoms blooming in succession, with a flowering period of up to 1 month, so you won't miss it.
🚇Transportation: Take the Marunouchi Line to "Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station" and exit at Exit 1/ Walk 10 minutes from the south exit of JR "Shinjuku Station."
📷Photo Spots: Use a wide-angle lens to capture the lawn, cherry blossoms, and Shinjuku skyscrapers in the same frame in the garden area.
🌚Tips: There will be a lot of people after 11:00.
📍Yoyogi Park⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: Many local young people come here for picnics and cherry blossom viewing. It is also a filming location for many anime. There is a cherry blossom market every weekend, which I have attended once, and it is really lively.
🚇Transportation: Take the Chiyoda Line to "Yoyogi-Koen Station" and exit at Exit 4/ Walk 7 minutes from the Omotesando exit of JR "Harajuku Station."
