[2025 Yangon Airports] Travel Guide for Yangon International Airport (Updated Apr)

Yangon International Airport (Arrival) is an airport with many flights per day. There are not many shortages. The facilities are up to international standards and are clean. During COVID, passengers must show the ATK COVID test results before boarding the plane within 48 hours and travel insurance. After landing, there will be another ATK test before leaving the airport. #yangon

It is 15 kilometers away from Yangon city center. It is north of Yangon city center. Inside the airport, there is one currency exchange shop, a mobile SIM card shop, 2-3 restaurants, a KFC, and most other shops are closed. The airport is empty, there are few people, and there are many waiting areas. When I went, it seemed like they had turned off the air conditioning and lights. When I walked outside, there was a taxi driver who contacted me to go into the city. #AirportReview

#favouriteitinerary What’s an itinerary that you usually stop by before going to another country? Definitely an airport! Yangon International Airport is definitely one of the emptiest airports in the world. Most of their stores had to close down due to covid and the coup that happened. The duty free will ba barely anything to look forward to. Although I do have to recommend their restaurant where we had Mohinga (a traditional fish soup noodle). It was only $5, which is fair for airport food. They also had a lot of other traditional food options such as Ohn Noh Khaut Swal (coconut milk noodles, HUGE RECOMMENDATION). Do look around the airport regardless and stay safe while traveling 🥰

#newyearnewtrip #mai #flight Myanmar Airways International YGN ->> SG Flying with MAI has always been a pleasant experience for me. They are very generous with their checked baggage allowance of 30kg for their prices that feel almost like a budget airline. The only downside of this airlines is how they don’t have in-flight entertainment. Regardless, they serve great food and service to customers. PS. The last photo is from a restaurant at the Yangon international airport, the Mohinga was only $5! It was a great deal for airport food. Happy Travels ~

Travelling from Yangon International airport

Myanmar is definitely one of the least visited countries in Southeast Asia, but maybe that’s what makes it so special and unique. If you wish to get a break from hyper-touristy destinations in Asia like Thailand, you’ll be happy to hear that Myanmar is a relatively unexplored destination. There are no overcrowded beaches here, everything (except hotels) is dirt cheap, and the locals don’t treat you as an ATM. While backpacking Myanmar, you will have an opportunity to visit dozens of seriously awesome places! #yangon #myanmartravel

This time, I took the earliest flight. When I arrived, I rented a car with a driver to go to Shwedagon and Thep Than Jai. Then I went to find cool air conditioning at the mall. The driver took me there. When it was almost 7 pm, I went back to the airport. I flew back to Thailand on the 9 pm flight. It was so chill that I didn't have to stay overnight.
