Today's itinerary starts at the geothermal scenic area of Yangmingshan, a place with magnificent natural scenery and unique geothermal landscapes. In the morning, I took the MRT to Yangmingshan, and with the gentle breeze on my face, I felt particularly joyful. As soon as I entered the geothermal scenic area, the first thing that caught my eye was the steam vents emitting hot steam, with a faint smell of sulfur in the air. Walking along the trail, surrounded by green trees and flowers, I felt the vitality of nature. The geothermal fountains here occasionally spout hot water, like the pulse of nature, which is truly amazing. I took many photos here, especially in front of the steaming mud pools, as if I were in a fantastical painting. Finally, I stood on a viewing platform, overlooking the beautiful scenery of Yangmingshan, feeling an immense sense of tranquility. Next, I drove to Jiufen Old Street, known for its ancient streets and unique mountain town charm. As I walked into Jiufen Old Street, the small shops on both sides were dazzling, exuding the aroma of various delicacies. Red lanterns hung high, adding a touch of festivity and romance to the entire street. I specifically chose A-Mei Tea House, known for its rich tea culture and elegant environment. Sitting by the window, savoring the fragrant Taiwanese tea, the mountain scenery and street view outside the window complemented each other, giving me a sense of leisure. The tea house staff patiently introduced the types of tea and brewing techniques, giving me a deeper understanding of Taiwanese tea culture. After enjoying afternoon tea at A-Mei Tea House, I continued to wander along the old street. The red lanterns looked particularly charming under the sunset, filling the entire street with warm lights. I tasted local snacks such as taro balls and grass cakes, with unique flavors that left a lasting impression. Ending this day's itinerary, my heart was full of emotion and satisfaction. From the natural beauty of Yangmingshan to the cultural heritage of Jiufen Old Street, this trip to Taipei made me fall in love with this city even more. Every corner is full of stories, and every scene is mesmerizing. I hope to return to this land in the future to continue exploring more beauty.

Yangmingshan is Taipei people back garden 台北人的后花园。 i visited this area on 26 th Oct 2024, as the day before was heavy rain n next day with strong sunshine, i am so lucky to have stunning views with not many crowds. After Yangmingshan steaming volcanic fumaroles, nearby is the qingtiangang field with mist shrouded grassy plateaus, wild buffalos, and mountainsides blanketed in silvergrass. There are numerous hiking trails in Yangmingshan of varying difficulty levels. I chose Qingtiangang Circular Trail, one of the easiest hiking trails to bring my two kids for a hike. The circular trail starts at Lingtouyan land god temple at Qingtiangang, passing Qingtiangang Grassland, Yangmingshan Ranch and leads back to the land god temple. The trail is around 2.4 kilometers long. The trail offers unobstructed views of the nearby Mt Qixing, Mt. Qigu, Mt. Huangzuei and Mt. Zhugao. When talking about mountain climbing in Taiwan, the first thing that comes to mind must be Yangmingshan! Yangmingshan National Park is one of the most attractive places in Taiwan, Taipei City. There are various route to travel to Yangmingshan. The route that we took was to take via the Metro/MRT to Jiantan station and you will see a bus stop directly outside the station. From there, you will see a queue in the morning for R5 bus to Yangmingshan (estimate 45 min). Don’t be surprise if you see a long queue, the frequency of the buses are quite high. There’s a standing queue (站位) and a seating (坐位) queue, do queue at the wrong queue if you do not want to stand for the entire ride. Once reached, there will be various routes for you to hike or take their buses up to the spot that you wanted to go. If you are unsure, you could check with the bus driver or local. They are very helpful! There are unique kinds of beauty every season of the year. Depending on the time of the year which we went during March. March is the cherry blossom season which was one of the best period to spot cherry blossoms in Taiwan at 花锺 (Take internal bus 130). Once you are done, if you would like to continue with the sightseeing, you would have to return to the bus station which takes about 20mins walk back. Once you are back, take the 108 bus to continue the tour to various spots in Yangmingshan, few popular places are 竹子湖 and 小油坑.
