"Yamagata Creative City Center Q1" utilizes the vacant space of the former elementary school building of "Yamagata Manabikan"
The "Yamagata Creative City Center Q1" is a facility that has been renovated as a "base for the creative city of Yamagata" by utilizing the vacant space of the old elementary school building of "Yamagata Manabikan".
In 2017, Yamagata City became the first city in Japan to be certified as a "UNESCO Creative City" in the field of film, and "Q1" is an information dissemination hub for exchange with the world.
Inside the old Yamagata City Daiichi Elementary School building, built in the early Showa period,
the first to third floors are filled with shops, cafes, offices, galleries, artist studios, and more.
The satellite office of "Montedio Yamagata" is also located here, which gives a sense of local Yamagata-ness!
As soon as you enter the building, you will find a pamphlet about the building, so be sure to pick one up and enjoy your stroll around the building.
There is also a cafe where you can eat Yamagata specialties, so it's recommended!
The building is a registered tangible cultural property of the country and is also called "Yamagata Manabikan".
