Machu Picchu of Taiwan?!: Shuinandong Refinery Ruins🏚
[Trip Moment Delivery.🗞️]
On this trip, let's go to the Shuinandong Refinery Ruins, the Machu Picchu of Taiwan!!✈️
🛄ㅣShuinandong Refinery Ruins (水湳洞選煉廠遺址)
The Shuinandong Refinery Ruins is a historical site located in the northern New Taipei City area of Taiwan, where gold mining was carried out during the Japanese colonial period. Currently, the ruins and rusty machines remain, allowing you to vividly feel the traces of that time. Also, there are lush mountains and valleys around it, so it is a great place to enjoy nature while trekking~
This historic site is also close to the famous Jinguashi gold mining town and Jiufen in Taiwan, so it is a good place to visit them together in a day trip!!😆
The buildings were arranged in layers along the mountainside like terraced rice fields, and the traces of neglect over the years were obvious. The walls were broken and cracked here and there, and the buildings had broken windows, reminding us that this was once a bustling industrial area. However, even in such a desolate state, nature was slowly making this place its own again. Vines grew in the cracks between the buildings, and grass grew lushly over the rusty railings, which caught our attention.
In particular, the blue sea of northern Taiwan beyond the historic site made the contrast even more vivid. This place, where countless miners and workers once worked busily, was now a quiet ruin, and behind it, the endlessly wide sea gently rippled. The wind blowing from the sea was salty, and the wind blew past the old concrete walls and scattered through the old ruins🌫
The sky was clear, but the clouds that had settled over the old buildings seemed to surround the ruins. As the sun set, the shadows of the buildings grew longer, and as the sunset began to spread, the walls of the ruins took on red and orange hues. For a moment, I felt a strange sense of time stopping~🏚
The Shuinandong Smelter Ruins were not just ruins, but huge historical traces that contained the glory and decline of an era. Just looking at them from afar, I could feel the unique beauty created by the harmony of past memories and nature!!🫠
