Youbu Ancient Town | A Thousand-Year-Old Commercial Port
| A Thousand-Year-Old Commercial Port
🎇 Today, I'm going to share a beautiful, lesser-known ancient town with you—Youbu Ancient Town 🎉!
🌊 [Jiangnan Water Town with Ancient Charm]
Youbu Ancient Town is located in the southwestern suburbs of Lanxi, Jinhua, Zhejiang, and is one of the four ancient towns in Zhejiang. The town is full of white walls and black tiles, flying eaves and upturned corners, and small bridges and flowing water, like a vivid ink painting full of the charm of Jiangnan water towns. The ancient town is surrounded by water, with crisscrossing rivers. You can take a small boat to experience the tranquility and harmony, as if time has slowed down 🛶.
☕ [The First Morning Tea Street in Jiangnan]
Youbu Ancient Town is most famous for its morning tea! With a morning tea culture of over 1,300 years, it is known as "the first morning tea street in Jiangnan." In the early morning, before the sun rises, the long street is full of life. Long wooden tables are placed in front of the teahouses, and residents and tourists come to brew a pot of tea and order delicious snacks such as chicken cakes, meat dumplings, and crispy cakes, enjoying a leisurely time. Here, you can taste the most authentic Jiangnan morning tea and feel the strong atmosphere of life 🍜.
🌉 [Five Horses Returning to the Stable, the Legend of the Ancient Bridge]
The Yongji Bridge, Yongfu Bridge, Yong'an Bridge, Taiping Bridge, and Liaoxi Bridge across Youbu Creek are collectively known as the "Five Horses Returning to the Stable." They are magnificent and exquisitely crafted, and are a unique sight in Jiangnan! Each bridge has its own unique history and legend. For example, it is said that when Zhu Yuanzhang was a child, he lay on the Taiping Bridge while begging for food, and his body formed the characters "Tian" and "Zi," symbolizing good fortune. The Yongfu Bridge was built by a widow named Xia with her life's savings, and her good deeds brought blessings to future generations. Walking on the ancient bridge, you can feel the prosperity and vicissitudes of the ancient town 🚶.
🚗 [Convenient Transportation, Easy to Reach]
From Hangzhou, it takes about 2.5 hours by car or about 1 hour by train and taxi to reach Youbu Ancient Town. The transportation is very convenient. Moreover, the ancient town does not require an entrance fee, making it a great value!
💕 Experience the unique charm of this thousand-year-old ancient town, and enjoy the poetic and picturesque scenery and lively atmosphere of Jiangnan water towns. I'm sure you'll fall in love with Youbu Ancient Town! 💖

Free travel in Quzhou!
Free travel in Quzhou! The first weekend of free travel in Quzhou (November 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, excluding the Spring Festival holiday) is coming. Quzhou is a fun place with delicious food. Highly recommended. You can make a reservation at the entrance of the scenic spot, which is very convenient!
Day 1: Jinhua Lanxi · Youbu Ancient Town → Quzhou Longyou · Longyou Grottoes
Youbu Ancient Town is about ten kilometers away from Longyou. You must go and see it! At first, I thought it was on the way, but after seeing it, I was amazed at how great the ancients were!
Day 2: Quzhou Jiangshan · Qingyang Mao's Cultural Village → Fugai Mountain → Nianbadu Ancient Town
If you have enough time, you can visit Fugai Mountain and Nianbadu Ancient Town together, and then visit Jianglang Mountain and Qingyang Mao's Cultural Village (close to each other) on the third day. Because of the tight schedule, I visited three scenic spots in one day and didn't have time to visit Nianbadu during the day. The exploration route of Fugai Mountain is super fun for children. They actively explored the whole journey for three hours and urged us adults to walk faster. Be sure to pay attention to safety during the adventure!
Day 3: Quzhou Jiangshan · Jianglang Mountain → Return
Tickets for Jianglang Mountain Scenic Area are free, and the shuttle bus costs CNY 15 per person (round trip). Walk up and down the Eighteen Bends to the foot of the mountain. The whole journey takes four hours. At Xiake Pavilion, you can see the whole view of the Three Stones at close range. The Three Stones and Yixiantian are in two directions. You can go to see the Three Stones first, and then go back to Yixiantian. Huixian Rock, Three Stones, and Yixiantian are the most worth seeing in my opinion!

I declare that Zhejiang people also have their own dim sum kingdom.
The ancient town of Youbu is full of life in the early morning, with old people drinking morning tea, playing cards, chess, or chatting in groups. The morning tea here has a unique flavor.
The Youbu Morning Tea Street, which has a history of more than 1,300 years, has attracted many food lovers to come here to taste the local delicacies.
📍Detailed address:
Youbu Ancient Town is free to visit
Route: Search for "Youbu Ancient Town Parking Lot" on the navigation
Parking: There are two small parking lots outside the ancient town. If you arrive late, you can park on the side of the road.
Time: The morning tea street is now open all day, so you don't have to worry if you arrive late.
❤Recommended food:
Youbu Soy Milk: You must have a bowl of soy milk, which is available in both sweet and savory flavors.
Sesame Seed Cake and Youtiao: A sesame seed cake with youtiao, a classic pairing with soy milk.
Meat Sink: Egg yolk stuffed with minced meat, said to be made by mothers-in-law for their sons-in-law.
Chicken Egg Cake: Deep-fried, recommended with green onion filling for those who like onions.
Tofu Tangyuan: Tangyuan made with tofu, minced meat, and flour, which tastes more like tofu.
Qing Dynasty Wontons: Smaller than the usual small wontons, it's interesting to watch the owner make them. After putting the wontons in the pot, he covers the water with a small pot lid and turns it twice before taking them out.
Guanxiu Su Cake: I bought one to try next to Guanxiu Ancestral Hall, but I didn't think it was very good.
❤Recommended reasons:
Antique Camera Museum: A very impressive and well-curated exhibition, with cameras from both domestic and foreign brands, introducing the history of camera development and imaging principles.
Lang Jingshan Memorial Hall: Introduction to his life, photographic works, and documentaries. He started playing with cameras in the early 20th century, so he must have been very well-off.
Guanxiu Ancestral Hall: Temple, where you can get three incense sticks for free.
Youbu Sauce Workshop: Open-air soy sauce vats, recreating the soy sauce making process. You can buy rice vinegar, osmanthus sauce, soybean sauce, etc. as souvenirs.
The words "Come to Youbu Early" are at the end of the morning market street.

Youbu Ancient Town, one of the four ancient towns of the millennium
Youbu Ancient Town is located in Lanxi City, Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province. It is one of the four ancient towns in Zhejiang Province and has rich historical and cultural value.
The ancient town is famous for its early tea culture, but there is another treasure that is not widely known, which is the Polaroid Antique Camera Museum. Since this is also the hometown of the world-renowned photography master Lang Jingshan, the museum was built to promote and spread photography culture.
The exhibition hall covers an area of more than 800 square meters and houses more than 400 pieces. The entire museum is divided into two main thematic areas: the China Pavilion and the World Pavilion, showcasing classic cameras from various periods and countries over the past 180 years since the invention of photography. The exhibits are wonderful and highly recommended. Nowadays, people know very little about these historically significant cameras. The Polaroid Antique Camera Museum plays an active role in promoting and spreading photography culture. It is a popular study tour base that integrates fun, interactivity, and knowledge.

Youbu Ancient Town|A Kingdom of Snacks with Morning Tea Everywhere
Youbu Ancient Town gathers the culinary essence of Quzhou and Jinhua. We arrived a little after 8 o'clock, and the parking lot was already full, with various tour groups bringing people over. Before entering the ancient town, it felt okay and not too crowded, but once we actually entered, it was overwhelming with people everywhere, creating a full-on banquet atmosphere.
✔ Rouchenzi
Almost every household has it; it's a traditional Youbu delicacy. The egg is particularly tender, and the meat is very fresh and tender. In the past, when a daughter returned home after getting married, her family would make Rouchenzi for the son-in-law, with the amount of meat representing the level of approval for him. Both of our families tried it, and Wuchun's tasted better, while Qingfeng's was a bit salty.
✔ Jizigao
This is also a famous local snack. Meat and chopped green onions are stuffed into a large pancake, then pan-fried with oil, and an egg is cracked into the pancake. Anything fried in oil smells particularly fragrant and tastes delicious to me.
✔ Tofu Tangyuan
These are balls made of tofu, meat filling, and flour. The soup is very fresh, and the balls are tender and delicious.
✔ Scallion Flower Steamed Bun
Scallions and meat are mixed and wrapped in an open white steamed bun. The bun is soft and glutinous, not bad.
✔ Meat Balls
The meatballs are made of sweet potato flour, sticky and chewy, perfect for one bite.
✔ Qing Dynasty Wontons
This is an intangible cultural heritage. The small wontons are tiny and require skill to wrap. The taste is just average, but you can try them if you have an empty stomach.
Near the exit of the ancient town, there is a folk herbal medicine shop. The owner runs the shop himself and also diagnoses and prescribes medicine. Although he can't write some characters, he speaks knowledgeably about health issues after taking the pulse. Besides tourists, many locals also come for consultations. A week's worth of medicine costs over 300 yuan, with fixed prices.
Travel Time: Zhuge Bagua Village to Youbu Ancient Town, about 20 minutes by car. The ancient town has a parking lot, but it's small. If you arrive late, just park wherever you find a spot along the road. We parked on the curb.
Tickets: Free
Dining: Youbu cuisine is said to have hundreds of varieties. If you're not in a hurry, take a leisurely stroll and eat slowly.

Jinhua·Lanxi | Youbu Ancient Town·Morning Tea is not only in Guangdong and Yangzhou
Located in the southwest of Lanxi City, at the junction of Lanxi, Jinhua, and Longyou; there is one creek (Youbu Ancient Creek), two streets (Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Zhongshan Street, Morning Tea Snack Liberation Street), three vats (sauce vat, dye vat, wine vat), four people (the high monk of the Five Dynasties, Master Guanxiu, modern playwright Jiang Heyi, modern world photography master Lang Jingshan, modern astronomer Cao Mu), and five bridges (Yongji Bridge, Yongfu Bridge, Yongan Bridge, Taiping Bridge, Liaoxi Bridge).
🌟 Public Transportation
Lanxi West Station has bus routes that arrive (every 20 - 30 minutes); if departing from Jinhua, there is the Jinlan Express Line that goes directly to Lanxi West Bus Station.
🌟 With morning tea and photography as two major themes
Chicken egg pastries, meat sinkers, Youbu crispy cakes, water index powder, glutinous rice pastries, wonton noodles, pan-fried buns......100+ breakfast items; from a certain perspective, it is the 'Number One Morning Tea in the South of the Yangtze River'; here, tea ranges from 3 yuan to 10 yuan per cup, rich in variety to suit everyone.
❗️ Meat sinkers, a must-order; the preparation is exquisite, using chopsticks to stuff the meat into the egg yolk, and during the cooking process, it must maintain a round shape (P4).
Lang Jingshan Memorial Hall is closed on Mondays.
Another important attraction in Lanxi, 'Zhuge Bagua Village', has direct buses to Youbu Ancient Town (P12), which can be arranged to visit in one day.

Jiangnan's number one early morning tea street
You could ask me to guess a hundred times, and I would still find it hard to guess that the so-called number one early morning tea street in Jiangnan is located in the Youbu ancient town of Lanxi, Jinhua. In fact, it's just a small alley, but it indeed has a lively and homely atmosphere.
The meaty 'Rou Chen Zi' is a specialty, and there are many other kinds of snacks, such as sesame seed cakes stuffed with fried dough sticks, and Poria cocos and Gorgon fruit cake, which are quite delicious.

Youbu Ancient Town is really a food paradise
It gathers the culinary essence of Quzhou and Jinhua
Because the Quzhou and Jinhua regions are close to Jiangxi
So the local cuisine has both the spicy flavor of Jiangxi and the fresh sweetness of Zhejiang
⛩️
Youbu Ancient Town is located in the central and western part of Zhejiang Province, at the junction of Jinhua, Lanxi, and Longyou, with convenient transportation.
As early as the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, Youbu had a wharf, and it has always been an important agricultural and sideline product distribution and trading place at the junction of Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, and Anhui, a commercial town, known as the 'first wharf upstream of the Qiantang River', one of the four ancient towns in Zhejiang for a thousand years, and the birthplace of the Qiantang River Poetry Road culture. It has a long history and profound cultural heritage, famous for its traditional cultural activities, and there are many cultural relics and historic sites.
The 'Yongji Bridge', 'Yongfu Bridge', 'Yongan Bridge', 'Taiping Bridge', 'Laoxi Bridge' built in the Qing Dynasty across the Taiping Creek in the town are collectively referred to as 'Five Horses Returning to the Trough', which is a unique feature in Jiangnan.
The ancient village, ancient creek, ancient street, ancient bridge, and ancient houses are well preserved. The town still retains the previous way of life, waiting quietly for visitors from all directions.
